Like it or Not (Div 3)

I have already apologized for the delay, but I’d like to say I’m sorry again. Nevertheless, we are now halfway through week ten with a lot to talk about. Lots of teams playing for their ticket to the playoffs, and a chance to be later crowned division three champions. I told all of you week one, this year was going to be legendary, and I believe it has been. Upsets, followed by blow outs, mixed with irrational drama (Gotta love FPF drama) have made this year flash by.

Let’s not forget this year was the first year with the players’ ratings. Lots of us were quick to judge the idea but I feel like we’ve now gotten use to it. Some of us have been working on ways to bend the system as much as we can within the limitations of the rules. More importantly this year welcomed a large amount of new players. I hope everyone has enjoyed their season so far as much as I have!

Quick Review:

  • I thought Lazy But Talented was done for the season! No, they showed up week nine and beat Moose. Moose currently fighting for playoff positioning, they must have been unpleasantly surprised. Will LBT serve up another win in week 10?

  • Carmine Police single handedly beat Les Monsieur Chat. 15 reception for 133 yards and 7 touchdowns. LMC are you serious? 1 TD.. 2 TD.. 3 TD (Hey guys should we cover that guy?) 4 TD .. 5TD .. ( GUYSSS !!?) 6TD.. 7 TD. OK cool! Carmine are you free this spring?

  • F.T.W unable to put any points on the board against B.D. Bandits. At the same time, B.D. Bandits strengthened their possibility at a high seed.

  • Huge win for Ocean’s Seven against Les Eudistes to keep their playoff hopes alive. I’m surprised to see Hermes Zepeda on the roster; it could have been a game changer with a couple more games played. Gentile threw for 273 yards and 7 touchdowns.

  • The Incredibles won a close one against The Commission. It was quite the nail bitter. The Commission definitely gave The Incredibles a run for their money.

  • Sandlot Saints needed to win their last two for a chance at the dance; and two wins is what they got.

  • Legends beat down KGP Champs on film. I’ll go ahead and assume a couple guys had some fun during the parade. It definitely didn’t look like they had their regular abilities. To Legends credit, they took it to KGP and never slowed down.

  • Teams I would not want to play round one: Clockwork, Les Buddays, Prestige World Wide, The Incredibles.

The rankings are as of Thursday March 21st. Let me explain:

Conference A

  1. The Incredibles*(8-2, 16 pts, 5-1, 269)

The Incredibles finished the regular season on a six game winning streak. While their 6-man roster has proven to be more than enough, will it continue to pull through in the playoffs? The Incredibles are guaranteed 2nd. If LMC loses this weekend, The Incredibles will move up to first.

  1. Les Monsieurs Chats* (8-1, 16 pts, 4-1, 262)

With a loss in week nine, Les Monsieurs Chats’ perfect season came to a dramatic end. Fortunately, they still sit in the drivers’ seat when it comes to the outcome of this season. Their last game is against the underrated Moose. If they win, they’ll lock the first place. If they lose, they could fall down to third due to an inferior divisional record than The Incredibles and a much worse PA than BD Bandits.

  1. BD Bandits* (8-2, 16 pts, 4-2, 173)

BD Bandits end the season with a very respectable win over #NoRegard. One thing is certain for the Bandits, they won’t be going down; they can move to second if LMC loses.

  1. #NoRegard* (6-4, 12 pts, 5-1, 210)

After 10 games played #NoRegard currently sit in 4th. Moose and AJ’s Fight Club have a chance to pass them with a win. If they both win, #NoRegard will drop to 6th. If either or wins, #NoRegard will drop to 5th. A tie for either team keeps them behind with an inferior divisional record.

  1. AJ’s Fight Club* (5-3-1, 11 pts, 4-1, 288)

With one game remaining, AJ’s Fight Club has a chance to finish in 4th with a win. If they lose, combined with a win from Moose, they’ll drop to 6th. If they lose and Moose does as well, they’ll preserve their 5th place.

  1. Moose* (5-3-1, 11 pts, 3-2, 310)

We now know Moose is locked in for the playoffs whether they win or lose. The teams who can potentially finish with 11 points would have inferior divisional records (Big TDs, Oceans Seven, The Commission). If they win this week against Les Monsieur Chats they will take over 4th place. If they lose, they’ll stay in 6th.

  1. Big TDs (5-4-1, 11pts, 2-3-1, 257)

I told them before their game, “If you win you’re in”. I lied and I’m really sorry! I did not know the criteria have not been updated. The last tiebreaker is points against. If both The Commission and Ocean’s Seven win, Big TDs needs The Commission to allow more than 29 points: The Commission and Big TDs tied in their matchup. They need either team to lose or have Usual Suspects score more then 29 points against The Commission to make it into the playoffs. If they both lose, they’ll stay in 7th.

  1. Les Eudistes (5-5, 10 pts, 2-4, 264)

Week 10 vs Big TDs was critical for Les Eudistes. If they would have won, they were guaranteed a ticket to the dance but unfortunately they came up short. They did not go down without a fight as the game came down to the last play. For now they’re hanging on by a thread. They need The Commission and Ocean’s Seven to lose. They also cannot afford a tie by Ocean’s Seven. Their divisional record at this point be their downfall.

  1. Ocean’s Seven (4-4-1, 9 pts, 2-3, 282)

The future of Ocean’s Seven is in their hands. Fun thing about being in 9th is you get to play a game with your season on the line. If they win, no matter what, they’ll finish 7th. They lose or tie; obviously you can pack your bags and go home.

  1. The Commission (4-4-1, 9 pts, 2-3-1, 228)

Very similar situation as Ocean’s Seven. If they win, they’re automatically in the playoffs. If they win and Ocean’s Seven loses, they’ll finish 7th. If they win and Ocean’s Seven wins as well, they’ll squeeze into 8th. Ultimately their fate is in their hands; now what are they going to do about it?

The Following teams are out:

  1. Arkham (3-6, 6 pts)
  2. Lazy But Talented (3-6, 6 pts)
  3. F.T.W. (2-8, 4 pts)
  4. Usual Suspects (1-8, 2 pts)

These teams might be out, but they have a chance to change the future of their opponents. Arham and Usual Suspects are both playing teams who need to win to make the playoffs. What’s better then a chance to play spoiler? Most will probably argue that being in the playoffs or playing for the possibility of making the playoffs is better, but when you have nothing else it’s better then nothing.

Conference B

  1. Clockwork* (8-2, 16 pts, 4-2, 227)

This is one of the hottest teams heading into the playoffs. Their regular season is done and all they can do now is sit and wait. They’re currently sitting in 1st place but I have a feeling they’re just keeping the seat warm for now. Les Buddays, PWW and VPC all have a game in hand and could pass Clockwork with a win. If they all win, Clockwork could end up in 4th. Otherwise, depending on the outcomes, they could end up anywhere in-between 1st and 4th.

  1. Les Buddays* (7-1-1, 15 pts, 4-1, 227)

Do not under estimate your opponent this week. The Bruizers might be down and out, but they are not to be neglected. If Les Buddays win their last game, they’ll take over first place. If they lose, PWW and VPC could pass them with a win. Depending on the outcomes, Les Buddays could finish anywhere between 1st and 4th. My 2 cents: bring the heat and smash your opponent. Get yourselves a favorable first round game!

  1. Prestige World Wide* (7-2, 14 pts, 5-0, 194, H2H over Clockwork)

Last game of the season is against KGP Champs. If they win and Les Buddays lose, they’ll finish 1st. If they and Les Buddays win, they’ll stay in third. If they lose and VPC wins, they’ll drop down to 4th. 1st to 3rd is up for grabs, 4th is worst-case scenario.

  1. VPC* (7-2, 14 pts, 5-0, 274)

Everyone behind VPC is either done or unable to catch up at this point. No matter what, 4th is as bad as it can get this season for VPC. But if they win and both PWW and Les Buddays lose, they’ll climb all the way to first with a better divisional record than Clockwork. If they win, Les Buddays win and PWW loses, they finish 2nd. If they all win, VPC will finish 3rd and it will knock Clockwork back in time 3 hours (down to 4th).

  1. Legends* (6-4, 12 pts, 3-3, 298)

Legends are done and waiting on the result of KGP Champs vs PWW. If KGP wins, Legends will drop to 6th, otherwise they’ll stay put.

  1. KGP Champs* (5-4, 10 pts, 3-2, 245)

KGP Champs is playing for the possibility of going up one position. Everyone behind is done at this point and no one is knocking at their door. If they win, they’ll go up to 5th. If they lose, they’ll stay in 6th.

  1. Hoof Hearted*(4-5-1, 9 pts, 3-3, 323)

The season ended on a very bad note. Taking a beating from Clockwork is not what you want before the playoffs. Good news is, if you forget about the loss, everything is going to be ok. 7th is theirs no matter what since they hold the head to head over Rudebwoys.

  1. Sandlot Saints (4-5-1, 9 pts, 2-3-1, 272)

This is another team who can only sit and wait. The Rudebwoys’ game will determine whether or not they get a chance at the playoffs. I’ve always said that you should not leave anything up to chance. Why give others a chance to eat your dinner? Now, you must wait and hope Rudebwoys loses to a team who has yet to win a game this year. If Rudebwoys beat Full House, Sandlot Saints will be out of the playoffs.

  1. Rudebwoys (3-5-1, 7 pts, 2-2-1, 289)

Very simple: If they win, they’re in 8th. If they tie or lose, they’re done.

The following teams are out:

  1. Certified Flyguyz (2-5-2, 6 pts)
  2. Mongoose (3-7, 6 pts)
  3. Bruizers (2-6-1, 5 pts)
  4. Golden Eagles (1-9, 2 pts)
  5. Full House (0-9, 0 pts)

Might be out of the playoff race but Full House could potentially get their first win of the season and play spoiler vs Rudebwoys.

Individual Awards:

Keep in mind these are my personal picks. Also, if you played six games in either Div 1 or 2, you are not award legible.

QB of the year: Nicola Centomo (Les Monsieur Chats)

Receiver of the year: Dave Chitayat (Full House)

Defensive player of the year: Marc-Andre Paradis (Les Eudistes)

Two-way player of the year: Jean-Sebastien Gradowski (Prestige World Wide)

Top 3 Freaks of Week 3:

QB- Gino Di Fazio (AKM)- 281 yards and 8 touchdowns.. I’m glad you got that out of your system! FREAK performance after and under achieving season!

WR- Carmen Police (ARK)- 133 yards on 15 receptions and 7 touchdowns. I could not believe this when I saw the stats. Above and beyond FREAKY.

DB- Justin Smolar (FUH)- 2 tackles, 3 interceptions and a pass defended. Well-done Smolar! Shinning some light on a dark season! 3 INT’s puts you on the Freak radar.

R- Chris Bridgeman (BDB)- 3 sacks. I love a good rusher, especially one that goes to work! Decent game Bridgeman; FREAK award well deserved.

My Picks for Week 10 (the remaining games):

Bruizers VS Les Buddays

AJ’s Fight Club VS Lazy But Talented

Full House VS Rudebwoys

Ocean’s Seven VS Arham

The Commission VS Usual Suspects

Prestige World Wide VS KGP Champs

Certified Flyguys VS VPC

Moose VS Les Monsieur Chats

75 and 36 SO FAR ON THE SEASON, WHICH PUTS ME AT 68%… ONE MORE WEEK TO MAKE IT TO 70 %

Games To Keep Close Eye On:

The Commision vs Usual Suspects: should be easy pickings for Sean Avram. A must win game might make these guys step it up to another level. Do not look past Usual Suspect too quickly; they have what it takes to match up well in this one.

Ocean’s Seven vs Arhkam: Arhkam is fresh off their win against Les Monsieur Chats. Ocean’s Seven wins and their in. If you don’t know yet, Carmine Police is the heart of this team, please make sure you cover him.

Rudebwoys vs Full House: I’m calling an upset here. I think Full House is the biggest underachiever this season. They have a roster able to trade punches with more than half the teams in Division 3. They are currently sitting in last place with a record of 0-9. Rudebwoys are sitting in 9th. They need to win to make playoffs.

Finals Match-ups :

  1. Justin vs 2. GM

Unfortunately, our run has come to an end. I’d like to thank everyone who played their hearts out from my squad. Tough, but we have to give credit to GM’s team.

Sacko Bowl (Total after first week)

Peeze Della Reeze : 181.17 points

Brent Callender : 122.37 points.

So instead of doing one game for the Sacko, we’ll be adding their playoff totals. This way we’ll find out who’s the worst at pronouncing talent.

That’s it for this week. Everyone bring you’re A-game this weekend since it’s going to be an epic battle for the playoffs! Once again good luck to everyone! Don’t forget to check out the podcast by G.M Kolethras and Daniele The Scoop Gentile! Next week, it will be Scoop and myself giving you a playoff preview. You can stream it live as they record if you want to see their pretty faces! Follow me @VinceNardone for very little action on twitter or stop me at the field to chat. Thank you for reading, till next time… Get in the gym.
