Who had a clue? Double Upsets in Co-Ed 2!

Hello Co-Ed 2 and welcome to another week of Playoffs! Playoffs are a special time of year. Thankfully, in FPF, we have 3 postseasons a year! Triple the competition, triple the footage, triple your chances to be a Champion! With the Semi-Finals here, let’s discuss the FINAL 4 and what each team may need to do in order to become the victor.

THE UNSTOPPABLE THOUGHTS OF A MAD MAN

  • BADGERS coming in hot with a major upset against the #1 seed – FITSQUAD!! A game that came down to converts between 2 QBs that had almost identical stats. William Brouard and Chris Rivest went head to head in this game, both scoring with 3 different receivers and around 170 yards. A true playoff game! I did not foresee FITSQUAD losing in the first round of playoffs, especially to a team that only put up defensive tackles and no turnovers. BADGERS now dig ahead to BENCHWARMERS to prove that they can continue their win streak against the best of the best of the division.
  • After an injury that postponed that game at its halfway mark, FIREBALL and IG TEAM went at it again this past Monday to finish off the remaining time. Both QBs played a very similar game, but Jeanslee Alexis’ Rushing TD was the difference maker in this game, propelling THE IG TEAM to their second win of the postseason. FIREBALL would have been primed to take the top spot of the division due to FITSQUAD being knocked out, but an elimination of their own leaves only 2 more top 5 teams left in play!
  • FLASHBANG TEAM were on the cusp of victory. They had stopped KISS MY END ZONE, scored, and were up by 5 points with 3 plays left in the game. With the last play of the game, Iggy put up a hail mary that was tipped backwards into the hands of the ever beautiful, ever athletic, ever amazing – Will Power! KMEZ were able to get the last second TD for the win and very narrowly advance to the Semi-Finals! It was a heck of a game that could have gone either way. FLASHBANG TEAM were already my hidden assassin team, and so, im happy to have avoided the dagger. Now KMEZ finds themselves against a strong IG TEAM.
  • BENCHWARMERS were the only team coming off the BYE week that didn’t seem to struggle or have an upsetting result. Winning their game against DEEP BALLZ handedly 32-13 (despite struggling in the first half), the BENCHWARMERS seem to have solidified their place as the new #1 seed of the playoffs. Good luck to BADGERS who have already proven they can hang with the top of the division, but can they have a repeat performance against the deep roster of BENCHWARMERS?
  • I know he has played 2 games, but honestly, having over 100 rushing yards and a TD in the playoffs already is a bit much, Jeanslee Alexis… don’t you think? His rushing TD was the deciding factor in his last game. Will he be able to continue his ground game as we continue closer to Finals? With a regular season pass completion of about 50%, teams will need to find a way to force Jeanslee off his game.
  • 75% of the games this week were decided by 6 points or less. To me that indicates an incredibly balanced postseason schedule; Every game is Do-or-Die! Low seeds are upsetting high seeds, most teams are scoring 30+ points, and players are putting everything on the line. Let’s remember to be safe, have fun, and win some cred.

Semi-Final Round Preview

Benchwarmers VS Badgers:

This game has the potential to be a fierce battle and possible upset of the week! BENCHWARMERS are coming off of a somewhat easy win, while BADGERS fought for their lives against FITSQUAD. Chris Rivest and Gabriel Wisemen are no strangers to FPF, but only 1 of them have 2 receivers with 400+ receiving yards this season. Meaning, the BENCHWARMERS defense will be tested by Nestor Nacip Chavez Fayad and Cesar Garcia-Diaz. With 10 PDs as a team last game, however, BENCHWARMERS might just be up to the task.

Offensively, both teams have scored the same amount of points in the regular season. But defensively, it seems as though BENCHWARMERS have the edge, with over 100 points difference in points allowed. Both teams have access to great rushers: Jonathan Shea (BADGERS) got 6 sacks this season, Gabriel WIseman (BENCHWARMERS) had 6 sacks, and Lucas Quenneville (BENCHWARMERS) ended the regular season with 8 sacks. Unfortunately, the QB that looks to be the most affected by this will be Christ Rivest, who took a whopping 18 sacks in 10 games. In addition, BADGERS have not played BENCHWARMERS before, and if you haven’t been introduced to Lucas Quenneville’s speed…I recommend Rivest to watch out.

I thought missing Nicholas Gomes-Risso might hinder this team defensively, but they still managed a decisive win last week without him! I see BENCHWARMERS taking the win on this one, but any mistake could cost them the game!

Kiss My End Zone VS The IG Team

As a player, and more importantly, the rusher in this game… I have a lot to be worried about. Jeanslee Alexis has been sacked less than 1x per game, and has also accumulated over 300 rushing yards during the season. However, KMEZ has the #1 QB of the division: Ignacio Valdes Manzanedo (I’m not just saying this, it’s the stat page!). Either way, both defenses will have something to worry about. KMEZ will need to find a way to stop the run and force Jeanslee to throw, and THE IG TEAM will need to contend with a QB who can cover the entire field with his arm.

Luis Begin is KMEZ’s reliable TD scorer, catching 13 TDs in the regular season, while Jordanson Alexis and Shandy Louis-Jacquet have both accrued 8 TDs of their own for THE IG TEAM. Adding Clifdji Solon on defense with Gabrielle Poissant has rounded out this team very well and will make it hard for Iggy to pick apart the Defense. 17 INTs and a few more PICK-6’s in the season give THE IG TEAM a slight edge defensively, despite KMEZ allowing less Points scored. This game may come down to which team can utilize their female players the best and how much pressure can be applied to the opposing QBs.

I wont give a prediction on who I think will win this game, but I think it will be a high scoring game. Whoever wins will need to put up 34+ points!
