Welcome Back to the Gridiron!

Surprise! CO-ED 3 articles are back! Sorry for the lengthy break (incoming perfect storm of delays and excuses) my work got heavy, Mid Season Report cards took longer than expected, my cat ate my homework, and I got sick. I’ve missed upsets, blowouts, and shits in the top 5! More articles are coming your way soon, but please allow me to plug your week with the awaited Report Cards!

Each team will be given 3 different ratings – Offense, Defense, Overall. They will also be given a small sentence or 2 praise from yours truly. Every writer has their own ranking system so they may differ Article to Article, but I try to make mine simple and concrete.

Boy Oh Boy! When Co-Ed first started, I remember that you only needed 3 sometimes 2 TDs to win a game… Now, everybody is an athlete and most teams will need to be able to put up 4 TDs, and keep teams to less than 4 TDs if they want to win games. If teams surpass or fail to meet the 4 TD mark, I then look at length of time in the league and then schedule to see if they get + or – grades. The longer you’ve been in the league and the difficulty of your schedule can push you into the S rank, or drop you into the B or C rank. There are no F’s and no D’s because everything can be explained in a smaller number of tiers (4). They are named as followed:

S Tier – SUPERCALIFRAGILISTICEXPIALIDOCIOUS! You’re going above and beyond! No matter the difficulty of your schedule, you’ve created an image of being invincible. Scoring more than 24pts usually and keeping teams low, S teams are the whole package!

A Tier – AY-CARAMBA! You’re pulling off the best of both worlds! 4+ TDs on Offense and 4- TDs on Defense usually will get you to this Rank. Give and take your schedule.

B Tier – BOOGIE WOOGIE! These teams are in the zone some weeks, and others…. not so much. If you got a B grade, you are just missing that consistent 4 TD Offense/Defense goal, or despite hitting it, your schedule may have been a bit easier than others.

C Tier – COWABUNGA! You’re doing your best and making moves! You’re still revving up to being a contending team in this division, but it doesn’t mean you’re doomed!

Keep in mind that this is still only the Mid-Season check in and teams have another couple of weeks to continue to climb their divisional ladder. I think teams have the ability to change a full letter grade by the end of the season, for better or for worse! If you don’t like your grade…… show me on the field that you deserve better! Let’s get down to business:

.

MID SEASON REPORT CARD:

AT LEAST WE TRIED

They are definitely doing more than required. Whether it’s THUNDER VILLAINS or AIGRE-DOUX, this team is putting up 4 TDs or more a game! They have put up the most points on Offense and allowed the least amount of points on Defense. With only 2 more games that may offer them a loss, they may as well continue their undefeated run!

OFFENSE GRADE: S // DEFENSE GRADE: S // OVERALL: S

.

BLOCK PARTY

Taking a forfeit and a big loss against AIGRE-DOUX, BLOCK PARTY finds themselves unseated as the #1 seed! Except for last week, they have been able to put up 4 TDs or more! Defensively, they have also been a machine, but a forfeit counts just as much as the 38 allowed points last week.

OFFENSE GRADE: A+ // DEFENSE GRADE: B+ // OVERALL: A

.

BANDIT(E)

Another team that has been able to throw up and throw down! A small struggle against PERFECT STRANGERS, but overall, these BANDIT(E)s have had a strong start to the season. They have an even more difficult 2nd half of the season, but have the potential to knock people out in the postseason!

OFFENSE GRADE: S // DEFENSE GRADE: A+ // OVERALL: S-

.

THUNDER VILLAINS

Whether it be Loki, the Wrecking Crew, or Gorr, the THUNDER (Thor) VILLAINS are always ready for a fight! They have been able to put up a steady 3-4 TDs a game and find themselves 3-1 as they prepare themselves for the last 6 games. Look for them to be one of the final 4 teams.

OFFENSE GRADE: B+ // DEFENSE GRADE: B+ // OVERALL: B+

.

HALF N’ HALF

HALF N’ HALF has become FULL N’ FULL! After losing their first 2 games, they have won their last 4 games against some solid teams! I can’t give them an ‘A’, because of their stumble out of the gate and their high points allowed, but I do love a good comeback story!

OFFENSE GRADE: B+ // DEFENSE GRADE: B- // OVERALL: B

.

AIGRE-DOUX

There are a lot of teams that are able to put up points in this division, but AIGRE-DOUX is arugably one of the best at it! While scoring 171 points in 5 games is outstanding, they have also allowed 89 points between 2 games: HALF N’ HALF and AT LEAST WE TRIED.

OFFENSE GRADE: S // DEFENSE GRADE: B+ // OVERALL: A

.

MICHAEL SCOTT’S TOTS

Starting off with only 1 TD against AIGRE-DOUX, the TOTS have so far been able to put up 4-5 TDs per game (save for their last one against PERFECT STRANGERS), picking up a mixture of Wins and Losses. Very happy to be 3-3, but going up against #2 and #3 in our next 4 games will test our defense!

OFFENSE GRADE: B+ // DEFENSE GRADE: B // OVERALL: B

.

PERFECT STRANGERS

These STRANGERS haven’t been doing too bad for themselves! They have only scored 4 TDs once in their run so far, but have also done a decent job at keeping most teams to under 4 TDs as well. The next 2 games may be tough for them, but if they can go 5-5 and get a good seed, I can see them being an upset special in the postseason.

OFFENSE GRADE: C+ // DEFENSE GRADE: B // OVERALL: B-

.

DREAMKILLERS

The only dream this team has killed was SHOW ME YOUR TDS’. They have been able to put up at least 2 TDs consistently, which is a great start to moving up in the division, but they will need to find a way to score more points if they want to win games. Defense has been able to keep teams to max 4 TDs, which is a testament when you play against BLOCK PARTY, and will need to continue to give their offense a chance!

OFFENSE GRADE: C // DEFENSE GRADE: B // OVERALL: B-

.

ECLIPSE

Although we have an Eclipse coming up, this ECLIPSE team has been struggling to shine despite their 2-3 record. They have played some of the toughest teams in the division and struggled to put up more than 1 TD against them. They luckily benefit from a forfeit against BLOCK PARTY, but having only actually scored 6 points that game continues the trend. I do like that their defense has been pretty solid keeping some teams to only 3 TDs!

OFFENSE GRADE: C // DEFENSE GRADE: A- // OVERALL: B-

.

P’TITS VITES

P’TITS VITES flip flop between wins and losses and find themselves 2-4. They are knocking on the door of the 4 TD mark, and can usually muster up 3 TDs if they miss. On the flip side, their defense is holding teams out at 4 TDs or less, with the exception of HALF N’ HALF, the recent terror of the division. With the caliber of this team, i’m surprised to see them at #9 and expect them to jump by the end of the season!

OFFENSE GRADE: B // DEFENSE GRADE: B- // OVERALL: B-

.

SHOW ME YOUR TDS

I dont think this team was ready for all that they would receive when they asked the division to SHOW ME YOUR TDS, but sitting with the most points against (217), they may have bitten off more than they can chew. Paired with the fact that they are still stabilizing at the QB position and are finding it difficult to score more than 2 TDs, this team will need to work to stay out of the Elimination Zone! Good Luck Gang!

OFFENSE GRADE: C // DEFENSE GRADE: C // OVERALL: C

.

FLAMINGOS

This flock of pink avian friends have banded together and are trying their best to get their footing and their first win! They have had a close game or 2, but without more turnovers on defense and some magical plays on offense, this team will find it hard to pass SHOW ME YOUR TDS, who have the tiebreaker over them. If they can come out, and put up the same performance as they did versus the TOTS, I can see these FLAMINGOS winning a game or 2!

OFFENSE GRADE: C+ // DEFENSE GRADE: C // OVERALL: C

.

TOP 5 POWER RANKINGS:

1. AT LEAST WE TRIED

2. HALF N HALF

3. AIGRE-DOUX

4. BLOCK PARTY

5. BANDIT(E)
