Week 13 recap

Ambush Escape with Close Win Over Bless Up 28-24

In a thrilling game that came down to the wire, Ambush edged out Bless Up 28-24. James Drysdale was the star of the show for Ambush, catching 6 passes for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns. Bless Up fought valiantly, but turnovers ultimately proved costly in their defeat. Will Powed suited up in place of Steve Harripersaud and was not able to deliver a solid performance for Bless Up.

Drysdale Leads Ambush

Ambush took the early lead thanks to a strong performance by quarterback Ben McMahon. McMahon connected with James Drysdale for a touchdown pass in the first half. This was the beginning of a big night for Drysdale. The first half of this one was pretty lacklustre as these two great squads only scored one TD each going into halftime 8-6. Bless Up responded in the second half with a touchdown pass to Marvin Steinberg, but Ambush answered right back with another score from Semerjian. James Drysdale led Ambush with 6 receptions for 85 yards and 2 touchdowns. He even secured one INT on the defensive side really impacting the game on both sides of the ball.

Bless Up Rallies, But Falls Short

Bless Up continued to chip away at the lead in the second half as Will Power found Steinberg for another touchdown pass, but a failed 2-point conversion attempt kept them behind by 8 points. Ambush then sealed the victory with a late touchdown reception by Drysdale. Bless Up added another touchdown of their own, but it was not enough to overcome the deficit. Marvin Steinberg also balled the F out as he caught 10 passes for 125 yards and 4 touchdowns. A great effort that unfortunately fell short of a W.

Ambush will look to build on this momentum leading in to the playoffs. Bless Up on the other hand will need to find a way to get their offence back in top shape before the post season.

Div 1 Game of the Week

Flag Moi L’sac vs Allstars this week’s Game of the Week features a high-stakes clash between two division leaders in Division 1 in Flag Plus Football. The top dog Flag Moi L’Sac (8-1) will take on the All-Stars (6-2) in a game with major playoff implications.

Flag Moi L’Sac on Fire

Flag Moi L’Sac has been the league’s most dominant team this season, led by the red-hot quarterback Alex Nadeau-Piuze. Nadeau-Piuze has been nearly unstoppable, throwing a staggering 55 touchdowns against just 1 interception in just 9 games. His favourite target, Guillaume Paquet, has been just as impressive, hauling in a league-leading 19 touchdowns and racking up 430 receiving yards in just 8 games. Both Nadeau-Piuze and Paquet are shoo-ins for Division 1 All-Star honours.

All-Stars Aim to Upset Top Dog

Despite battling quarterback Kevin Wyeth’s elbow injury all season, the All-Stars have managed to stay in the thick of the playoff race. Wyeth’s toughness and talent have shone through, as he’s amassed 43 touchdown passes for nearly 2,000 yards this season. A win this week would not only avenge their earlier two losses of the season but also potentially give them the coveted #1 seed in the playoffs.

Some of the biggest questions of the game: Can the All-Stars’ defense contain the Nadeau-Piuze to Paquet connection? Flag Moi L’Sac’s offense has been a juggernaut all season, and the All-Stars will need to find a way to disrupt their rhythm. Superstars like Pat Jerome and Matt Bond will need to come up big in this game and disrupt the opponent offence. Will Kevin Wyeth’s elbow hold up? Wyeth’s health is a major concern for the All-Stars. If he’s limited, their chances of pulling off the upset significantly decrease. After playing versus the Allstars a few weeks ago, deep throws seemed to bother Wyeth almost every time. His accuracy doesn’t seem to waiver but his ability to throw deep consistently and often decreases after every drive of the game. Hopefully Kev will be able to fix his issues as be ready for the playoffs. As Flag Moi L’Sac looking to clinch the division title and the #1 seed they have been playing like the best team in Div 1 so far so I would not be surprised if they’re the team to end on top.

I think Flag Moi L’sac have played phenomenal this season and I don’t see them stopping anytime soon. This game promises to be an offensive slugfest between two of the best teams in FPF. With playoff seeding and bragging rights on the line, expect both teams to leave it all on the field. If I had to predict an outcome, while breaking my own rules, I would say that Flag Moi L’sac win big and secure the top seed. Betting against Kevin Wyeth is never a smart move but I’m feeling this one. Flag Moi L’sac 52-42

Award Races

At the beginning of the season, about 12 weeks ago, I predicted who would take home every season award in both division 1 & 2. Here in week 14 well see how those players have performed this year in Div 1 and who I think will end the year strong and actually be an award winner this winter.

Div 1

QBOY: Joe Maheu- Braves, I predict the Braves and Joe Maheu to be one of the teams with the best record and most touchdowns. Maheu has shown the ability to throw 50 or more touchdowns in a season with less then 5 ints and that is what I am predicting we will get. A great start as he threw for 5 tds and 0 Ints in week one and I believe that will be his standard.

Joe Maheu has been the heart and soul of the Braves’ offensive success this season. Leading his team to a strong 5-2 record in Division 1, Maheu has played well enough to establish himself as a top contender for the QBOY award. Maheu’s stats speak for themselves. He boasts a great completion percentage of 74.3%, completing 132 passes out of 179 attempts.  This efficiency translates to impressive yardage, with Maheu throwing for a total of 1,512 yards in just 7 games.  Maheu has an impressive 44 touchdowns against only 2 interceptions, showing his remarkable accuracy and decision-making. With 3 games left it is still possible for Maheu to catch lead leader Alex Nadeau-Piuze.

Award Leader: Alex Nadeau-Piuze- Flag Moi L’sac

Alex Nadeau-Piuze has orchestrated a symphony of dominance for the Flag Moi L’Sac this season. Currently boasting an undefeated 8-1 record in Division 1, Nadeau-Piuze has established himself not just as a division leader, but arguably this winters FPF’s most dominant quarterback. Statistical Supremacy: Nadeau-Piuze’s numbers are nothing short of remarkable. He leads all Division 1 quarterbacks with a staggering 55 touchdown passes in just 9 games.  His accuracy is pinpoint, completing an impressive 72.7% of his passes (176 completions out of 242 attempts).  Turning into to a league-leading 2,066 yards passing, showcasing his ability to dissect defences with both short and deep throws.  Perhaps most impressive is his near-flawless decision-making, evidenced by his solitary interception thrown all season.  He’s also only been sacked five times, demonstrating great pocket presence and his quick release. Nadeau-Piuze is on pace for a truly historic season.  With one game left and the ability to reach 60 plus TDs this season, this places him as a strong contender for the QBOY award but also potentially adding his name to the FPF record books for touchdown passes in a single season.  If Nadeau-Piuze can maintain his otherworldly performance, he will lead Flag Moi L’Sac not only to a dominant regular season but potentially all the way to the Div 1 Championship.

WROY: AJ Gomes- Royaume Luminaire, one of the best receivers in FPF pairs up with one of his favorite QB’s and take on division 1 while Dan Lazarra sits out this winter season due to injury. Coming off a tier 1 WROY AJ caught 18 TDs in 8 games and has the ability to do much more with the one or two extra games! Keep an eye out for some huge games from Aj this season as Jesse Dupuis loves to feed the beast.

Simply put it has not been what I expected his season to look like. Aj has only played 7 games of Royaume Luminaries 9 and their 4-4-1 record might be different had he played all 9. Same with his season stats. His 22 catches 264 and 7 Tds are not bad considering Jesse Dupuis has spread the ball around a lot this season. Aj won’t win an Award but if he’s available he’s always a threat especially in the postseason.

Award Leader: Anthony Brisebois- The Jamesons

Anthony Brisebois has emerged as the breakout star for the Jamesons this season, establishing himself as one of the most dangerous receivers in Division 1.  In just 8 games, he has become a focal point of the Jamesons’ offense, and with two games remaining, he has a legitimate shot at leading the league in receiving yards, receptions, and touchdowns. A Statistically Stellar Season, Brisebois’ numbers are undeniably impressive.  He has hauled in 41 receptions on 49 targets, showcasing not only his ability to get open but also the trust his QB, Jeff, places in him.  His 523 receiving yards rank him highly amongst Division 1 receivers, and his true brilliance shines through with 15 touchdown catches.  With a strong finish to the season, Brisebois has the potential to etch his name atop the league’s receiving leaderboard in multiple categories.

DPOY: Zach Alexis- Party Crashers, With his CFL experience as a DB, his indescribable speed and solid hands, Zach Alexis has the ability to secure one INT a game and wouldn’t be surprised if he ended with 1 INT a game. Note to Div one Qbs throw away from this man!

Zach Alexis has not been able to get his hands on any Interceptions this season. Party crashes haven’t been a big threat so its only normal he won’t have a large impact. To be honest DPOY is wide open right now, After Guillaume Paquet theres a handful of players hovering around 3 4 and 5 Ints.

2-Way: James Drysdale- Braves, James Drysdale has been a rising star in this league and I think James has the opportunity to reach the top of his game this season. I know there are a lot of mouths to feed in this Braves offence but I do believe they are going to be one of the highest scoring teams so there will be plenty of touchdowns to go around. James’ speed, height and route running truly make me a threat across the field. James has had multiple season with 14+ receiving touchdowns and 4 or 5 picks. If James can have his routine offensive stats and get to 5 INT’s this season, this award is his.

While James is having a good offensive year leading the team in yards and TDs with 449 and 10 respectively. The Braves defence just hasn’t forced many turnovers. With only 1 INT on the season and only 3 games to go it will be tough for James to catch the beast that has been Guillaume Paquet

Award Leader: Guillaume Paquet= Flag Moi L’sac

Guillaume Paquet, The Definition of a Two-Way Terror for Flag Moi L’Sac. Guillaume Paquet has redefined the concept of a two-way player for the Flag Moi L’Sac this season.  Leading his team along side Alex Nadeau-Piuze to an impressive 8-1 record in Division 1, Paquet has established himself not just as an offensive problem but also a defensive nightmare, making him the leader for the league’s “Two-Way Player of the Year” award. On offense, Paquet is a danger for opposing defences.  He leads the league with a staggering 19 touchdown receptions in just 8 games.  His sure hands and precise route running have made him the go-to target for quarterback Alex Nadeau-Piuze, and their connection has fuelled Flag Moi L’Sac’s high-powered offense.  With 39 receptions for 427 yards, Paquet is not just a scoring threat but a consistent offensive weapon. Paquet’s impact extends far beyond the offensive side of the ball.  He also currently leads Division 1 with a remarkable 7 interceptions, showcasing his ability to read quarterbacks and create turnovers.  Two of these interceptions were even returned for touchdowns, further highlighting his game-changing ability on defense.  His presence in the secondary provides a significant boost to the Flag Moi L’Sac defense. Paquet’s ability to excel on both sides of the field is truly special.  He possesses the offensive skillset of a star receiver combined with the instincts and ball skills of a lockdown defensive back. With one more game to play i dont this anyone will be able to catch his season stats and impact.

Thats all for today, hopefully ill have a quick turnaround and we can check out the Div 2  award races.
