The Hall of Fame, Power Rankings and A slow Loading FPF Site

Peeze’s Playbook

Week 4

by Paolo Della Rocca

Super Bowl week marks FPF Hall of Fame nominations and soon to be inductions.  Stay tuned for the announcements that will help us fill a week that will be starved for content. Players and a media or staff member will be inducted into a group of fairly exclusive group.  I was honored to be selected by my peers, colleagues and FPF players and was inducted as an FPF media member.

Not many Division 6 players even knew there was a Hall of Fame and are not nominated.  However, it’s yet another interesting component that the league has included and it is something to aspire for (for players looking to play ten or more seasons).

However, Division 6, you are in a fortuitous position.  I have decided that while it is not yes the midseason.  I will use the long week to publish my midseason report reviewing each team’s progress so far and grading them with a system that is related to the unfair predictions for their success and failure that I played upon them in the preseason.  For the meantime, here’s what happened in week 4.

Dirty Landry Takes Team Out for Nice Seafood Dinner: Never to Call Again

I’ve been pumping up Avery Lalla as the next big thing in FPF for a while now.  To be honest it surprises me that he can still throw in division 6.  Until this point he hasn’t entirely lived up to the hype (he also just recently has gotten old enough to drink, to vote and he didn’t grow  up in a world with a wall dividing East and West Germany).  He is young and there will definitely be a time for his dominance. It does appear that that time has started.

After a 27-24 win over a tough Channel 4 News Team Avery Lalla was in top form.  He connected for a pair of touchdowns with Brandon Keiller and scored on strikes to Gabriel Bardetti and Myles Kelier as well. Moreover, the offence was nearly perfect on convert attempts.

Channel 4 News Team played well.  Greg Castiel was the losing quarterback despite posting a 128 Quarterback rating.  In a game that was tight the whole way through C4NT saw 4 different receivers score in a losing effort.  Channel 4 have now lost three straight games but have done so by a combined 12 points.  They are playing well but will need to start turning those efforts into wins if they expect to play in a prolonged season.

Shooting Blanks

The South Shore Seamen have struggled the way most new teams in FPF do.  In their game against Los Siete Amigos the South Shore Seamen showed a real lack of knowledge of our game. The only plays that looked to be somewhat positive were two of Christopher Jarvo’s runs.   They had three players take snaps behind the centre and that was the highest amount of completions for any of them.  Laurent Ouimet completed 3 passes for 3 total yards.  Defensively, many glaring difficulties made it difficult for the Seamen to compete.  Defenders were lined up with their backs to receivers and Louis-Victor Martin simply isn’t fast enough to have an impact as a rusher.  It goes without saying that this 42-0 shutout in favour of the Amigos is hardly surprising.

The star of the game had to be Etienne Brisson who scored two touchdowns on 4 receptions and he threw 2 touchdowns as well. Alexandre Fafard took the highest volume of snaps at the Quarterback position.  He was in complete command of the offence and in addition to the work he did with Brisson he connected with Olivier Claveau for 3 touchdowns. Los Siete Amigos look to be one of the top teams in the division this season and other teams are beginning to take notice.

Elite 8

Each week Marc-Andre Desaulniers and I post our Elite 8 which serve as our power rankings for Division 6 and 6D.  For our weekly picks please take a look at his article.

Division 6

  1. Unknown Talent (3-1): They lead division 6 with a +/- of +92.  It’s a shame to see such cowardice rewarded.
  2. Dirty Landry (4-0):  They were tested by Channel 6 News Team.  They passed said test!
  3. Warriors (3-0): I feel like the early bye has allowed the Warriors to slip under the radar. These pundits haven’t taken notice!  Given that I’m one of the pundits, I guess I got to pay more attention.
  4. Vultures (3-0-1): The Vultures remain undefeated but I thought they would have handled the pack easily.  This is worth monitoring but not a reason to overreact.
  5. Vick in a Box (3-1):  Matt Pisaturo will need to improve on his TD to int ratio but other than that his first season as a QB has been a success!
  6. D2: The Mighty Ducks (3-1): The Ducks are on a 3 game winning streak and Matt Domon looks poised to win his first QB of the year award!
  7. Hot Sauce Sports (3-1):  HSS has won 3 straight in in 2 of those games there were many key players missing.
  8. Average Joe’s (3-1):  The Average Joe’s got rocked by D2. That’s a single loss ot a great team.  It’s worht considering, but we won’t move them down too far.

Division 6D

  1. BBallers (3-1): Our worst fears have come true. BBallers are wrecking teams.
  2. Los Siete Amigos (4-0): A +/- of 107 after 4 games is absolutely insane.
  3. Brewers (3-1): I didn’t see this coming.  Jeff Lefebvre has this offense rolling.  Brewers are starting to make some real noise!
  4. MACDO (3-1): MACDO continue to troll opponents as all three of their “QBs” had pass attempts in their victory over Gold Rush
  5. Les Casses (3-1):  This is a good group of athletes who are learning the game quickly.  These guys look ready for the post season and they’re not even in top form yet.
  6. Trailer Park Boys (3-1):  Antoine Meunier had likely his best game as a starter in his young FPF career. Having a 5 touchdown game is an impressive milestone to reach this early in his career.
  7. Past our Prime Time (2-1): These dudes have only lost to Los Siete Amigos and the Brewers who are two of the top teams in the divisions.
  8. Fighting Tigers (2-1):  Emilio Pampena subbed in at quarterback and the Fighting Tigers won!  They will need to score more than 3 times in a game for long-term success of course.

 Top 8 – 5e semaine

Division 6

Saturday’s Systemic Sisterhood

Just a reminder that players need to play 5 games to be eligible for the playoffs.  It may seem early for a warning but I promise you that the playoffs are around the corner.
