Time to Clutch up! Final Week of The Regular Season!

Alright people, this is it. Last week of the regular season. Last week to punch your ticket into the playoffs. Last week to get your team in line and prepared for the real season to begin. There is now a new tab under the standings. It’s the “overall standings.” This is where you’d look to see your current spot come playoff time. Don’t forget the top 8 seeds get a bye.

Big week for Greendale Human Beings! I think Danny Aylward took my prediction of them finishing 5-5 to heart. It was all to motivate you Danny. It worked! They went 2-0, beating KGP Ra and Junkyard Dogs. They beat KGP Ra in a back and forth 39-37 game. Their game against JYD was a little easier. A big reason for that was Matthew Rupcic’s 4 interceptions and 2 pick-6s in that game alone! Baller!

“Blue Chips are gonna be a tough game for any team come playoff time,” said Sanders Armand after his team’s big win over Green Munchs. It was the second time this year that Blue Chips win by getting a touchdown on the last play of the game, and the second time that touchdown came courtesy of Hennessy Oraye. Blue Chips are sitting at 4-6 and hanging on to one of the last playoff spots. The up and down season for them continues.

Les Gros Coqs vs Mangoose lived up to the hype. Highlight reel plays made by both teams with Les Gros Coqs inching away the W, 37-34. If you check the stats you’d think Charles Rousseau-Boulanger had a quiet game, but he came up clutch with a first down catch an on onside attempt late in the contest. Check it out on Youtube!! Game of the week!

With the loss, the Backyard Bullies are officially eliminated from playoff contention. They played Mongoose tough losing by a single point, 26-25. Obviously not the season these guys were hoping for, but I feel they’ve been playing their best football lately. Hope to see them in the spring!

And then there were 4! If any of you has even one of the 4 remaining teams in the Final Four I’d be impressed. I hadn’t even heard of Florida Atlantic before the season started. Gotta say I’m secretly rooting for Miami. My inner Dolphin and Heat fan coming out. Hope you had time to catch some of the action this passed weekend!

After being 5-1-1 and sitting pretty, Junkyard Dogs finish off the season with 3 straight losses. They were in good position to get a playoff bye, but will no longer have that luxury.

Questions to Ponder

How good are G.I.H.F.?

They’re definitely one of the best teams in the division and peaking at exactly the right time. They have won 3 straight games and have scored 40+ points in each of those games. This team has two-way talent all across the board. Chris Colantonio is one of the most underrated players in the entire division. He and McMahon have a great feel of the game and always seem to be on the right page. He only has 2 touchdowns on the year, but his catches are timely and usually almost always move the chains. By now everyone and their great grandmother knows Ben McMahon. One thing very impressive about him is his football IQ. He does not force the ball deep and takes what the defense gives him. However, when you least expect it he’ll take that deep shot and catch your defense falling asleep. G.I.H.F are good. The only team that can beat them, may be themselves…

Can The Infantry still compete with the big dawgs?

Since the unfortunate suspensions dealt to The Infantry, they are 0-2. Not only that, they have only scored a combined 31 points in those games. Some may say their season is all but over, but I’d have to disagree. Corey Walwaski is still one of the division’s best quarterbacks. He still has Quaysie Gordon-Maule, one of the more versatile players in FPF. He’ll have to play an even bigger role for The Infantry to be competitive. Mike Collard will also need to embrace a bigger role as well. Are they as good as they were with the Semerjian brothers? Obviously not. Can they still compete? I believe so.

What’s going on with Free Smoke 1?

I’m honestly not sure. Great analysis by me! In all seriousness I expected more from them. They started off the season 3-0 and have since lost 6 straight. In their last 3 games they have a plus/minus of -52. Big game coming up on Wednesday against Backyard Bullies. I expect them to win. For them to make a run they’re gonna need to start forcing more turnovers and help out their offense. These guys are loaded with talent. If they get into the playoffs they will be a tough out. Gotta get their first though.

Which Team under .500 can make the most noise in the playoffs?

KGP Ra. Their experience alone is enough to “upset” anyone in the playoffs. They are coming off a very impressive win against Speed Academy, winning 47-30. Dylan Garber has done a good job at the QB position, throwing 39 TDS and 6 interceptions on the season. When this team is on, they’re on. They have surprisingly had their peaks and valleys this season, but trust me you do not want to play them come playoff time.
