Preseason Preview

It’s officially here. The FlagPlus Football Winter 2016 season is upon us.

I’d like to begin with formal introductions; for those of you who already know me, welcome back. For those who either haven’t heard of me yet or simply have no clue who am I, well, I’ll be your writer for the upcoming season. I’ve been a player in this league since 2010 and I’ve been part of the media since 2012, so we can say, I’ve been around.

Enough about me. This article is dedicated to all the players in Div4 and those who can about the division. I’m not one for long and tedious introductions, so I’ll try to keep ‘em short and sweet; no one cares about intros anyways.

I’d like to take a moment and share a disclaimer with you guys while I still can. These articles are PURELY subjective and only reflect my personal opinion on the matters at hand. I am not God, although I wish I was sometimes, and I could be wrong. I say could, because, let’s face it, I’m getting pretty good at this. If I say anything offensive towards any single individual, take a second to let me know; we all take criticism in a different way and I do not mean to frustrate anyone. My articles are far from nice and sweet and I tend to stray away from being the “gentle writer”.

There’s plenty of ways to contact me, either via our un-used email address ([email protected]), Facebook where I post my articles weekly or via twitter (@DagenaisFPF) or even at the fields (I scorekeep every Saturday in Lachine, so stop by, say hello, discuss whatever topic. Trust me, I’m always happy to talk FPF and I have A LOT of time when I scorekeep).

Don’t hold a grudge. At the end of the day, I didn’t do this to you, YOU did this to you. I just bring up facts and statistics and, well, okay, some judgments. Prove me wrong.

Let’s get started.

Preseason

Division 4 has the luxury, for the first time ever, to be split in half. Div4A and Div4B feature 24 teams based on a slightly different cap and will both feature their very own championships and playoffs and all. The only thing that allows us to call them similar is the fact that a player cannot play in Div4A and Div4B and that they’ll share the same article.

Every week, these articles will feature a fairly similar format that I’ll dig into more profoundly next week as Preseason doesn’t have the same content as normal weeks (The action hasn’t begun just yet, cut me some slack already).

Thoughts of the Week

  • Well, the name of this segment doesn’t really work, but eh.
  • FPF Schedules are much more complicated than they seem.
  • I’m not sure if I’m more thrilled about seeing returning teams, D4 teams that moved to D3 or D5 teams that made the jump to D4.
  • I’ll have to find a new scapegoat as most of my go-to guys moved up. Yes, I meant you, Vinny.
  • I predict more upsets in D4A than in D4B.
  • I’ll be producing the Div4 Podcast, so we’ll actually have different content this year. Yay.
  • I feel sorry for everyone listening to the podcast that’ll have to live through 13 weeks of Brent Callender’s “TRUUUU” random comments. On the other hand, he misses every second week, so it shouldn’t be too bad.
  • I still do not know if I should be scared that I’m covering 2 divisions or not.
  • I did cover 3 divisions at some point in my career. Thanks, Daron.
  • 2 of the greatest haters of, well, me officially fell in line and play for / with me now. This is bound to make interesting trash talk.
  • Many say the end of the Holiday break sucks, but I can’t seem to agree. For me, the end of the break means FPF is upon us and that’s a whole other reason to be merry.
  • Sadly, FPF doesn’t have Rum Eggnog… yet.
  • Really, Brent, you had to choose THIS year to have a long-ass name? You couldn’t just stick with TCO once again, huh.
  • I always admire teams that push themselves and move up divisions. Good for you.
  • The Fellowship of the Ring, really? Weird team name guys.
  • Although Frosty Bronsons gave a good run as best team name in the division, I just have to give it to War Pigs. Some will say it ain’t original, but I like it.
  • There’s so many new rivalries forming in the lower divisions, I’m really glad I’ll be there to see it.
  • That’s a lot of thoughts for one week.
  • Eagle complains a lot more than you’d think.
  • Putting me and Peeze together in the same podcast can only lead to one big ugly mess. It’ll be great.
  • Brace yourselves, games at freezing winter Loyola are back.

FlagPlus Fantasy Football

Okay, I agree, the title is misleading, but bare with me.

It’s a new segment; it’s a new concept, so give it a chance.

Every week, I’ll go over a handful of matchups (I haven’t decided on the precise number just yet. I did ask to bare with me…) between two given players and see who comes on top. No, we will not tally points. It’s a fake fantasy football, okay.

Anyhow, this preseason article will feature matchups for our very famous Week 1 of action. If I’ve decided to feature you here, please, don’t disappoint and play for stats. It’s all about the stats after all. Beat your opponent.

Division 4A

The Head to Head

  • Kyle Lebofsky (Broccasion) vs Francois Raymond (ZOO) : Two amazingly talented players who could play in any given division square off in D4. Lebofsky’s ability to stretch the field might meet his match against Raymond’s speed and vision at safety whereas Lebofsky can cover most men, but is Francois most men?

Position Matchup

  • Devin Daoust (D’s Nuts) vs Alex Holowach (Frosty Bronsons) : The battle of the snapper! Both guys play a different kind of snapper; Daoust uses his chemistry with his brother and speed to go upfield or hits the sidelines whereas Holowach finds the holes in the opposing defenses as the play develops. 2 styles, 2 guys, 1 matchup.
  • Simon Duchesne (Jagerbomb) vs JC Mercille (The Fellowship of the Ring) : This week’s QB duel features a newcomer in Mercille against last season’s Div D Champion in Simon Duchesne. Known to step up with his team needs him to, Duchesne leads a great Jagerbomb offense. Can Mercille keep up in his first season-opener at the pivot?
  • Louis-Philippe Paquette (Maloudes) vs Laurent Ladouceur (Warhawks) : Both players led their respective teams in receiving yards last season. Both can stretch the field or make amazing catches in clutch situations. Who will come out on top in their season opener?

Division 4B

The Head to Head

  • Julien Bellavance (Show me your TDs) vs Maxime Cote (Friends with Benedicts): Two underrated athletes will match up against one another all night on both sides of the ball. Both receivers and safeties will try to put the other to rest on Sunday night. Just to top it off, both their strengths and weaknesses lie in the same traits. It’ll be a great Head to Head to watch for 60 minutes.

Position Matchup

  • Rob Allen (Longhorns) vs Zach Zwirn (Red Sharks): A veteran in touch and flag leagues around Montreal, Allen has been a dominant force at receiver for a long, long time. Zwirn, moving up from the lower division is a seriously underrated talent. Who will walk off winner?
  • Chris Olson (Hooligans) vs Jeff Rosenblatt (Keyport Lock): This week’s QB duel features two veteran FPF players with much to prove in D4 this season. Coming off a bad season, Rosenblatt needs to get started early whereas Olson needs to shake off some rust and show us all he’s still got it. Expect a gritty matchup.
  • Paul Santache (Smash Bros) vs Jean-Christophe Ferland (Golden Flashes): Both players led their team in receiving yards last season and posted pretty impressive numbers. With a new season coming up in a higher division, they’ll have to step it up to keep their team afloat. Can’t wait for this to unfold.

Preseason Rankings

Exceptionally, for the preseason, my Power Rankings will feature every team in the division. The only other team this will happen is at the midseason breakdown. Enjoy it while you can!

Division 4A

  1. Les Maloudes

Last year’s Maloudes came very close to booking their ticket to the Grand Finale, but fell short. This year’s roster feels stronger and the added experience cannot be denied. Their only problem last year was the lack of experience at Quarterback. Add another 10 games and we’ll see a daunting presence. Maloudes won’t go undefeated, but they’ll be the toughest team you’ll have to face all season, regardless of who you are.

  1. The Fellowship of the Ring

JC Mercille debutes his very first season under center and armed himself with amazing weapons. From experienced FPF athletes like Giroux, Duclair and Centomo to Champlain receivers, The Fellowship of the Ring is stacked left and right. Posting a mean 104.8 QBR in his 4 games last season, Mercille might doubt himself, but I don’t. This team’ll be a matchup nightmare and will finish a top seed.

  1. Jagerbomb

Last season’s Division D champions are back to win it all once again. Jagerbomb might not be the flashiest or most dominant team in their respective division, but they win games and that’s all that really matters. Duchesne is clutch and uses his weapons properly. With the return of Daloze, Moreau-Paquette and Marsan, this team has everything it needs to be successful once more.

  1. BearSkins

After posting a 5-5 record in Division B, BearSkins moved down to D4A without the help of Papich, but let’s not forget how talented this team really is. Etinson has enough weapons as it is with Peterson, Bertoldi, Libman and the chemistry he’s developed with his brother and Payne, that this offense will flourish. The gained higher division experience will help their defense and I foresee another great season for the undefeated D4 team from last Winter.

  1. Backyard Bullies

Every Winter, Backyard Bullies gives D4 a run for its money. Rich Humes finds ways to stay competitive and playoff-bound with the help of Steve Sanner, Derrick Fontana and others, but adding Vinny Gualano to his receiving corps and to add depth and talent on his defense makes the Bullies ever more threatening. With these kinds of weapons, Backyard Bullies are definitely a top 5 favorite this season.

  1. Bruthers

Last year, the Bruthers took us all by surprise by having a rollercoaster season in D4. One week they dominated, the other they flat-lined. This year, they are back with a purpose and help from Bobby Mikelberg. What they lacked in experience will be more than covered from Mikelberg’s help and Tajfel might actually post a very impressive stats line feeding the likes of O’Brien and Rapps all season. 6th might even feel a bit low for these guys.

  1. Warhawks

Warhawks were absolutely dominating last season in Division D posting the nastiest +/- we’ve seen in a long time before falling flat in their last 3 games including the first round of playoffs losing a tight one to the Jagerbomb (who ended up winning the Championship). Back with a purpose, Warhawks’ added experience and chemistry should propel them to the top of their conference.

  1. TOPSZN

TOPSZN had a rough time last season in Division C battling with a revolving door at Quarterback (possibly the most important position in FPF). The roster was good, the team had what it takes, but the problem at pivot stung ‘em. This year, they’ve added a decorated player in Anton Sakiz and they know make the top 10 in the division. Expect them to be loud and vicious; these guys can ball and Sakiz will enjoy his new weapons.

  1. Broccasion

Having registered a 5-man roster, I’m not sure whether I should be worried about Broccasion’s intentions or not. Nonetheless, this team knows how to win and the 5 players listed is, well, all they really need to win big. With Kristian Cerantola back under center, the entire Broccasion roster just seems to flourish and win games. They are ranked 9th, but hey, they haven’t submitted the whole roster, so we’ll just have to wait and see.

  1. 69ers

Every year, we underestimate 69ers and they fly under the radar. Every year, they post good stats lines and make a push in the playoffs and win games. This year will be different and I will shine light upon thee. With Dylan Drake back at rusher, Dean Demetriou doing his thing and Harbour distributing the football, expect these guys to line up to play ball when the 12th week comes.

  1. Recipe 4 Disaster

If these were your usual Power Rankings, I would’ve left R4D off the board. I know what you’ll all say; they made the Championship last year without Ryan Aridi, but it wasn’t a pretty game. I feel like R4D are back with a chip on their shoulder and the first few weeks will dictate their season. If Applebaum can get going early this season, I have little doubt the Aridis and Boustany will have an amazing season and this team will run up the ranks.

  1. ZOO

After many seasons, I must say, this is the best ZOO roster I’ve ever seen. With Frank Kaye at the helm, St-Amand, Dutrisac and now Raymond, I do not see how this team could get any better. It has everything it needs to be successful, they just need to get back to what they do best and remember who they are. The only reason they’re 12th is due to Francois Raymond’s possible absences across the board weakening the team against tough matchups ahead, otherwise they’d crack the top 10 easily.

  1. Coyotes

Last year’s Coyotes were criticized for their lack of defense and having a very one-man offense. Although they posted 40 burgers all across the schedule and got Langburt going late last season, they need to keep growing. With a slightly better defense and spreading the ball around more, Feder could be leading this team to a great playoff run.

  1. D’s Nuts

Last season, D’s Nuts introduced us to Joel Malkin who saved his QB more than once. This year, he’s replaced by the quartet of brothers and their undeniable chemistry. This team can either light it up one week and post absolutely ridiculous numbers or slit each other’s throats before half time. With age, the Daoust have calmed down quite a bit and I believe they’ll be playing much better football this time around. They’ve bet on themselves once again, but the dices seem to be heading towards their number this time.

  1. Marco in the Middle

Last year, I kept mentioning how Marco in the Middle had the potential to win big, but kept downplaying their very own games. This time around, I expect Bishara, Martinez and co. to play up to their potential and show me just how wrong I was to list them this low.

  1. Tony’s Championship’s Orphans

For the first time, TCO decided to have a long-ass name. Thanks, Brent. I will not be using it, I have better things to do than list Tony’s Championship’s Orphans 10 times per article. Anyhow, this team is stacked, sorta. I really like the defense with guys like Callender, Rupcic, Millar, Lalla stepping up their games are improving as the seasons past. The only question mark remains under center, but Rupcic’s ability have improved and managed to grant them a trophy during Midnight Madness so I might want to stop doubting these guys. Might.

  1. Playground

Playground started last year’s winter season red hot and hit a brick wall to stumble the rest of the way. With Côté back under center, Playground’s offense should manage to find its way back to new heights. With David Centomo and Laurent Foucault in the lineup, expect Playground to play hard every single down.

  1. Still Teamless

Still Teamless, led by Jonathan Brown under center made the leap into Division 4A and are hunting another post-season appearance. Moving back to a more traditional roster based on chemistry rather than raw talent, Still Teamless are looking at a tough road ahead. Nonetheless, Deslauriers, Kolethras and Brown’s experience combined should be able to get them through thick and thin.

  1. Team Ethnik

Team Ethnik are back after shocking the world beating Crisp last season in the playoffs. With a slightly different roster, notably without the Bourbonnière-Morin brothers, Team Ethnik are looking to make another push at the title this Winter. With Garofalo back under center, Ethink should be more than capable at doing so.

  1. Eskimo Brothers

With Zach Stachowski’s added experience and Shawn Steen’s return from injury, Eskimo Brothers are back in contention for another Winter season. With many underrated athletes including Corey Oliver, Eskimo Brothers could be taking their first few opponents by surprise and should seize their opportunity early. With a tough post-Super Bowl schedule, expect these guys to go all out in their first 4 games.

  1. Cougars

Every season, Iadeluca posts an amazing stats line as a QB feeding his weapons left and right. With the return of his top 3 targets in Testa, Conforti and Gomes, expect their offense to get rolling as usual. If Erminio can protect the ball the same way he did last Winter, Cougars’ defense will only have to make one, maybe two stops per night to win games and it’s something very plausible.

  1. 5-Star

Dropping the idea of Prospects, 5-Star moved up a division by adding Lamar Joseph to their roster. A few less known players also tagged along including William Moquin to add depth and weapons for Moses’ offense. If he can keep using his feet the way he excelled at last season, 5-Star could have just learnt enough last season to propel them to another great season.

  1. Frosty Bronsons

After a tough end of a season for Nowakowski’s last season, his team’s back with added help in Danny D’Amour to compete in a higher division. With a very solid core of players, James should be able to distribute the ball adequately and have playmakers all across the board. The defense is up for the task, the only question is, can Nowakowski keep up with the opposing quarterbacks?

  1. No Name

No Name is back with a similar core, but added much-needed depth and talent all across the board to make this team a legitimate D4 team. With a, possibly, new QB under center in Beausoleil, No Name are looking to take many of their opponents by surprise by making a serious leap from DivE to D4 and compete. They have the roster, they have the potential, can they execute?

Division 4B

  1. Longhorns

After the last two seasons, no one is making fun of Longhorns anymore and people are starting to fear them once again. With the likes of Allen posting ridiculous numbers every week and Moodie getting his groove back, Longhorns found home in D4B after a few rocky seasons. They are the clear cut Conference A favorite and, although their schedule is essentially one of the toughest, should finish with a fantastic record.

  1. Friends with Benedicts

I hate talking about myself and my own team, but it’s tough to look away and not rank us high. With higher division talent all across the board and possibly underrated athletes, FwB is looking to make a playoff push and are considered (by many, not just me) as the Conference B favorite. Time will tell.

  1. Crimson Tide

Crimson Tide had a great Winter season last time around and, even though they will be without the services of the Alexis brothers, I still believe this team is made to win. Anything less than a playoff appearances will be a disappointment. They have enough talent, trust me. I had front row seat for Doug McKernan’s highlight-worthy catch of his career at the midnight madness tourney; this guy can ball.

  1. Suicide Squad

Led by, possibly, the best QB in 4B, Suicide Squad is bound to have a wrecking ball of an offense with Cardichon and Lubin at the very helm. If their defense can muster up a few stops and a 2nd receiver can step up, this team is bound to great heights. They aren’t ranked 4th for no reason.

  1. Les Affreux

After many unsuccessful seasons, Les Affreux’ franchise was renewed with Jonathan Lemieux under center last season. Injury proned, he couldn’t finish the season, but as Winter rolls in, so does Lemieux’ health. Combine him at the helm with the likes of Domon, Bellefeuille, Dubois, Jackson and others in Division 4B and you’ve got yourself a serious contender.

  1. Smash Bros

Moving up from Div E to Div 4 is a serious leap, even for the remarkable Smash Bros. Plagued in the final stretch of the season by the departure of their QB, Smash Bros were the frontrunner to win Div E and were dominating. Although I consider the leap to be enormous and the loss of Bastrash to leave a hole very tough to fill, I still expect Smash Bros’ offense to keep rolling and the W column to be higher than the L.

  1. Red Sharks

A strong outdoors team, Red Sharks “debuts” in FPF with many talented and experienced players all across the board. It’s tough to imagine a team with Begin, Elie-Voyer, Zwirn, Gaumont to not be successful in Div4. The only possible concern is their quarterback’s, Luis Begin, possible health. If he can play at 100%, this team is a serious contender. Otherwise, they might need to turn towards Gaumont and leave a vacancy in their roster.

  1. All Black

Led by veterans in Simon Gauthier, last season’s sensation Jesse Dupuis and newly found underrated talent Anthony Lapointe, All Blacks are built for success. The roster is deep and talented. I’m not looking forward to a matchup against this kind of defense with so many playmakers all across the board. With so many new faces, the question is, who will emerge as their biggest threat because there’s no doubt at least one will.

  1. Show me your TDs

Mike Addona might not be the most decorated QB in FPF, but he sure did surround himself with great players and friends; the key to success. The addition of Julien Bellavance to an already strong core will only propel SMYTDs to new heights and expect Addona to have his best season this time around.

  1. Hooligans

Chris Olson is back under center with a very similar core and a very talented addition in Stephan Osman. If Olson can find his long-lost groove back playing quarterback, Hooligans have a serious shot at making more than one upset. Their presence in my Top 10 shows how much of a threat this team can be in this given division. They just need to execute properly.

  1. Golden Flashes

Golden Flashes moved up after a good season in Division 5 last Winter and are looking to disrupt many’s plans. With the return of the core players, Doston should find his ways quickly back into last year’s success and lead a successful offense once again. With a tough Post-Super Bowl schedule, Golden Flashes has time to find its ways before the going gets tough; they just need to jump on the occasion and make the most of it.

  1. Sandlot Saints

Running one of the, if not the smallest roster in the division, Sandlot Saints only registered 6 guys to roll this Winter. With Tim Kraemer leading the way, you know this team knows what it’s doing every single down and will make you work for every yard. Last year’s debacle was regarding their lack of offense and having problems putting points. Luckily, time usually helps find ways to score and I believe this season might just have been enough time for them to figure it out.

  1. The U

Last Winter, The U introduced us to some very talented football players and took home the Division 5 Trophy after a wonderful playoff push. Pushing up to Div4, these guys are ready to do what it takes to win. With the return of Lattimore and Josh White, I believe Dustin White has all the weapons he’ll need to run a successful season. Expect these guys to juke you out of your cleats and run up and down on your team, twice.

  1. Local 89ers

Winter 2015 wasn’t the year for Local 89ers, but I believe they did learn a lot and their team grew as weeks passed by. This time around, expect these guys not to make the same mistake twice. A team led by Crompton and Larivière is bound to have success in Div 4B and I believe they’ll be able to get off to a strong start.

  1. Bromigos

Bromigos had a tough first season last Winter with a revolving door at quarterback. With a very strong surrounding cast led by JF Fortier-Poulin and his brothers, Bromigos only needed to find the right fit at pivot to start clicking once again. Knowing these guys, they won’t settle for another lost season and things will be figured out by week 1. Expect these guys to come out firing as soon as the first whistle blows.

  1. Balls Deep

A group of newcomers led by Raoul Baroudi made some noise in the Midnight Madness tournament and are set to start in Division 4B in a few days. It’s always tough to predict how a new team will do, but having seen a little bit of these guys a few weeks ago and they are ready. Don’t underestimate how deep their balls go.

  1. J’s

The J’s are back for another season moving up from lower divisions into Div4 with the same core and added experience. Hai Minh Luong has always been very careful with the football and his chemistry with the underrated talent Alexandre Chassé is only growing with every passing week. Adding Yavar Ashrafi might solve the lack this team needed to fill and they could’ve found their missing piece.

  1. Keyport Lock

After a rollercoaster year last year (Winter and Spring), Keyport Lock tweaked their roster and should be able to come in ready to play every week. Rosenblatt grew a lot as a quarterback in the past year and his added experience should shine through in Division 4B. With Jeremy Cola part of this team permanently this time around, Keyport Lock should start having success once again.

  1. Mean Machine

After a very successful season last Winter, Mean Machine moved up into Division 4 to try and shake things up. With certain new faces and hopefully a more stable roster, Mean Machine should be able to do what it does best and pile another successful season under their belt.

  1. A-Squad

A-Squad are back with a very similar roster of talented players, but with a brand new quarterback at the helm of their offense. A very emotional group will take the field every week and said emotions are the key for their success; they just need to learn to fuel it in the right direction. A-Squad concerns me offensively, but do not underestimate their defense and how talented it actually is.

  1. Mud Dogs

A nice mix of speed and size is what describes Mongeon-Duby’s surrounding cast the best as they line up under the name Mud Dogs this season. After a rocky debut season under center, Mongeon-Duby will look to use his gained experience the right way and make a push into Division 4. With talented players like Olivier Laberge, this team can excel in their respective division.

  1. Renegades

Labonté is back under center with a new group of guys and a few known faces. It’s tough to really grab a hold of what Renegades will look like in a few weeks as many of their players are newcomers, but I expect Kevin Gauthier and Jeffrey Lefebvre’s talent to shine through and help this team in any way they possibly can.

  1. War Pigs

War Pigs are ranked #23 because I do not know a single player from the roster. An entire new team is always welcomed in FlagPlus Football and I can’t wait to see what they are made of in their very own debut on Saturday night. I do really like the name though.

  1. Vnation

Vnation had a tough season last Winter in Division 5, but there was clear progress as the season went on and they’ve grown into a much better team that they once were. Moving up into Division 4, these guys will need to put their heads together and use their gained experience to rally behind Thisdale’s offense. Defense always held firmly, but their offense needs to score more points with every passing week.

Previews

Every week, I will go over a few previews of what’s to come and to be expected in Division 4. Matchups I think are worth your time, if you are to go over to the venues and watch something. Here’s week 1’s most interesting matchups:

Division 4A

  • Jagerbomb vs The Fellowship of the Ring: Preseason ranked #2 faces #3 in their season opener and we can expect this game to show us who these two teams really are. Coming off a championship season, Jagerbomb’s morale is really high. As long as no one underestimates their opponent, this is bound to be one of the great games of the week.
  • 69ers vs Backyard Bullies: Harbour gets to shake off the rust and show us he means business against Rich Humes’ displaying his new defense and how he’ll be using his new weapons this season. Not only will we learn a lot about these two teams and how strong they’ll be in this Top 10 matchup, but this might just be one of their biggest games on schedule as well.
  • Recipe 4 Disaster vs Team Ethnik: Both these teams made the playoffs and got past the first round last Winter, heck, one of these two actually made the Finale. Coming back with a purpose, R4D will be looking to notch a top seed this season and this all starts with Week 1. Two great teams battling it up in the very first minutes of the season. Can’t wait.

Division 4B

  • Show me your TDs vs Friends with Benedicts: Basically, Mike Addona preferred to have his own team rather than play with Friends with Benedicts. Plus, this is a show down of friends colliding so it’s bound to be great. Both teams matchup exceptionally well where Bellavance will fight off Maxime Côté (see previous segment) and Addona will try to keep pace with my offense. It’ll be one of the good ones.
  • Hooligans vs Keyport Lock: I mentioned previously how both of these teams have something to prove offensively and this is where it all starts; Week 1. They need to get going fast and show they can put up points on a weekly basis. A great matchup between Olson and Rosenblatt. You don’t want to miss it.
  • Sandlot Saints vs Bromigos: Both of these teams have great rosters on paper and great supporting cast, but the question mark remains about their respective pivot and can he perform. In a 10 week season, you need to make every game count and this is where these guys need to get started. Expect a gritty and hard fought battle.

Picks of the week

Possibly my oldest and one of my favorite segment; the Picks of the week. Most of you guys slightly skim through my articles right down to the last part to see if I pick for or against you this week and I get that. I’ll keep a tally of my success (let’s be honest, I don’t fail predictions. In 6 seasons, everyone who attempted at besting me at these, have lost. I’m the undefeated Champ. Ask around). Here we go.

This season’s challenger: Yannick Doston the French writer from Golden Flashes.

I know what you guys’ll think; Doston doesn’t stand a change, he doesn’t know anything about D4, it’s a free-win. Well, yes, but at the same time, it’s a 50/50 chance, so even without insight, you basically could still win out. Fear not, I won’t go easy on him.

That sums it for this week’s article. It’s always a pleasure to write and hear back from you guys. After all, the content is meant 99% for you. I keep a percent for me; ranting here and there is fun after all. You can always reach me via twitter @DagenaisFPF or via email ([email protected]). I’ll be at Lachine every Saturday night scorekeeping so you can stop by and chat. Don’t hesitate. Until next time…!
