Turning Up the Heat in Week 2

Week 2

Welcome to the FPF week 2 Division C article. The action is heating up as teams continue their search for chemistry and competitive games in what promises to be an exciting season. With the first week in the books, we have already seen some exhilarating games and stunning performances. One thing that was absent from week 1 was upsets. According to my thoughts and predictions all the favourites of week 1 won. Also I will be calculating my overall prediction record throughout the season. For the first time I went perfect on the week. The second week brings with it new challenges and opportunities for teams to showcase their skills and prove that they have what it takes to emerge as a top team in the division. In this article we will take a closer look at the matchups for this week, highlight key players from last week, and like always offer my predictions for the games ahead. So, sit back, relax, and get ready for another thrilling week of Division C Flag Football.

Matchup preview

Bible study (1-0) vs.  TOPSZN (1-0)

Welcome to the first spotlight matchup of the spring season. I believe I’ve chosen a good one to kick off this segment for this season. I circled this highly anticipated game between Bible Study and TOPSZN as soon as the schedule got released. Both teams are coming off impressive victories in their opening games and will be looking to build on that momentum. Bible Study will be led by their upcoming star quarterback Rocco Christiano, who had a sensational game in their last outing. Christiano threw for five touchdowns and had zero interceptions, showcasing his accuracy and ability to move around in the pocket to get his receivers open. He will be looking to continue his hot start and lead his team to victory once again. On the other side of the field, TOPSZN was without their talented Parent brothers last week. However, it did not matter as they still have Carter Soles, who stole the show in their last game. Soles had four touchdowns and two interceptions on the defensive side, proving to be a threat on both ends of the field. He will be looking to replicate his performance and help his team secure another victory.

Both teams will be looking to maintain their unbeaten record and claim bragging rights in this exciting matchup. The game promises to be a high-scoring affair with both teams possessing dangerous offensive weapons and skilled quarterbacks. The key will be which team can limit their opponent’s scoring opportunities and create the most turnovers even though I think there will be seldom. Overall, this game is shaping up to be an exciting contest with both teams evenly matched. It will come down to execution on both sides of the ball as both teams have great athletes.

I think this game will be tied leading into the final 5 plays of the game where TOPSZN will have a chance to take the lead. I think they capitalize on their final drive and win it 35-28.

Bottom 5 prediction

I thought about not doing this segment as to not discourage any teams but this is Div C and like Sylvester Stallone once said “the world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows”. Also if your team appears in this list, its not that I think you’re bad football players, I simply think with your roster compared to the rest of the division in accordance to your schedule,  believe you will have to grind out games each week in order to come close to a playoff spot. Just like my top 12 list last week, this will help immensely when writing my mid-season report cards.  In no particular order here are the teams I predict will unfortunately not be part of the post season.

Mengoose

Another team to move up from division 4 is Mengoose. They struggled a little in div 4 as they finished the season 3-6-1. They did make the playoffs as one of the last seeded teams but were bounced in the first round by Hot Sauce Sports. They do have some great athletes such as Charles-Olivier Lavigne and Felix-Antoine Lavigne but I don’t think their roster as a whole will be strong enough to win more then 4 games this season. They lost week 1 to Trapstars and their schedule doesn’t get much lighter as they face Hot Sauce Sports, Kiss My Inlaws and Dime in Bougie in consecutive weeks in the second half of their schedule. Felix-Antoine Lavigne needs to limit turnovers if they want to win games and find themselves in the post season.

Primal

Primal is another team like killer rays to take the huge leap from division 5B to div C. They had a successful 8-2 season last winter but I don’t see them having the same success they did last winter. They did add a offensive weapon in Jared Buck who has the experience of playing QB in higher divisions. He will need to take Mederic Lauzon under his wing and try to give him as many tips as possible to deal with the more complex coverages he will witness. Unfortunately I don’t see them winning against many of their opponents this season, simply due to their inexperience and tough schedule.

All Madden

I decided to put All Madden on this list due to their inexperience and my lack of knowledge of their players. I think this team has somewhere between 2-4 completely new unrated players which does make it difficult to predict how successful they can be. Their Qb Darius Simmons has never played in FPF before and normally Div C isn’t the best division to kick off your career in. But I truly do wish this squad the best of luck and would gladly offer any advice or plays that may help them enjoy their season and get some wins.

Never Overtime

Never Overtime led by my friend and past teammate Olivier Sabourin regrettably also make my bottom 5 list. Olivier has a great football mind and can sling the rock quicker then anyone I know. His movement in the backfield is also great but his surrounding crew does limit him. They’re week 1 loss to Bible Study doesn’t give me much hope for them this season. They ended their div C season 3-7 and I predict them to end their spring season in similar fashion.

Air Force 1.2

I contemplated leaving this team off this least due to their experience in the league and them having played in div 3 last winter. Sadly their winter season wasn’t as successful as they had hoped as they ended the season 2-8. They’re also coming off a big loss to FlagFools who are a good team but not a team that is going to be scoring 40+ points every week. I think last winters record and them coming out of week 1 with a loss is what pushed me to put them in the bottom 5. Lets see if they can prove me wrong.

Week 1 Top Performers

QB: Jules Regimbald- Dime and Bougie

Week 1’s Qb of the week goes to none other than QB Jules Regimbald. Regimbald put on an exceptional performance in his team’s game, leading them to victory with his outstanding accuracy and decision making on the field. Throughout the game, Regimbald showed remarkable thowpower and precision, completing 17 out of 23 passes for a total of 241 yards and an impressive 7 touchdowns. His passes were on point like usual, finding his receivers in stride and putting his team in the best possible position to score. His remarkable display of talent and athleticism is a joy to watch for both his teammates and passerby’s alike.

WR: Tristan Fiske-Casault- Bessette et Ses Potes

Throughout the game, Tristan Fiske-Casault was a force to be reckoned with, leading his team to victory with his outstanding playmaking ability. He showed impressive agility and speed, running precise routes and making difficult contested catches to help his team move the ball down the field. His contributions were critical, as he caught 5 of the 6 passes thrown his way, totalling 50 yards and scoring an impressive 3 touchdowns. He was easily the best target for QB Frédéric Paquette-Perrault. Fiske-Casault’s performance might be a testament to his hard work and skill as he might be their newest go to reciever. He remained focused and determined throughout the game, never losing sight of the goal and doing everything in his power to help his team succeed.

DEF: Vincent Benjamin- Kiss My Inlaws

The best defensive player last week was easily Vincent Benjamin of Kiss My Inlaws. He was a force to reckon with as he snagged 2 INT’s and even took one to the house. Kiss My In-laws had no issues against Dirty birds and aside from their offensive outburst their defence was solid only allowing 18 points against. This team is stout and full of athletes, expect to see them appear of these lists often.

2-WAY: Carter Soles- TOPSZN

Last but definitely not least, Carter Soles for TOPSZN easily had the best statistical game across the division. With the absence of Brandon Parent, Soles was the primary target for TOPSZN. He caught all six passes thrown his way for 120 yards and 3 touchdowns. Not only that but he also was able to pick off Darius Simmons twice. He truly balled out and in excited to see more from him.
