Division B

Division B: Mid-Season Report

by Brent Bodkin Tuesday, July 01, 2025 - 17:51:04

With all nine teams having played at least five games, we are officially at the midway point of the season, and with it, comes the Division B Mid-Season report.

I will look at what each team has done, where they stand, and what they could accomplish in the second half of the season.

Poseidon’s Kiss (5-1)

All good things must come to an end, and that is exactly what happened to Poseidon’s Kiss’ chances of going undefeated, as they lost (39-33) to the Silent Ticklers this past weekend at Concordia.

Going (10-0) isn’t possible but winning it all is still a distinct possibility for this squad. This team has several comeback wins, mixed in with both a blowout and shootout victory. In short, they have demonstrated character, resiliency, toughness, and the ability to make a play with the game on the line.

With four games left on their calendar, Poseidon’s Kiss, controls their own destiny as it relates to maintaining their hold on first place. To finish as the number one seed, they will most likely have to beat Run It Once, Udaho Idapimps again, and FINS UP twice. Not exactly an easy sled.

This team has speed, size, grit, and skill. With all the close games they have been in (five), Poseidon’s Kiss also holds the knowledge they need to get it done if they potentially find themselves in another close game with Udaho Idapimps, and the other two teams as well.

This team is a legit championship contender. The question they must answer, is was the loss just a small bump in the road, or signs of something bigger? The four one-possession wins are impressive, but they also mean that this team could very easily be (1-5).

Mangoose (5-1)

After continually flaming out in Division A/1, Mangoose, is in their best spot in Div. 2. As each week passes, it has become increasingly clear that this team is playing their best ball, and in the process has turned into a juggernaut.

Their one loss came against Poseidon’s Kiss, but Mangoose was without their starting Quarterback in Nic Schaffer. Sometimes a loss tells you more about a team than a win, the fact that they only lost (25-19) is one of those cases.

The head-to-head tiebreaker loss is why Mangoose sits in second. With games remining against Run It Once, Silent Ticklers, Udaho Idapimps, and Les Verges Folles, first place is still up for grabs. The question of course, is can this veteran squad take it?

Silent Ticklers (4-1)

I have written a lot of the same things about this team seemingly forever. They have talent, length, speed, toughness, chemistry, and big game experience. They also have signature wins on their resume this season in the shape of victories over Udaho Idapimps, and most recently Poseidon’s Kiss.

One thing that is different, is their one loss, a Week 2 (30-0) forfeit at the hands of FINS UP, that saw the Silent Ticklers go over the cap. If you look a little closer at the stats, the latter actually won the game (37-36). Unfortunately, due to the violation, it stands as a defeat.

The question remains the same for the Silent Ticklers. Can they win a championship? Since winning it all in the 2023 Winter Season, this team has fallen short on several occasions, most recently, this past May in the 2025 Winter Season Semi-Finals.

Can the Silent Ticklers shake off their recent post-season demons and get over the hump again? They will be tested as they will face Shake & Bake (twice), Mangoose, Run It Once, and have another showdown with a Udaho Idapimps squad that will be looking for revenge after losing by two touchdowns in Week 1. Let’s see what happens.

Run It Once (4-2)

This is one of the hottest teams in Division B, as they started the regular season with two straight losses, before wheeling off four straight wins. Run It Once will try to make it five consecutive victories, as they take on Mangoose, Les Verges Folles, Silent Ticklers, and Poseidon’s Kiss.

The key to their success so far has been their impressive defense. On average, most teams get about six to eight possessions a game offensively. Run It Once, has held five out of their six opponents to less than 27 points. That means that they have allowed teams to score just four times a game.

What makes this team’s defensive performance even more noteworthy, is that even though they have recorded just one sack (Felix Clairmont) the unit has registered 11 interceptions. With long ballhawks like Sanders Armand, Bakari Barrett, Jaylan Greaves, and Ahmed Boubacar, the unit has done a great job taking away the deep third of the field from opposing Quarterbacks.

Defense wins championships. Run It Once, has shown they have what it takes on that side the ball to get it done. If they can keep it up the rest of the way, there ‘s no reason to think they can’t make a long playoff run.

FINS UP (4-3)

Throughout the last few seasons, FINS UP have shown themselves to be a sleeping giant come playoff time. When stacked up against the heavy weights, they usually don’t have the same number of All-Stars, or individual awards, but they always find a win to make a play when it is needed most.

They have an ability to adapt from game to game and opponent to opponent. You want a shootout, a defensive slugfest, a down to the wire thriller, FINS UP shows up every time, and proves that they can win in a variety of ways.

The thing that makes this team so special, is that everybody on the roster has stepped up to make a play this season. The next man up mentality is a philosophy that many teams try to mimic, but few can master. FINS UP, should be giving a masterclass.

Like every team who hits the field in Division B, FINS UP has championship aspirations. Led by elite Quarterback and leader Will Power, and weapons on both sides of the ball in James Langshaw, Joey Notaro, Carl Achy, Hinsley Adams, and Simon Duchesne, this squad has what it takes to go all the way.

Udaho Idapimps (2-4)

This team is a play away from being (3-3), as they lost on the last play of the game versus Poseidon’s Kiss in Week 5. Their other defeats came at the hands of Silent Ticklers, Run It Once, and FINS UP. Udaho Idapimps’ two wins have come against Les Verges Folles, and Never Overtime. That tells me that they can beat the weaker teams, but not the better ones.

With names like Manu Allard-Roy, Brady Ohanessian, Jeremy Rooney, and Ashton Thibeault, this team can match talent with any other squad in Division B. What they have been lacking most is execution. In past seasons, when they have needed a big play to either win or swing a game, both Idaho Udapimps, and Udaho Idapimps, have almost always found a way to make a play when it is needed most. That simply has not been the case this year. Look no further than the blowout losses to the Silent Ticklers, Run It Once and FINS UP. Can you remember the last time this team has been on the losing end of so many one-sided games?

Talent is important, but it only takes you so far. Can Udaho Idapimps find the other missing ingredients needed to not only improve their record, but put themselves in championship contention? With remaining games Shake & Bake, Mangoose, Silent Ticklers, and Poseidon’s Kiss, we will find out shortly.

Never Overtime (2-7)

The schedule has done this teams no favours, as they only have one game left to play, July 27th versus Shake & Bake, in a contest that very well could decide the last playoff spot in Division B. What makes matters worse, is that their last game was this past Sunday, meaning that their regular season finale will be nearly a whole month later.

Led by the two-headed monster in Mack Dessources and Rhami Aboud, this team has big play ability on both sides of the ball, as the duo have combined for 27 touchdowns. Ironically enough, with victories over Run It Once and Les Verges Folles, Never Overtime, has a small sample size of putting together a solid effort on both sides of the ball.

Not all losses are created equally, but for Never Overtime, they have experienced one-possession, blowout, and other defeats that have landed somewhere in the middle.

For a team that has lost two straight and six of their last seven overall, perhaps having the aforementioned month off will serve as a chance to reset, take a breathe, fix some of their problems, and give a chance for Quarterback Ryan Kharouf to heal up, as the gunslinger has been out due to injury since June 12, as they get prepared for what will most likely be a win and get in game versus Shake & Bake.

Shake & Bake (1-4)

Without a shadow of a doubt, this has been the most surprising team in Dvision B, and not in a good way. Last Fall Season the team was a championship contender in Tier 2, as they made it all the way to the Quarter-Finals. During the process, we witnessed the ascension of Quarterback Marc-Andre Reeves, who has now firmly placed himself among the league’s elite QBs.

Already armed with chemistry and playmakers, Shake & Bake added even more of the latter with the additions of All-Stars Jerome Hovington and Felix Boutet, along with Marvin Renaud, who joined the squad in the Winter Season. On paper, it looked like this team should at the very least pick up where they left off last Fall, and at the same time, improve a defense that has always been their Achilles Heel. Low and behold, neither has happened. The team has one win (Week 5 vs FINS UP), and after giving up an average of 33 points a game last season, they have surrendered 36 PPG s far.

Talent isn’t an issue with this group, but stopping teams defensively, and stacking wins has been. Until they take care of the former, they won’t be able to work on the latter, which means championship aspirations assuming they even get into the dance, don’t look promising.

Les Verges Folles (1-5)

At first glance, it would be easy to say that this is a team that simply should be playing in Division C. Les Verges Folles had a solid Winter Season in Div. 3, as they finished with a (7-3) record, before flaming out in the Divisional Round.

This season, the flame out has continued, as a combination of an unstable roster, rotating Quarterbacks, no elite playmaker on either side of the ball, and a lack of execution have held this team back all season. Most importantly, the absence of future Olympian Guillaume Beland (only two games played), has staggered both the team’s offense and defense.

The cupboard isn’t bare for this squad, as Carl Bernola has tried to fill the void, but he along with Nassim Ouadhi, aren’t enough to carry both the worst ranked offense and defense.

Les Verges Folles currently sit on the outside of the playoff race looking it, due to their Division B-worst (1-5) divisional record. On the bright side the team’s one win came in Week 1 versus Run It Once. With games remaining against Shake & Bake, FINS UP, Mangoose, and a rematch with Run It Once, LVF, controls their own playoff destiny. Let’s see what they do with it.

That is it for this article. I will be back later this week with 10 burning for the second half of the season. Stay tuned, and good luck to everyone in their games this week! Happy Canada Day!
