Tier 2 Top Matchups of the Week

Week 9

Welcome back to another week of Tier 2 where the playoffs are quickly approaching. I hate winter and I hate the snow so these last two days of snowfall made me very unhappy. There’s still a lot of outdoor tackle football to be played, more importantly playoff football to be played so the winter is going to need to wait a few more weeks. The only two positive things I can associate winter with is Christmas and The FPF Winter season. Speaking of the winter season, the most competitive and most amusing season in my opinion, registration opens November 1st. If you havent already, the time to start creating your winter 2024 rosters is NOW. Start recruiting and creating the most talented rosters that give you the best chance to hoist an FPF championship. Luckily for members of the east-end FPF community like myself, Stade Hebert WILL covered by their winter dome and will be a field offered by FPF.

Since I mentioned tackle football and don’t usually talk about the NFL I want to take a moment to talk about what the season has brought for us football fans. As a Patriots fan, we suck and im sure you’re all so very happy about it. Kansas City has look good and so bad at the same time. Their record screams #1 seed in the AFC but the game film says otherwise. Patty Mahomes has not had his usual output and just my luck because obviously I drafted him in fantasy! Im sure he misses the real speed of Tyreek Hill that Tua is enjoying as Hill has hit 1000 yards in 8 games. Just absurd. As FPF players we love to see Wr’s and offences go off and he’s doing just that. The Eagles and their tush push have overwhelmed the league and even got fancy with it this weekend with a fake which went for a touchdown. I don’t enjoy them being successful but the play is not overpowered and should not be banned, the Eagles are just really good at it. Im going to make a Super Bowl prediction but the truth is I have absolutely no Idea which 2 teams have the real ability to make the Super Bowl. Id imagine the 9ers and Eagles face off for the NFC championship once again but after losing 3 in a row who knows if the 49ers are legit especially when dealing with injuries. Also so many Super Bowl pretenders in the AFC, I can’t truly say I believe in either the Bills or Bengals to make it to the AFC championship with their consistency issues. So essentially your guess is a good as mine but here in week 8 I think this years Super Bowl in Las Vegas will end up being the Buffalo Bills Vs. The Philadelphia Eagles.

Tier 2 Ramblings

  • Kiss My Inlaws are 1 win away form ending the regular season 8-0
  • A 3 way tie for the last 2 seeds in the top bracket between The Stoics, Game Changers and Ambush who are all 3-3-1
  • Every team has at least 1 win this season
  • Rory Semerjian still leads the division in INT’s with 7
  • EZW QB Jeremy White has jumped everyone except Iggy Manzanedo in stats. It looks like well have a big week 10 to decide who wins QBOY
  • Vincent Benjamin has one more game to reach 20 TD’s in 8 games, he sits at 17 so far.
  • Ethan Adrian leads the division is sacks with 12 but has Naz Dhillon on his tail with 11. Who will stand alone as the division leader after week 10?

Weekly Headlines

The Third Tie of the Season

Fins Up and Game Changers spotlight matchup of the week did not disappoint as they tied 32-32. This game was sloppier then I had expected as the total of INT’s for this game was 5. Right out of the gate, the first offensive play for Game Changers was intercepted bu David Gutkovski which led to an early Fins Up TD. QB Anton Sakiz shook off his first INT and was able to score on both of their next 2 possessions. As the final plays of the first half dwindled down anINT from Will Power gave Game Changers the chance to take the lead with a score 20-12. In the second half Game Changers started ro run away with the game as they were leading by 12 points after a pick six from Guimas. Will Power wouldn’t let that shake him as he came out on the next drive and marched down the field and put one in the endzone caught by Marvin Steinberg. With time counting down, Fins Up opted to go for an onside play and was able to convert on a 27 yard pass to DonnDre Borden. Fins Up eventually tied the game and had the chance to take a 1 point lead on the convert attempt but sadly were unsuccessful. Time expired and this heated matchup ended as a tie.  JD Chevalier was the best WR for Game Changers as he hauled in 4 catches for 30 yards and 2 touchdowns in this contest. Game Changers defence was able to create turnovers but were unable to stop Fins Up when it truly mattered and were unable to secure a win. They now fall to 3-3-1 with a high game against Dirty Birds this week.

4 week 9 games

Another small week as there are only 4 games being played in tier 2 this week. 3 games will be played tonight on Nov 1st and the last on Saturday evening. Instead of selecting one exciting matchup as usual for the week, seeing that there is only a few game scheduled this week I thought I would mini preview each of them!

Matchups of the week

Kiss My Inlaws (7-0)  vs.   Ambush (3-3-1)

The undefeated Kiss My Inlaws face off against Ambush in a matchup that promises to be nothing short of thrilling. For Kiss My Inlaws, this game presents an opportunity to close the season with a perfect record, while Ambush seeks to play the spoiler and bolster their own postseason aspirations. Vincent Benjamin, the dynamic wide receiver for Kiss My Inlaws, is on the cusp of a remarkable milestone, with 17 touchdowns in 7 games. With just one more game to play, he sets his sights on an impressive 20 touchdowns in 8 games. His explosiveness and game-changing abilities will undoubtedly be a focal point of KMI’s offensive strategy. However, Ambush quarterback Ben McMahon holds the keys to disrupting Kiss My Inlaws’ quest for perfection. To have any chance at toppling the undefeated giants, McMahon must be nothing short of impeccable. Precision passing, sound decision-making, and, most crucially, zero turnovers will be paramount. Additionally, using his mobility to pick up crucial yards and first downs could prove pivotal in maintaining offensive momentum. Ambush’s strategy must be clear: focus on ruthless execution on offense. Relying solely on defensive stops is not the path to victory against this juggernaut of a team. Ambush must convert on every red zone opportunity and capitalize on extra point attempts, leaving no room for missed opportunities. As the regular season draws to a close, both teams bring their unique strengths and ambitions to the field. Will Kiss My Inlaws cap off a perfect season, or will Ambush rise to the occasion and rewrite the narrative?

Fins Up (4-2-1)    vs.  The Boys are Back (1-6)

Two teams on opposite ends of the spectrum, Fins Up and The Boys are Back meet in a matchup that carries emphasis as we head into the post season. The Boys are Back find themselves in the midst of a challenging season, facing another formidable opponent in Fins Up. The Boys are Back have navigated a tough schedule, squaring off against some of the most potent offenses in Tier 2, including Dime and Bougie, Kiss My Inlaws, and Dirty Birds. Their defensive struggles are evident, having allowed 260 points over seven games and securing only three interceptions.. On the other hand, Fins Up are poised to close out their regular season on a high note, eyeing a fifth victory. With a balanced attack and a defense that’s proven its merit, Fins Up aim to carry their momentum into the playoffs. For The Boys are Back, this game represents an opportunity to showcase their determination in the face of adversity and try to beat a top bracket team before the regular season ends. While their record may not reflect their true potential, they have the chance to leave a lasting impression on the season with a strong performance against a quality opponent. Will Fins Up secure their fifth win and enter the playoffs on a high, or will The Boys are Back pull off a statement victory and turn the tide? With pride and postseason implications on the line, this matchup promises to be a showcase of top flag football at its core.

Dirty Birds (5-2)  vs. Game Changers (3-3-1)

The clash between the Dirty Birds and Game Changers promises to be a pivotal encounter with big implications. The Dirty Birds have shown remarkable resilience, rebounding from a modest 2-2 start to release their true potential. With a surge of momentum propelling them forward, they are poised to make a resounding statement in the final stretch. Quarterback Quaid Johnson has been nothing short of sensational for the Dirty Birds, orchestrating an offense that has been the envy of the league. With an impressive 33 touchdowns and a mere 6 interceptions, Johnson’s precise passing and deep connection with his receivers stand as a testament to the chemistry this team has fostered over the years. On the flip side, the Game Changers find themselves in need of a defining victory to secure a spot in the upper bracket. After a hard-fought tie against Fins Up, where they held a 12-point lead in the second half, Game Changers need to be aware of the challenges that lie ahead. They must understand that nothing short of their absolute best effort will suffice in the final leg of the regular season. This matchup carries significant implications for both teams. For the Dirty Birds, it’s an opportunity to solidify and obtain the best possible seeding in the two bracket and be a force heading into the playoffs. For Game Changers, it’s a chance to find themselves in the top bracket where they can afford a loss and not have their season come to an end.
