Weekly Headlines

Bible Study lose on a 4 game losing streak!

With their backs against the wall, Bible Study enters their final game with a renewed sense of purpose, eager to break free from their four-game losing streak. Despite the recent struggles of quarterback Rocco Christiano, who has faced challenges with interceptions in the past four games, the team remains strong in their belief in his abilities and leadership. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Bible Study’s offense recognizes they must do more to secure wins, aiming to reignite their scoring power and overcome their recent scoring average of 25 points in their last four losses. However, a potential setback looms as Bible Study’s leading receiver, Jarryd Taylor, faces uncertainty due to an injury suffered in their previous game. His absence would undoubtedly leave a void in the team’s offensive scheme, requiring other players to step up and fill the gap. Despite this obstacle, the entire team is determined to rally together, demonstrating their resilience and commitment to finishing the season on a positive note. This final game holds significant implications, as it represents their last opportunity to salvage their season and achieve a .500 record. Their upcoming game against 4th & Shlong is more than just another win but it is a chance for Bible Study to showcase their character and resilience in the face of adversity. The team is determined to leave it all on the field, leaving behind the frustrations of their recent losses and reclaiming their winning ways.

Dirty Birds win 3 in a row!

With a resounding victory over Les Blues Branleurs in Week 6, the Dirty Birds have found their rhythm and haven’t looked back, stringing together an impressive three-game winning streak. The team’s perseverance and adjustments have turned their initial 1-4 record into a much more favourable 4-4 standing, firmly securing them a comfortable playoff spot. The Dirty Birds’ recent triumphs have been marked by their ability to execute a well-constructed game plan and executing on offence. It appears they have taken may advice or simply realized themselves that retaining Lonnie Johnson at quarterback and Quaid Johnson at wide receiver is a winning formula for the team. Lonnie’s stellar performances have been particularly noteworthy, as he has scored six touchdowns in two out of their last three victories, showcasing his undeniable impact on the team’s offensive success. The Dirty Birds’ victories over Les Blues Branleur, 4th & Shlong, and the Commission demonstrate their ability to compete against strong opponents and cement their reputation as a team on the rise. Their recent surge has injected renewed energy and confidence into the entire roster, igniting a sense of belief in their playoff aspirations. With their offense firing on all cylinders and key players like Lonnie Johnson making significant contributions, the team is generating excitement and optimism. The upcoming weeks will undoubtedly be crucial for the Dirty Birds as they aim to maintain their winning ways and solidify their playoff position. With their recent successes and a newfound sense of cohesion, the Dirty Birds have proven that they are a force capable of making a significant impact in the postseason race if their matchups are right!

Nick Groppini scores 20 TD’s in 8 games!

Simply spectacular, Nick Groppini has outdone himself this season as he broke his own single season TD total which was 18 from last winter. Groppini has already passed that total with one game remaining on the schedule. #1 in TD’s scored and #3 in total yards, there simply isn’t another receiver in Div C that has had the type of output and impact on a game such as Nick Groppini. Randy Moss like if you will! Call me biased because he’s my teammate and cousin but Nick Groppini is the best WR in this division and it shows week after week. Looking to secure his first individual award of his FPF career, one more week of his usual self and he will be Div C’s receiver of the year.

Iggy Manzanedo surpasses 50 passing TD’s on the season

In a remarkable display of skill and IQ, Kiss My Inlaws’ quarterback Iggy Manzanedo has surpassed the 50-touchdown mark for a second consecutive season. Propelling his team to an impressive 6-3 record with one game remaining. Manzanedo’s exceptional play has been instrumental in the team’s success, overshadowing any concerns about his 13 interceptions throughout the season. Manzanedo’s ability to read defences quickly and find open receivers has been a key factor in his remarkable touchdown and yardage production. His decision-making and accuracy have consistently led to explosive offensive performances, allowing Kiss My Inlaws to put up points and compete at a high level against the best of Division C.  Despite not being the fastest or most elusive player on the field, Manzanedo’s exceptional field awareness and agility have made him a challenging target for opposing rushers. His ability to elude sacks and escape pressure has been nothing short of remarkable, by being sacked only once in nine games. Manzanedo’s elusiveness has not only saved potential negative yardage but has also extended plays, providing his receivers with additional opportunities to make big plays downfield. While interceptions can be a concern for his case for QBOY, Manzanedo’s overall performance this season cannot be overlooked. His outstanding numbers and ability to lead the team to victories have undoubtedly overshadowed any occasional mistakes. The team’s 6-3 record is a testament to his impact and ability to elevate the offense. As Kiss My Inlaws prepare for their final game of the season against Bessette et Ses Potes, Manzanedo’s remarkable season stats and his ability to consistently perform at a high level will undoubtedly instill confidence in the team to get one final win before the post season.

Spotlight Matchup

Record Prediction 4-2

Dime and Bougie (8-1) Vs. Backyard Bullies (7-2)

There isn’t many games that I circle when looking weeks ahead at the begging of the season but this was absolutely one that caught my eye. Assuming these would be two of the top 5 teams I knew this game would be a big one. Here we are 10 weeks later and we have the #1 seeded Dime and Bougie (8-1) take on the #2 seeded Backyard Bullies (7-2) in a matchup that has all the makings of a potential divisional finals preview. This game pits the young guns of Dime and Bougie against the seasoned veterans of the Backyard Bullies, promising an exciting showdown on the field. The quarterbacks for both teams, Jules Regimbald of Dime and Bougie, and Sean Avraam of the Backyard Bullies, have been exceptional throughout the season, showcasing their arm strength and playmaking abilities. They each have scored over 40 TD’s and less then 5 INT’s. Their performances have been instrumental in guiding their respective teams to their current top positions in the division. With both quarterbacks having amazing seasons, it will be intriguing to see which defense can disrupt their rhythm and create problems for them. Defensively, Dime and Bougie have been statistically superior, boasting a unit that has excelled in creating turnovers. With a knack for intercepting passes, they lead the division in interceptions as a team. Their ability to disrupt opposing offenses and capitalize on mistakes has been a key factor in their success. Additionally, Dime and Bougie’s defence features one of the division’s best rushers, Felix Boutet, adding another dimension to their defensive prowess. On the other hand, the Backyard Bullies have a wealth of experience on their side, showcasing a well-rounded defense that has consistently found ways to stifle opposing offenses. With players like Vinny Gualano and Isaiah Allard this team can intercept passes if mistakes are made. As the top two teams in the division, both Dime and Bougie and the Backyard Bullies have set their sights on divisional supremacy and securing a spot in the finals. This game will serve as a test, providing valuable insights into each team’s championship aspirations. I think this will be not only the closes game of the year but also the most exciting. I do think that the pressure from Boutet and that entire Dime and Bougie defence will win the game for Dime and Bougie 38-36.
