Undefeated Teams in CO-ED 3 heat up the Division!

Welcome to Week 4! A week where some teams only have 1 game played and others have 3. We are starting to see the split of the division become more apparent as the weeks go by and I can’t wait to see who sits atop the Division when we hit our Mid-Season Review! For those of us working on a School schedule, March Break is coming closer! Despite being 5 weeks away, I cannot help but count down the number of working days until I can sleep in, relax and recoup (even if it’s just for a bit). Nothing beats a warm blanket on the couch, cuddling up with your significant other (my cat), and watching your favorite Marvel movie. So, in the spirit of loving the mid-year mini vacation, I have composed a small list of the places I’d love and hate to go to for Spring Break!

LOVE: New Zealand – Heard it’s the safe and beautiful version of Australia that I actually wanna visit. Plus: Lord of the Rings and Rugby…. Need I say more?

HATE: Australia – I have a real Love/Hate relationship with this place. I’d love to visit so bad, but then I remember about the Spiders, Snakes, Box Jellyfish, Sharks, Crocodiles, etc…

LOVE: Nova Scotia – I mean, what more needs to be said about the greatest place in Canada.

HATE: Bermuda Triangle – I don’t like open water, and seeing as this place is called the “Devil’s Triangle”, I’m not getting close! Even if it was a FREE cruise!

LOVE: Playa Del Carmen – Listen, I’m terrible with geography. I regularly lose track of which municipality or city I’m in, let alone another country or area or whatever! So I’m not sure if this place is in Mexico or Cancun or if that’s actually the same thing!? But I do know that the resorts here are awesome!

HATE: Mariana’s Trench – As cool as this place is in Pacific Rim and all those other movies, spending a week here would probably suck and getting there would be too much pressure.

LOVE: Ireland – I love the accent. I’d hope to absorb it and come back with a permanent accent. Also, I heard it’s nice and rainy.

HATE: The Arctic Circle – DUDE! Polar Bears. ‘Nuff said.

I hope this helps in planning your next vacation or March Break! I’ll be staying in MTL this Spring Break, because I have like 5 football games that week, but I’ll live vicariously through the rest of you! Quickly, before I start thinking about skipping all my games so I can lie on a beach in March, let’s dive head first into Week 4’s Article! I only had time to review 1 team this week. The last 2 will have to wait until next week!

FROM THE HORSE’S MOUTH:

  • Holy Cowabunga! HALF N’ HALF came away with a big win against an ECLIPSE that I thought would be very strong out of the gate! ECLIPSE is now sitting at 1-2 and have 2 very tough games coming up in their schedule (AT LEAST WE TRIED and BLOCK PARTY). Gabriel Poulin came out swinging in his debut at QB and was able to put up 3 TDs to win against ECLIPSE. Having watched the game, it was evident that he has a good arm, and once he learns the timing with some of his receivers HNH will be a revitalized team!
  • BLOCK PARTY was able to squeak away with a win, 27-24, against P’TITS VITES, keeping their undefeated streak alive! Sitting at 3-0, the only team in their schedule that I would give the odds to in a match up would be AT LEAST WE TRIED, who they face in week 10. Can anyone else dethrone these titans of CO-ED 3, or am I hyping up a team who is benefitting from a favorable schedule? With every week, my skepticism dissipates.
  • Another week off for AT LEAST WE TRIED. Are teams being lulled into a false sense of security in their absence, or have teams been too scared of BLOCK PARTY to notice? With the majority of the Division having more losses than wins, how easy will it be to avoid the Elimination spot?
  • SHOW ME YOUR TDS have allowed the most points in the divisions (100) but have still stayed out of the Elimination Spot and put up 37 points 2 weeks ago! They now go against a MICHAEL SCOTT’S TOTS who don’t have Kenny Boutilier to fall back on. Kenny being injured means that I will probably have to throw and our defense suffers. Will SHOW ME YOUR TDS finally get what they want and expose our team or will the TOTS band together with their lithium batteries and pull out a surprising win?
  • I won’t give a long breakdown of my team’s game again, but I would like to say: GREAT GAME to THUNDER VILLAINS! MICHAEL SCOTT’S TOTS was almost able to take the lead and win on the last drive of the game. After burning time and finally getting it to the final 5 plays, MST got a 1st down and started trying to punch the final TD in… But we couldn’t! With an exceptional defensive showing, the THUNDER VILLAINS were able to block MST from the endzone! Going against P’TITS VITES this week, THUNDER VILLAINS are looking to get back on their horse and show that what happened against AT LEAST WE TRIED won’t happen again!
  • I’m happy that all teams with only 1 win will be playing this week! FLAMINGOS get the raw end of the deal, having to go against BLOCK PARTY, while THUNDER VILLAINS, MST, SMYTDs, and P’TITS VITES all head into their 4th game. Out of the 4 teams that are playing their 2nd game, I think BANDIT(E) and AIGRE-DOUX will be the ones to walk away with another win beside their names.
  • I know it’s early in the season, but by golly, I really think Jérémi Thompson OReilly is beginning to take a firm lead as 2-Way Player of the Year. I will be keeping an eye as more games are being played, but as it stands, I think he is a talented player who needs to be watched at all times. While this is going on, Mathias St-Jean is trying to claw ahead of Alexia Roy and the other rushers who are hot on his tail, there is a fierce battle for #1 QB that still isn’t clear to me, (though what is clear is that Kenny Boutilier is leading the stats as a Rushing QB!) and BLOCK PARTY is sporting 2 of the top 3 most targeted receivers. The race for the Awards is heating up and I’ll be giving my vote for each position closer to week 10-12!

A QUICK GLANCE AT THE COMPETITION:

HALF N’ HALF

Last Winter, in 2023, HALF N’ HALF was born. And although they were a new team, they weren’t all new players. Camille Ste-Marie, Gabriel Wiseman and his entourage of family, and Philippe Aussant were all somewhat experienced players, and with their new recruits, they seemed primed for a good season. Surprisingly, they lost their first game, against Daryll Dorcely’s SNEAKY SNAKES, and decided they wouldn’t do that again – they decided to try out new talent Kristopher Verreault at QB next game. Fast forwards a few weeks: HALF N’ HALF find themselves winning the CO-ED finals with Verreault at QB, Gabe Wiseman with an astonishing 14 TDs, and a combined team defensive total of 27 INTs, 21 Sacks, 36 PDs and 5 PICK-6’s. They were untouchable. Now, a full year later, their roster has changed quite a bit.

Kristopher Verreault shot up the ranks of FPF and can no longer throw in CO-ED 3 and despite being on the roster, Gabe Wisman has not actually touched the field because of his high Cap. So how can this HALF N HALF team recover? If they continue with Gabriel Poulin at QB then they just may have that chance! Able to win last week, Gabriel was able to put up some great passes! Max Thompson and Malachai Roach have become big targets on the offense, while Tahnyus and Jahmaal continue to dominate the defense. I would like to see some of their ladies being used more on offense;  Marie-Anne Landry-Duval and Camille Ste-Marie are great targets that can usually make plays regardless of who is paired against them! Defensively, Camille is pushing her team forward with a whopping 4 sacks, while Max tries to take away anything from the air. I think last week can mark the turn around point for this team and I am excited to see them in a few weeks when they settle into their roster!

Predictions: 5-5

DEATH BATTLE BREAKDOWN:

PERFECT STRANGERS vs BANDIT(E)

“Ta-da-da-da, da-da, da-da, da-da-da-da-da, Beautiful stranger” – Seriously, if you haven’t listened to that song yet, stop reading this – Go do it. Good. Now that you’re back, let’s talk about how these PERFECT STRANGERS are looking to bounce back from BLOCK PARTY, and BANDIT(E)s are looking to keep the wins coming. Checking in from my Week 1 review –  Frederic and Antoine Meunier did not play in their first game, so I wonder if they will be at Game 2? Alex was able to put up 2 TDs against BLOCK PARTY, but if Antoine is gone again, will they also struggle against BANDIT(E)s? On the flip side of the coin, BANDIT(E)s have gotten an early win against DREAMKILLERS and now, if they win against the STRANGERS they will have very easily accomplished my prediction of 2 wins! Maybe I should switch STRANGERS to 2-8 and BANDIT(E) to 6-4?

I had suspected Vincent Richard to be tossing the ball for BANDIT(E)s offense, unless a new behind the scenes QB emerged, and out pops Xavier Parent. He has done a great job spreading the ball to his receivers in his first game of the season and their defense accumulated 4 INTs as well, making it nigh impossible for any team to overcome. Vincent Richard did make a splash, alongside the Desroches (sibling?) duo, they all scored an offensive TD and an INT on defense! I believe the momentum is high for this team and they will be able to overcome the out of sync STRANGERS. BANDIT(E)s steal this win!

Prediction:  PERFECT STRANGERS 14 – 31 BANDIT(E)
