FPF Division E – Preseason Preview

FPF Division E – Preseason Preview
With the Spring 2025 season underway, Division E of FPF kicks off as one of the most crowded and competitive divisions in the league. Comprising 27 teams — many of them returning from the Winter season in Divisions 5A, 5B, 6A, and 6B — this group features a compelling mix of championship veterans, consistent playoff performers, and fresh hopefuls eager to break through.
So far, only one game has been played: Chapeau Perdu outlasting Sweet Bonanza in a thrilling 37–36 shootout. While it’s far too early to predict the standings, there’s plenty to examine heading into the season. From proven winners to redemption-seeking squads, here’s a full rundown of Division E entering Spring 2025.
Teams With Championship DNA
Gold Rush
They went just 5–5 last season in Division 6A, but when it mattered most, Gold Rush turned it up. With a narrow 20–19 championship win, they proved they could win ugly and deliver under pressure. Now back with most of their core intact, Gold Rush is expected to start strong and play with the confidence of a defending champion. Their defensive grit and red-zone execution make them dangerous in tight games.
Reborn Prospects
Coming off a 7–3 Winter season in Division 5A, Reborn Prospects capped it off with a convincing 33–19 championship win. Their offense is explosive, but what sets them apart is their ability to adjust mid-game — a trait that served them well through the postseason. With a title already under their belts, they enter Division E as a team to beat.
Dangerous Teams With Something to Prove
Chomedey Chodes
The Chodes finished 8–2 in Winter’s Division 6A but saw their season end prematurely with a quarterfinals loss. Despite the disappointment, this is a team built for sustained success — a well-balanced roster, experience at QB, and solid play-calling. They’ll be aiming to finish the job this time around.
STUDZ 2
Their 8–2 finish in Division 5B marked them as one of the top teams last season, but the divisional round exit left a sour taste. With another season of chemistry under their belt, expect them to challenge the division’s elite.
Empereurs Retraités
Empereurs Retraités dominated much of the Winter 6B season (8–2), but like many strong teams, they were caught off guard in the playoffs.
Teams Ready to Take a Leap
TD Blitz
They finished 6–4 in Division 6B and reached the semifinals — but TD Blitz isn’t content with just making playoff appearances. With a fast-paced offense and an opportunistic defense, this team knows how to swing momentum. If they tighten up their execution in close games, they could break through to the finals this season.
Demons
At 6–4 in Division 5B, the Demons showed potential but lacked consistency. They’ll need to cut down on mental errors , but their talent level is high.
Sophomore XL
Sophomore XL quietly had a strong Winter showing — a 5–5 regular season and a divisional-round appearance in Division 5A. This team is methodical and well-run, they should be more than just a fringe playoff team.
Tunesquad
With a 6–4 finish and a quarterfinals berth in Division 5A, Tunesquad brings playoff experience to Division E. They’re not the flashiest team, but they grind games out and win situational football. If their quarterback can take a step forward, they could be a serious threat.
Teams Looking for a Fresh Start
Texas Whales
Their 1–9 record last season in Division 5A was a tough pill to swallow, but a new division brings new opportunity. Texas Whales have struggled, but if they’ve made key offseason adjustments, this could be the beginning of a rebound. One win early on could drastically shift their confidence and momentum.
Sour Puss
At 3–7 in Division 5B, Sour Puss showed flashes of competitiveness but never quite put it together. They’ll need to focus on improving their red zone offense and cleaning up their defence if they want to contend. With a new look entering Spring, a playoff berth isn’t out of reach.
Under the Radar Teams to Watch
Chapeau Perdu
They’re the only team with a win so far, narrowly beating Sweet Bonanza 37–36. While one game doesn’t define a season, it showed they can hang in shootouts and finish games strong. A few more weeks like that, and they’ll be impossible to ignore.
Sweet Bonanza
Despite the loss, Sweet Bonanza dropped 36 points in Week 1. That kind of offensive firepower will win games in this division — the key will be tightening up their defense and finishing possessions. They’re definitely a team to monitor over the next few games.
Still Unknown: The Rest of the Pack
With 27 teams in total, several squads have yet to show their hand. Teams like Airs University, Unicorns, Northvolt, Flag Dealers, Not Fast Just Furious, and Pack a Punch are entering this season with a clean slate. Some are brand new, others are retooled rosters under familiar names. Either way, there’s always a surprise team in every FPF season — and it’s just a matter of time before one of them makes noise.
Early Outlook
Division E is truly wide open. Multiple teams bring championship credentials, others are knocking on the door, and many are still unknown. That combination creates exactly the type of unpredictability that defines the FPF experience.
Expect a season filled with nail-biters, standout individual performances, and surprise storylines. If the opening game is any indication, Division E is going to be one of the most entertaining and competitive divisions to watch this spring.
