National’s, Upsets and #1 Seed’s

Week 8

Whats up Div C, I’m back with another article, ready to catch up on all the missed action. I would like to apologize for the missing articles since my week 4 post as I was pretty preoccupied with the National Flag Football Championship last weekend which was held here in Montreal. I have to say it was an amazing experience and an absolute pleasure to compete with Canada’s best flag players all weekend long. A big Congratulations to all FPF teams that participate this weekend and certainly Braves Vert  for being crowned the National Champs. It was awesome to see the Final 4 in the men’s Pro division all be FPF’s very own division 1 teams, Raw Dawgs, Braves Gris, Braves Vert and MTL Magic. Its clearer then ever that Quebec has the best Flag Football players in the country and FPF is the most competitive league you can find. Division 1 and 5v5 competitive truly is home to some of the best Flag Football players in the whole world. While were on the topic I’d like to congratulate Team Canada on their very successful trip to Los Angeles a few weeks ago where they went undefeated and even beat team USA who haven’t had a loss in over 8 years.

Weekly Headlines

Down Goes LeBrontourage

LPC hands Lebrontourage their first loss of the season in grand fashion. A big 42-12 loss shakes up what I though was going to be a tight race for the number 1 seed and what could have been a instant classic and a future Championship matchup. While that is still very possible, LPC must be brimming with confidence as they put the beat down on a Lebrontourage team that wasn’t missing any key players on their roster that night either. Many would say this is an Upset as LPC has been behind LeBrontourage in many categories, including my power rankings. Zero offensive production from LeBrontourage as Gianni Casati was unable to connect with his receivers and struggle to keep the ball away from the LPC defence. 4 Interceptions and 0/2 on 4th down conversions. Perhaps LPC has found the blueprint to stopping this high powered offence.

Félix Déry-Bernard is running away with WROY

With 34 receptions 418 yards 17 touchdowns in only 6 games Félix Déry-Bernard of Speed Academy is the front runner for WROY. Leading all other WR’s in touchdowns and 4th in the division in receiving yards, he has clearly been the most productive Wr in division C so far. With 4 more games remaining, he can make these numbers even more ridiculous. Im not sure if he can find his name in the record books, but he will be very close if he continues this phenomenal run.

6 teams risk elimination

3 teams will be eliminated as the regular season comes to an end and as of now no team has been officially eliminated. But 6 teams who all have either 1 or 2 wins are all on the hot seat. The Commission, The Hustlers, All Blacks, Big Fat Bats, Mengoose and Traptors are all fighting for the chance to make the playoffs. Many of these teams that I just listed have at least 2 games versus eachtoher, so these next few weeks will really start to tighten up the division and be more meaningful every week. My prediction: The Commission, The Hustlers, and Big Fat Bats are the 3 teams who find themselves in the playoffs!

Top 8 Power rankings

  1. Les Petites Carottes 7-0

Coming off a huge win versus the previously undefeated LeBrontourage. A whopping 42-12 win puts the whole division on notice that LPC are the real favourites and #1 contenders of division C. Another stellar performance from LPC’s defence who have only allowed an average of 15 points against through 7 games. With 3 games left and the only undefeated team remaining only Speed Academy can ruin a 10-0 season.

2. LeBrontourage 6-1

While a huge defeat to a big contender in the division doesn’t feel good, I still think this is one of the best teams in the division. QB Gianni Casati has played really well all season as he only threw 2 interceptions prior to this 4 INT game. With a roster full of studs, I don’t see this team losing another game as they plan their revenge on LPC with a strong playoff run.

3. Speed Academy 5-1

A strong 5-0 start to the season was crushed a few weeks back as Speed Academy suffered their first loss to Beer Belly Brigade. After speaking with QB Emile Plante, its obvious that their offence lacks some speed but has been great despite losing one of the fastest players on their roster from last season, Jimmy Marneris. But it has been their defence and their ability to contain mobile Qb’s that has been their biggest struggle. This team does have a lot of experienced players so I do expect them to figure out a solution and still be one of the top 3 teams by seasons end.

4. Coldest 3-3

This team might be a little high on this list but I will admit, I’m a little biased. Jeanslee Alexis is one of my division 1 teammates and he is an absolute STUD. Nobody can catch this guy so just give him the rock. He hasn’t and probably won’t be present at all of Coldest’s regular season games but I do believe he will be playoff eligible. So don’t be surprised if Coldest has a very average record but is still one of the strongest teams in the division. They have a great combination of size and speed and if their defence can figure out how to play with more chemistry they will be a big dark horse team in the playoffs.

5.  Sugar Daddies 5-2

Sugar Daddies are proving week after week that they have what it takes to be crowned division C champions. QB Jared Buck has been slinging it as he ranks 3rd in passing yards and 5th in passing touchdowns in the entire division. Unfortunately they have lost to two of the divisions juggernaughts in LeBrontourage and LPC but both of those matches were competitive so If Sugar Daddies can end the season 8-2, I think they will be in really good shape and have a deep playoff run.

6. Jagerbomb 4-3

I won’t lie, I thought this team would have a better record at this point of the season. Simon Duchesne is having an awesome season as he leads QBs in almost every single category. 40 touchdowns already with 3 games remaining means he can easily surpass his season high of 45 tds which he set in the spring of 2024 with the same squad. With two tough games remaining on their schedule, this teams record may not look scary but trust me this is a highly productive offence that will march down the field on any defence in Div C.

7.MOFOS 3-3

I do see that Tiemoko Sanogo suited up for one game but unless he is present at the rest of their games, he will not be playoff eligible. So that begs the question, who will be MOFO’s quarterback come playoff time. 4 different guys have taken a swing at QB, but they will need to make there decision fast as the end of the regular season is quickly approaching. Taking these last few games to get in rhythm and accrue chemistry with their receivers will be crucial to whoever takes over the helm. This team has a lot of athleticism so my advice to them would be to try and get the ball in their playmakers hands as quick and as often as possible. Wether that be with designed runs or quick throws, that should be their game plan.

8. Beer Belly Brigade 3-3

I could not leave Beer Belly Brigade off the power rankings as they have been the only team so far to hand Speed Academy an L. Its super great to see Alexandre Fafard completely healthy again and using his speed and agility to extend drives and even score touchdowns. Beer Belly Brigade was lost without him in the fall of 2024 when he was out with injury and its great to see him leading his team once again. I think the only thing that Beer Belly Brigade is missing is some consistency in their roster. They only have about 6 players that have made more then 1 game so consistently looking for subs is not the best way to build a championship roster. Also at this rate they will only have 6 players eligible for playoffs so with 4 games left they should really look into bringing someone else in full time.
