The War Room (DB) – Week 6

Week 6:

Last week’s clash of the undefeated paired up the newly formed Motley Crew against the defending champs G-Men, and it was nothing less than a dogfight all game. The defense of the G-Men was futile in their attempt in covering “The Void”. He scorched the once proud defense for 4 Td’s and 93 yards. These stats are made much more impressive if you realize who plays on the G-Men defense (Paul Kamel, Nareg Yessayan, Pavlos Papachristopoulos and Alex Khamis). Mathieu Rene made huge strides in furthering his stranglehold of the “Best QB in Division B” argument. He was an awe inspiring 17/21 for 244 yards and 6 Td’s (which is as close to as a perfect game as I’ve heard in this league). On the other side, the much heralded return of Kings/Convicts pivot Kevin Solarik was anything but triumph. Although he didn’t look that shaky in his first start back on the field, he did struggle late in the game as he tried to put the team on his back and eek out a win. Nonetheless, with or without Solarik in the lineup, Paul Kamel and Company need to figure out why their defense is so brutal. The G-Men were built on trickery and good D. However, it seems in all aspects of their game, that they have lost any semblance of an identity as a unit. For all the action in this clash, feel free to watch the highlights as it was the FPF GAME of THE WEEK.

One Liner Recap’s:

Motley Crew 40 vs G-Men 27: this was Motley Crew making a statement, and G-Men being slapped around on defense like petulant children. Hero of this game can be split between M. Rene and “the Void”.

Choppers 38 vs Primetime Panthers 19: I don’t think anyone questioned this result, but without Rashawn Perry throwing the ball for the Panthers… they don’t stand a chance. Sean Avraam was quite impressive (as was Andrew McDonald) for the Choppers. But both team’s defenses need to get A LOT better.

Kings 39 vs Thundering Herd 13: How the mighty have fallen. Thundering Herd have simply let their emotions and inconsistency consume them. Kings on the other hand are kicking ass and taking names, a big name on that list for Rehan Starwar is “Kevin Solarik’s”

Mercenaries 40 vs Falcons 13: The Mighty Falcons struggled and I place the blame on their gameplan and receivers. Run your assigned routes properly! Tony Testa had a defining game for the Mercenaries as he inflicted his will on the lowly Falcon D.

Predators 33 vs Dip 13: Three Words: Predators, Predators, Predators!

Dirty Birds 38 vs CCI Eagles 12: The Dirty Birds regained glimpses of their old game from Division 4 as they put the game on the shoulders of their leader, Jon Young. He ran for 98 yards, 1 Tds and passed for 5 Td’s.

North Shore 32 vs RHC 27: Another close game for both teams, I really do respect the way RHC plays people tough and had they one or two more x-factors, they would be a hell of a team to play against. North Shore is slowly emerging as a threat for the title and a lot of the “Favorites” are taking notice.

Alkaholiks 12 vs Redemption 7: Admirable defense on Redemption’s part, I expected a blowout in this one. Alkaholiks should have done better however and are not making a case for themselves as an upper echelon team in this division. Lapierre needs to create a sense of urgency in his teammates. Both QB’s had less than 90 yards passing, which is PATHETIC.

Castleton’s Random Thoughts of the Week:

  1. For the Lulz: Note to John Brown, every kid has dreams of playing QB, some come true other must be relegated to throwing TD’s in their dreams. The time has come to hand the reigns over to JP Mancini. It is the most honorable and team driven thing to do at this juncture in the season.

  1. Moe Khan was signed to the RROH for the game against the Shockers. This came as a bit of a surprise considering the situation with S. Cole as their rusher. Whatever the case, good to see you back on the field big guy…

  1. Ravi Mehta: incredible game against the Rainmakers, you truly are a blessed athlete. It makes us all wonder what you would be capable of if you challenged yourself in Division 1 next year.

  1. Nathan Taylor: the man is a natural born leader. He runs his team like a platoon. I’ve seen him yell at his own squad if they get out of hand, even if they are up by a lot. It is this inate ability to keep his game face on and not let complacency set in that separates a good player from a great one.

  1. Predators: GOOD JOB boys, most fulfilling game to watch in Division B last week.

  1. Solarik: Always good for a controversial quote or misguided guarantee. I wonder if this gamble by GM Kamel is prudent. After all, Paul based the G-Men on the Convicts’ offense of years past.

  1. CCI Eagles: Although I firmly believe it would have been more beneficial for you gentleman to play in Div C to refine your skill, you do have plenty of athletes on your team who will make good football players one day. Your offense needs a little bit of work, but I see a lot of raw talent on the defensive side of the ball.

Castleton’s Connection:

Questions:

1. If you could choose three FlagPlus players to have on your side in a bar fight, who would it be and why?
2. If you tried out for American Idol, which song would you sing and why?
3. Name one player you have yet to play with that you would like to line up with..
4. What team would you like your team to meet in the finals and why?

Adi Sharma, DB, RROH, Falcons

1: Daron Basmadjian, Rochdi, and Martin Tougas. That solves the fight part of the question.

2: No Sex in the Champagne room- Chris Rock

3: I’ve had the pleasure of playing with many talented guys, but I would have to say Andre Knights… Seems like a fantastic teammate.

4: For this year, naturally I would love to play the Shockers in the finals, they got 1 and we got 1…. Best of 3 anyone? But at the end of the day any team you play that can get to the finals will be a great game I’m sure.

Marvin Renaud, WR/DB, FOTC

1. First I would choose Ross Castleton because everyone said that he is on steroids, that means he’s agressive and it’s a good thing in a fight. Then I would go with Rehan Sarwar, they told me that he got a secret weapon. Yeah! Someone told me about the BEARD HUG, the legend said that he can almost kill someone with it (that’s why he’s keeping it, for self-defense). And the third but not last, Moe Khan, Do I really need an explanation!?!
LOLL

2. I’m not a good singer, so to perform well, I have to sing something that represents me on FPF so it would be ”Thriller” by Micheal Jackson.

3. hmm!?! I would say Benny Goodfriend, he’s got an amazing arm with good vision, and I know he would always place the ball so I can do spectacular catches.

4. I’ll say three, Triple Sixers, Flying Weasels or KGP Champs. Because they all got awesome QBs that can make your defense look bad, but if I have to choose one, I would say Flying weasels, that would make a great storyline, the Lemieux brothers Flying over the Weasels.

Martin Tougas, QB, Flying Weasels

1. I’m a pacifist so like most Qbs, I need to rely on a solid front line, so first, I would like to have Adi Sharma (The diplomat) in order to at least try to avoid the fight. If not, I would like to have Paul Lapierre so the thugs think twice before going after a guy this size and if that doesnt work I would like to have Jay Barr for the actual brawl, thiis guy is ready to die to help a friend, Irish blood can’t lie. So along with Paul and Adi, I should be fine.

2. I would probably sing an instrumental song…

3. I will name two : Andre Knight and Nathan Taylor. They look like awesome teammates with superior skills that almost match mine.

4. Any team, anytime. I have won many championships during my football career that now I can fully enjoy playing for the fun of the game, my fun is not greater because I play x or y teams. A final is always fun regardless who is the opponent.

JP Mancini, Projected QB, For the Lulz

1.Nathan Taylor because he was a former teammate and never shows any fear. Anthony Daponte because he is my close friend and always has my back. There’s a guy who used to play for the Ruff Ryders who scares the crap out of me just looking at him. I don’t know his name but I would pick him

2.Whichever song I sang would be really bad.

3.Kevin Wyeth because he has an unbelievable arm and Dale Williams because of his leadership

4.Probably KGP Champs. I have always enjoyed playing games against them because I know the guys on their team. They play hard all the time yet they never play dirty or cheap. They are a team that I hate losing to but that I respect as well.

Vadim Chernyak, Utility man, Redemption/Rude Bwoys

1. – Kishon Thompson because he looks like someone who would have your back no matter what.
– Daron Basmadjian, because he looks like someone who would convince the other guys not to fight us.
– Shawn Haney, because of an unknown reason…

2. – I Dont Want To Set The World On Fire by The Ink Spots
That song is stuck in my head.

3. – There are many players I would like to play with. But if I had to pick one, it would probably be Simon Richard from the Falcons.

4. – I would like to play against the Flying Weasels. Because David Faucher has invited me a couple of times to play with his team but I couldn’t… I was playing with other teams. If you can’t join them, beat them…

Quote of the Week:

Hey Daron, how’s that for being Rusty?”

  • Kevin Solarik after throwing a TD in the Gmen vs Motley Crew Game

(Kevin went on to throw a interception and get sacked for a safety in the second part of the game, losing 40-27)
