The Madness of March! Playoffs Around the Corner!

Unfortunately I’m gonna start the article with a bit of difficult news. In the Blue’s Clues vs The Infantry game there was a fight that broke out. I won’t go into too many details except to say that there were obviously suspensions handed out. The players involved got anywhere from a 2 game to a 10 game suspension. This is a huge hit to both teams and their potential championship run. This late in the year it will be hard to find guys to get enough games in to be playoff eligible and replace those suspended for the season.

In other news, for those of who don’t know, Shawn Lafortune for Les Verges Folles is a baller. I saw him score 3 touchdowns on 98 yards against Backyard Bullies. He has 11 TDs in 7 games, and is looking to get his boys into the playoffs.

Green Munchs and G.I.H.F. were in a battle this week. G.I.H.F. came up with the 41-34 win. Neither team lacked passion in this one. Juwan Edghill was talking his talk and so were a lot of the G.I.H.F. crew. Ben McMahon looked like a dad trying to calm his kids down on Christmas morning.

Who likes ties? Lemme answer that one…. NOOOOOOObody. Blackouts and Greendale Human Beings tied at 25 this past week. Both teams sit at 4th in their subdivision. Important stretch of games coming up!

EZW pick up their first dub of the season. QB replacement for EZW, Nic Blais, had a near perfect game. Blais went 24 of 26 for 225 yards and 6 passing TDs. He also got a pick on defense. Curious to see what EZW decides to do moving forward. I’d like for Blais to stay at QB and put Etienne Laurence-Gervais at receiver where he excels. If EZW wins out, they must just punch their ticket to the playoffs.

After starting the season 1-2, Blue Chips have lost 5 straight. They have averaged only 20 PPG in those losses. Their most recent loss coming against Les Maloudes 36-26. They got 2 games left to get their you-know-what together. Blue Chips are way too talented for their season to end before the postseason.

Ballers of The Week

Quarterbacks

Emile Plante Speed Academy: Emile went 21 of 27 with 284 yards, 7 TDs and no picks against Never Overtime

Nic Blais EZW: As previously mentioned, Blais threw for 225 yards in the win against Arouch. He completed 24 of his 26 passes with 6 TDs and no picks.

Leandre Ethier That’s What She Said: Ethier threw 6 TDs and no picks against Free Smoke 1. He did that completing 26 of his 32 passes on 283 yards.

Wide Receivers

Jimmy Marneris Speed Academy: Marneris caught 6 passes against Never Overtime… 5 of them going for touchdowns! He also tacked on 141 yards.

Marc-Antoine Chaput Mangoose: Chaput caught 4 of his team’s 5 touchdowns on Monday night. He did that on 4 receptions with 76 yards. Talk about efficient.

Defenders

Anthony Drysdale: Anthony had 2 interceptions in his team’s win against Bearskins. He also added 3 PDs.

Francis Haley Silent Ticklers: Haley got 3 sacks is his team’s victory over KGP Ra.

Game Preview

Free Smoke 1 VS Green Munchs

A subdivisional matchup with both teams sitting at 3-4. I saw Green Munchs play this week. Antoine Ouimet does in fact throw an absolutely gorgeous ball. He threw a 40 bomb TD that looked effortless. The next step for him will be continuing to adjust to the differences between flag and tackle. Nelson Volel will be the guy Free Smoke 1 has to keep a close eye on. He has speed to beat any defender and is great at tracking the ball in the air. I would line Jeanslee Alexis in front of him the entire game. Free Smoke 1 has lost 4 straight games. They’re due for a good performance in this one. QB for Free Smoke 1, Jimmy-Lee Janvier, will need to be okay taking what the defense gives him. Nickel-and-diming your way down the field seems to be how to best beat Green Munchs. Their athletes don’t give up many deep shots.

Both teams have depth. Both teams have playmakers. Both teams have two-way players across the board. As most FPF games go, I see this one coming down to the QBs and how they manage the game and their teams. Wouldn’t be surprised to see this game being completed one-sided or a nail-bitter. Both teams have been a little inconsistent. I just can’t see Free Smoke 1 losing a 5th straight game. Free Smoke 1 wins 33 -31.
