Like it or Not (Div 3)

Finally, the bye week has come to an end. Now we can all proceed towards catching a cold in our beloved but glacial domes. The long await Superbowl has come and gone with pure deception. The outcome of that game made the flag drought feel longer than anticipated. Some strengthened their unlikely but possible belief that the NFL is fixed, while others made or lost a few dollars. At the end of the day, who cares! Flag is back! I’m excited to continue the season. The week following the bye is historically known to be a flat week.  For those who cannot afford another lose, I hope you used the off week to find your mojo. We are almost at the midpoint of the season and some teams have fallen far behind. Meanwhile a large pack of strong teams make every effort to pull away. Nothing is written in stone quite yet, so I suggest to go hard or go home.

Fortunately for the FPF staff, the bye week is when we draft our fantasy teams. It helps us fool our subconscious that we have to wait up to ten days until we step onto the turf again. I realize all of you are very excited to find out where you were drafted, so lets jump right to it.

If you are not one of the players listed above, use it as motivation to dominate this season. Prove us all wrong, and give us a reason to mention you on next year’s board! I’d also like to mention how long this process was. Lots of trash was talked which makes for a serious Fantasy season. For all of you on my team, go on and make me proud!!!!!

Headlines:

  • Hoof Hearted takes their first defeat via The Commission. Sean Avraam was finally able to make the decisions needed to keep his team in the game. This one came down to the wire. Unfortunately, Edward Shoshan seemed to have a disconnect from his receivers. I’m not worried about who farted. They have all the elements needed to push through the rest of the season with limited damage. As for The Commission, they just gave us a small taste of their true abilities. Can they continue on this positive note and use this win to tie together a successful streak of games? Once again, time will tell.

  • Beat down in the winless dungeon for Full House. The cats were in town and rocked the house. Les Monsieur Chats put the hammer on Justin Smolar and the boys, taking the win 52-25. Nicolas Centomo made his fantasy owner proud putting the ball in the end zone seven times. Dave Chitayat had a field day in a losing effort, perhaps looking to get on my freak list? I wish I had a magic potion like the pre game drink the Toon’s drank before Space Jam, but I don’t. Good news for Full House, there’s still hope. The remainder of the schedule is filled with opportunities to turn the ship around. Les Monsieur Chat is the only team I picked to go undefeated. Can any one prove me wrong?

  • Golden Eagles continue the drought; unable to plug the leak the whole is getting bigger and bigger. Again, like I said for Full House, the Golden boys have a preferable schedule coming up. Time to go back to the basics. They’ve had plenty of success in the past. They need to figure out what has worked for them. No need to get fancy, all that matters here on out are the W’s. The offensive numbers are decent, the Eagles need to be more aggressive on defense. They cannot rely sole on Kevin Lubin to make plays on offence to win games. This roster is just too deep to not eventually find success.

  • AJ’s Fight Club is heating up. After starting the season 0-1, they’ve now won three straight games.  Whether its James Floreani or Craig O’Brien at the QB position, it doesn’t seem to bother the chemistry. Vinny Gualano showed off why I picked him as my flex, catching 2 touchdowns and having a good-looking defensive outing. As long as Floreani continues to throw touchdowns and not making music videos, these boys have what it takes to shake up Conference A. Will they be able to figure out who farted next week? I don’t personally think this is a good match up for them.
  • I despise ties more then those extremely chirpy, arrogant, and cocky players that have no game to back up anything. But I have no doubt that Danielle Gentile feels equally or worse about them, especially this week. Ocean’s Seven and Les Buddays fall victim to a tie this week. This was a game flooded with offensive outbursts. Gentile showed off why he was picked number one in the draft. The stats alone speak for themselves and I don’t know where to start. Gentile had a near perfect outing and connected seven times with receivers in the end zone. My boy Nareg Yessayan was on the receiving end of three of those seven touchdowns and he racked up 121 yards on 6 Rec. My Buddays showed up to brawl as well. QB Leandre Ethier threw 5 touchdowns, and connected twice or more with five different receivers.  Vincent Barriere seemed to be everyone on the offensive side of the ball for Les Buddays. He caught two balls for two touchdowns, 1/1 passing for 40 yards and a TD, along with a rushing attempt. Shout out goes to both teams for not missing a beat after a week off!

  • Very impressive outing For B.D Bandits against Prestige World Wide. It did not look like the absence of recently injured Casey Cook affected the Bandits. Alex Lever looked to have no answer for the Bandits’ defense. Steve Sanner and the boys were determined to come out on top and it showed on the scoreboard in the end. Hopefully for Lever this flat tire will be fixed quickly, for the schedule is about to get bumpy. B.D Bandits are now one of three teams to remain undefeated so far.

  • I’d like to take some credit for #NoRegard’s first loss on the season. Beating Marco Masciotra just before his division 3 game was most definitely the spark which lit the fire. I picked the 1-2 Clockwork to beat the 3-0 #NoRegard. Although it wasn’t Masciotra’s best offensive outing, he made up for any mishaps with his defensive play. Clockwork put on a defensive clinic holding a cutthroat offense in #NoRegard to 6 points. Rich Hume’s level of competitiveness is quite an addition for the Clockwork’s offence, who were already an above average force. These guys appear to have found their stride early in the season. Will they be able to put together a couple wins?

Top 3 Freaks of Week 3:

QB-Daniele Gentile (OC7)- 20/25 297 yards and 7TDs… Back to back FREAK weeks! My bro is putting on a clinic.

WR- Nareg Yessayan (OC7)- 6 REC for 121 yards and 4 TDs. FREAK to FREAK action for Ocean’s Seven! I’ve always respected my fellow freak Yessayan. Welcome to the dream team.

DB-Tim Kraemer (SNS)- 2 INTs, 2 TKLs and a touchdown gives Mr. Kraemer an invitation to the freak show!

R-Gabe D’Amico-Mazza (KGP)- 3 SK… First three of the season will hopefully be the beginning to some stable freakish rushing!

My Game of the week:

B.D Bandits vs VPC will be a battle for king of the hill. The clash of the undefeated looks like a match up dominated by VPC. The only way Steve Sanner and his boys can keep up with the grittiness in VPC is if they step up their physicality. While playing within the rules of FPF, they are going to need to beat VPC at their own game. Robby Robinson always dictates the pace of the game. He makes you adjust to his game plan.  Sanner needs to not over think this one: soften the blows, bend but don’t brake, don’t get greedy and don’t fall behind on the scoreboard. You won’t get too many chances against Lalla and the sharks so don’t get excited when you see an opening because they are baiting you.

I doubt the Bandits’ offensive ability to put points up without Casey Cook in the line up. I’m also not a fan of a QB that can’t settle in the pocket, it makes every play look like a fluke. I’ll never pick against a hall of fame QB, so for those reasons I pick VPC to win 38-32.
