We Goin’ Sizzler – Week 10

We take a close look at Division D week 10, with only one week to go, the playoff picture is very tight. With the results this week, we saw the top teams solidify their spot, it is great to see so many teams pushing for that D1 playoff spot. Let’s look at the standout performances that helped their teams get the win.

Let’s get to the sizzle!

We begin with the Johnny Utah: MATHIEU KIELJAN went 14 for 20 for an impressive 217 yards with 6 TDs and 0 INTs as PARDON MY SWAG defeated CLINKERS 45 – 26. A good showing by CLINKERS with 26 points but PARDON MY SWAG were way too strong.

Next, we have the Rod Tidwell: ZACH ZWIRN had 8 catches on 8 targets for 106 yards and 2 TDs as BRUINS put KISS MY END ZONE to bed 38 – 20. BRUINS continue to climb back up, can they get the top seed back?

The Earl Megget goes to BENJAMIN MCMAHON who ran 8 times for 76 yards and 1 rushing TD. VULTURES defeated GOLGANG 39 – 28. Can VULTURES hold on to top seed? They will have to wait and see what BRUINS do with their last game.

On defense, the Stefan Djordjevic goes JUSTIN BLANCHARD who had 3 INTs as HOT SAUCE SPORTS upset JOHNNY FIREBALL 27 – 26. Warming up at the right time, HOT SAUCE SPORTS look poised to take the D2 playoffs by storm.

The Bobby Boucher goes to JAMES DRYSDALE for the second week in a row, he had a monstrous 5 SKs and forced the QB into a 58% completion average as VULTURES defeated GLOGANG 39 – 28.

Lastly, the Becky ‘Icebox’ O’Shea for best 2-way performance goes to ARIEL LIBRATI who had 3 catches on 6 targets for 58 yards and 1 TD while added 2 INTs, 2 PDs and a pick six on defense. The performance helped PD’S AND NEGRONIS dismantle TUTS AND PARLAYS 34 – 0.

My pick for Games of the Week did not disappoint but say one team run away with the win. AROUCH 32 – 13 THE NEW GUYS, this was a much-needed win for AROUCH after the surprising loss last week. The team played well defensively and gave their offense a short field to play with by intercepting NIKKI PAPICH three times. Offensively they managed to put up the points, but ERIC LALONDE had two INTs of his own. ANTOINE PRÉFONTAINE was clutch in the red zone catching 2 passes on 2 targets for 6 yards and 2 TDs. The win puts AROUCH tied for 2nd spot, with one game left they will look to clinch a top 3 next week. THE NEW GUYS falter for the second week in a row and things do not get easier for them next week. Look for them to finish middle of the pack.

Another game that caught our attention was HOT SAUCE SPORTS 27 – 26 JOHNNY FIREBALL. HOT SAUCE SPORTS were down 14 – 6 at half time but came firing back in the second half with 20 points. It was a solid performance by PAOLO DELLA ROCCA who threw for 215 yards and spread the ball around, hitting 4 different receivers for TDs. Defensively JUSTIN BLANCHARD had 3 INTs, taking the game out of JOHNNNY FIREBALL’s hands. HOT SAUCE SPORTS are heating up at the right time and could finish tied for 3rd spot with a win next week. JOHNNY FIRREBALL end their season and look content to be in the D2 playoffs.

Now, for Teoli’s FPF Almanac 2021.

THE STOICS [5-4-0] vs KISS MY END ZONE [3-5-1]

THE STOICS win this one, CHRIS RIVEST will continue his stellar play and will out-throw MATHIEU ‘BOURNE’ DOMON.

CLINKERS [2-7-0] vs LES BLUES BRANLEURS [4-4-1]

CLINKERS are coming off a loss in which they looked good, putting up 26 points. I don’t believe it is enough of a progression to get the win versus a solid LES BLUES BRANLEURS who haven’t lost since week 6. Their defense is a bit suspect so expect a high scoring game.

LOYOLA [1-8-0] vs FIGHTING ILLINI [3-6-0]

FIGHTING ILLINI have really been struggling in the second half of the season but with a playoff spot on the line, they will be hungry for the win against a sub-par LOYOLA.

AROUCH [7-2-0] vs TUTS AND PARLAYS [5-4-0]

Odds say AROUCH win this one, but they have shown some weaknesses lately and TUTS AND PARLAYS need the win to finish in the top half of the table. They will put in a solid effort but AROUCH win by 2.

LOS SIETE AMIGOS [7-2-0] vs THE NEW GUYS [6-3-0]

On paper it is a fair match-up, but LOS SIETE AMIGOS have looked better lately, especially offensively. THE NEW GUYS have struggled to put up points and this will continue. LOS SIETE AMIGOS win big.

HOT SAUCE SPORTS [5-4-0] vs MEAN GIRLS [4-4-0]

MEAN GIRLS have won four games but even in their wins they have allowed way too many points against. Going up against the high-octane offense of HOT SAUCE SPORTS and having two games this week will be a real problem for MEAN GIRLS. HOT SAUCE SPORTS win.

PARDON MY SWAG [8-1-0] vs TOPSZN [4-5-0]

PARDON MY SWAG are guaranteed to finish in top spot, so they might approach this game differently. TOPSZN sit in 10th spot and a win could take them out of the D1 playoffs and into the easier D2 playoffs. TOPSZN win this one.

REPLACEMENTS [0-8-1] vs BRUINS 8-1-0]

BRUINS win big, not even sure REPLACEMENTS will be able to field a team. They were no shows last week and seem to have lost the motivation to play. BRUINS will be looking for the win to put them back in top spot.

TOUGH LUNGS [5-3-1] vs LOCKDOWN [2-6-1]

Mathematically, TOUGH LUNGS can finish as high as 3rd spot with a win here. They would need a lot of help and it is highly improbable, but the extra motivation doesn’t hurt. LOCKDOWN were gifted the win last week and will not be able to get the win this week. Hopefully, they can stay in a playoff spot and live to fight another day.

GLOGANG [3-4-1] vs MEAN GIRLS [4-5-0]

Both teams play twice this week so fatigue and roster selection might be an issue. If the players show up, MEAN GIRLS take this game. They are just a bit better in all facets of the game.

BALLIN 60’S [2-7-0] vs GLOGANG [3-4-1]

So, you’re telling me there’s a chance?! BALLIN 60’S can still make the playoffs with a win here. Under normal circumstances, impossible, but with GLOGANG playing twice and guys having to ask their significant others for a second day away from home, maybe. BALLIN 60’S win and make the playoffs, why not?

SPERA’S LEGION [2-6-1] vs TRAPSTARS [6-3-0]

TRAPSTARS win big. SPERA’S LEGION gave up big points last week with a forfeit to a team right under them. Not sure they will show up for this one, physically or mentally. TRAPSTARS can move up into 3rd spot with a win, to tank or not to tank?

Playoffs, we talkin ‘bout playoffs!

The week 10 playoff picture is very unclear, with way too many different scenarios. Here is what it could look like but expect lots of movement by the end of the week.

Looking forward to week 11, we will be picking an MVP at every position and building our very own BIG D DREAM TEAM. We will also finally have an official playoff bracket, the predictions continue.

The game to watch is HOT SAUCE SPORTS [5-4-0] vs MEAN GIRLS [4-4-0] September 2nd 10pm Brossard (1). Check it out if you can.

Until next week, Pain Heals. Chicks Dig Scars. Glory Lasts Forever.
