Letter grades are in! Coed 3 Report Card!

Hello friends, and welcome to another week of FPF action! We had a Super Bowl bye week and jumped right back into it last week. Seeing as most teams have now hit the 5 Games Played range I feel more confident giving a Report card that actually reflects the Mid-Season. That being said, it turns out Report Cards are lengthy A.F. and definitely took me longer than expected! Sorry about that! (Should be pretty obvious from my copied intro…. I know…. How unimaginative)

No need for a long introduction, but before we get going, let me break down my super complex arbitrary and terrible rating system. I like superheroes. And I really don’t like letter grades…. especially F’s, but alas, if I have to give them out, I might as well try to make it fun! So here it is:

There are 3 Tiers that I’ll be using to rank your team: Cosmic Threat > Planet Buster > Street Tier. The Tier is a combination of how many playmakers you have, stats as a team, length of time you’ve been playing as a team, and what level of team I expected you to be. I also assign marvel characters to each team to show how I envision them.

Your letter grade is given per Tier. You can be a Cosmic Threat with an A rank, and you can also be a Street Tier and be an A rank. The letter grade establishes how I think your team is actually doing compared to expectations, the caliber of teams you’ve played against, and your record so far.

Last but not least, I name 2 key players per team that I believe other teams should watch out for and to highlight their efforts. QB’s are not named because QB’s get enough attention in the league and OBVIOUSLY you have to look out for the QB…

S – Seriously Scary

A – Amazingly Awesome

B – Bold and Beautiful

C – Crazy Competitive

D – Dangerously Distracting

F – Furiously Fighting for Fame

MID SEASON REPORT CARD COED 3:

LA SECTE

What is there to say about the team that has remained at the top of the division for its entire 7 weeks so far? I had assumed that their loss to SNEAKY SNAKES might shake them off their game and also their #1 spot, but despite the recent loss to HALF N HALF, LA SECTE has been able to remain the kings and queens of the division. With Raphael Beauchamp-Desbois at the forefront of this team, they have hit their most difficult pocket of games. Having only scored 6 points against both aforementioned teams, LA SECTE will have to face them both immediately again in the next coming 2 weeks. 2 more losses will surely knock them out of first place, so they will need to adapt very quickly to score more!.

Thanks to Alyson Francillon and his amazing near perfect season (28 attempts / 26 completions), LA SECTE has been able to stay in the competition. Their other receivers are obviously making plays for LA SECTE: Zachary Robledo has 4 TD’s and Justin Leblanc-Guidon has 3 TD’s, however, it looks as though most other receivers only have a catch rate of about 50%. LA SECTE will have to find a way to make it’s other receivers viable threats and targets, because if teams like HALF N HALF are able to stop Alyson from scoring, then they struggle.

We will see what happens when LA SECTE plays SNEAKY SNAKES with Raphael at QB! It’s the redemption and status proving game I’ve been looking forward to.

2 Key Players: Alyson Francillon / Estelle Quevillon-Lemay

COSMIC THREAT – Dormammu

PASCARES

The last time I looked at PASCARES they had played 6 games and were in 2nd place, now they’ve played 7 games and are in 5th place! How the Turn Tables! What’s good about PASCARES’ position is that with the most games played, a lot of teams are going to rack up some losses and positions will change once more. The unfortunate news is that they also only have 3 games to push things in their favor. With a max 6 wins on the season, PASCARES will need to win 2 of 3 games if they want to ensure a high divisional position. Nicolas Menard seems to be the main QB of this team, but they have also had Vanessa Pierre, Sean Mudrosky, and Kadeem Campbell try their hand at the QB spot.

For their first season in the league, PASCARES has made a splash in the Co-Ed 3 division. I think if they focus on their QB play (maybe 1-2 QBs), Spread the ball to their female receivers more they will be able to settle into the 3rd or 4th position and be a real contender come playoff time. With an impressive 15 INT’s combined, 5 Defensive TD’s combined and 19 PD’s combined, this has to be one of the most impressive defenses in the division, and the reason they have been able to stay competitive in most games. Justin Anania, Khamhal Nerverson, Noah Hafid…. I would actually be naming 70% of the team if I wanted to list the defensive playmakers and they will need to continue being just that, playmakers, to give their QB’s enough time to get into sync. With only 10 combined offensive TD’s in 6 games, I’m not sure how viable this will be when the competition kicks it up a notch.

2 Key Players: Khamhal Nerverson / Vanessa Pierre

PLANET BUSTERS – Hyperion

SNEAKY SNAKES

Oh boy! This team hits me funny. I haven’t played them yet, but when I look at game stats, I don’t see a team that can beat HALF N HALF or LA SECTE or PASCARES, the teams I expect to be in the top 3. However, SNEAKY SNAKES have done just that: beating HNH in week 1, beating LA SECTE in week 4, and beating PASCARES in week 7….. Yet somehow, those are their only wins. I think this team has the capability to win the championship, and with a schedule that holds another game against HALF N HALF and LA SECTE, while throwing FNF3 into the mix, they have a chance to prove it!

Christopher Landry is QB #1 for this team and has found his favorite target: Alexandra Van Den Bossche. Defensively, this team is right behind PASCARES, and has been impressive in keeping LA SECTE and PASCARES to 6 points, and keeping HNH to 13 points. However, I can’t help but notice the win to HNH was in week 1, and they haven’t lost since. The loss to LA SECTE was without their QB and the same goes for the win over PASCARES. With a hard 2nd half schedule, SNEAKY SNAKES will need to continue to keep the pedal to the metal if they want a chance at the #1 spot! The ball is being spread well and everyone is being targeted, but receivers will need to find ways to make the most out of each pass and make people miss some tackles, while Christopher will need to pump up those TD’s!

All in all, I think this team is the dark horse of the division and could bump any team out of the playoffs. Teams should absolutely not underestimate them!

HALF N HALF

The team that has played the least amount of games in the division, HALF N HALF, has been destroying the competition ever since they lost in week 1. Never scoring less than 30 points in 3 games will definitely get you the wins, especially when you pair that with keeping teams to less than 14 points a game. HALF N HALF have a chance to go undefeated against the rest of their schedule, but may have tough times against teams that have been able to play more games and sync up better. Their QB, Kristopher Verreault, has put up impressive stats in the 2 games he has played, but the team has also relied on Camille St-Marie as backup QB, to get some wins! Regardless of who is throwing, it seems that Gabrielle Wiseman is still the preferred target; having 21 catches on 24 targets and 5 TD’s. Although, special shout out to Malakai Roach who is the only receiver on the team to have a 100% catch rate (10 for 10 and a TD)

I’m surprised other receivers are not being targeted more, since Tahnyus Steer is a nightmare for any defense. Gabriel Wiseman is also running away with the division in the sack dept. With 11 sacks in 4 games. Holy Moly. Their defense is nothing to scoff at either and I wouldn’t be surprised if it was the dominant defense by the time they get 2 more games under their belt. All in all, HALF N HALF is fast rising and will need the combined might of LA SECTE, FNF3, and SNEAKY SNAKES to slow them down!

2 Key Players: Gabriel Wiseman / Aryane Boucher

FAST NOT FURIOUS 3

Despite their record of 2-3, Ryan Dobbs-Garnett has widened the gap between him and the rest of the up and coming QBs. With the most TD’s and the most yards, They started off their season losing to PASCARES and LA SECTE while both teams were at the top of their game.  Then went 1-1 against KANIKULE. With the recent upset against MICHAEL SCOTT’s TOTS and the upcoming game against HALF N HALF, they may not see a win until they play BLOCK PARTY next week. They have a good chance to grab 3ish more wins and they should still be able to easily finish the season in the positive, but will need to kick it up a notch to set them apart from the lower division! Alexandre Noel and Alex Laroche are the top receivers for the team with 5 TD’s and 2 TD’s, but the others are not too far behind, showing that Ryan Dobbs-Garnett has been decently successful at spreading the ball around the offense.

I’d like to see FNF3 closer to the top of the division since I originally thought they would be where SNEAKY SNAKES currently find themselves. They have the team to do it! With Tony Lalla, Diana-Janes Landry, Tyler Mcpherson, and Lory-Ann Bouchard, this team should currently be 4-1. Let’s see how they bounce back in the 2nd half of the season!

KANIKULE

I’m not sure if I’m sleeping on this team or if they have just hit a lucky streak! I played them in my week 2, and I was immediately struck at how I just couldn’t sack Athena Ryan! She has the ability to get the ball out very quickly and despite the fact that I got 2 PD’s, Athena was still able to bank 3 TD’s. KANIKULE took the loss against MICHAEL SCOTT’s TOTS and were able to beat out a SNEAKY SNAKE team sans Christopher Landry. Being able to upset FNF3 was a surprise to me, especially after losing by 10 the first time. However, only a slight win over BLOCKED PARTY worries me. The game was a defensive slugfest that only showed a 6-0 game at halftime. If i’m reading the report correctly, KANIKULE also won on the last play of the game…. So BLOCKED PARTY almost had their first upset and win last week.

A rematch against BLOCKED PARTY this week should be an interesting match that see’s KANIKULE win again, but with the rest of the schedule being extremely tough, it would not surprise me if they went winless in this second stretch. Finishing the season with 3 or 4 wins might still be elimination material, so KANIKULE will have to pull something out of their sleeve if they want an easier time in the playoffs. Overall, A couple upsets have definitely drawn my attention to them, and with Evan Gubert leading the team in TDs and currently fighting for top Receiver of the year, it’s clear they have talent on the team. With a loss against the TOTs, KANIKULE need to ensure they get as many wins as possible to ensure it doesn’t come down to a tie breaker.

STREET TIER – Spider-Man

BLOCKED PARTY

BLOCKED PARTY have had it rough this season. Starting slow against some good teams and having to play PASCARES back to back didn’t do them any favors. However, the past few games BLOCKED PARTY has found a way to score 3 TDs instead of their usual 0-1. Getting a tie over an up and coming SNEAKY SNAKES and only losing against a hot KANIKULE by 1 point, has BLOCKED PARTY finally found their rhythm? With a rematch against KANIKULE coming up this week, BLOCKED PARTY has another chance to get their first win against a compatible team. It will take a lot from QB, Mike Legendre (Wicked name), if they are going to stay competitive in this game, and a TD to INT ratio of 1:4 is just not gonna cut it.

With at least 5 different receivers having at least 1 TD is a good start at spreading the ball on offense! But with only 2 receivers having only 10+ passes, they will need to get comfortable throwing to people who are not Reka Sivasubramaniyam. They have had a mixture of success on the defensive side of the ball: Not able to beat any team yet, they have been successful in stopping most teams from putting up 30 points. With Carlo Costa getting some well deserved sacks and a crew of PDs from the defense, they have kept their opponents to 3-4 TD’s, which is a manageable score.

It won’t matter how many points they keep other teams to, however, without a QB that can put up points, they will find themselves at the bottom of the division at the end of the season. Hope is not lost though! They should come back next season with a few practice games in between and with just the experience of this year, i’m sure they will be able to accumulate at least 2-3 wins.

2 Key Players: Reka Sivasubramaniyam / Yvan Salomon

MICHAEL SCOTT’S TOTS

My unbiased and totally neutral review of this team is that they are the best! Definitely being sold short not being 5-0…. Ok, jokes aside, I’m happy with where the TOTs stand. Having combined 2 different teams in the off season and using inexperienced QBs, the TOTs almost beat PASCARES on the last play of the game in week 1. Were successful at beating KANIKULE and then with me (Zackary Alberts-Gill) at QB, were able to beat FNF3 in last week’s upset! With a lot of rematch games in their second half of the season (FNF3, HNH, PASCARES), Kenny Boutilier will need to amp up the game once again to give his team favorable playoff matchups. He currently isn’t doing too bad – 10 TD’s in 4 games played is still a little low, but if he can push that up to an average of 3 TD’s a game, the pressure will be on the defense to make some big stops – which they currently struggle to do.

Giving up 32 points against LA SECTE and 45 against HNH is definitely a no-no if we are intending to win games. With FPF regular Phuc Pham leading this defense and teaching some of our new and rusty players the ropes, MICHAEL SCOTT’s TOTS will need to start forcing many more turnovers if Kenny is to get extra shots at TD’s. Currently, the offense is struggling to hit their female receivers (definitely missed a bunch of passes in my games), but despite that, Maya Di Fazio has been able to be a game changer and key for a lot of first downs.

This team should be able to grab a few more wins before playoffs and not settle into the bottom 2 spots, however, with a lot of teams having already played them, they may be at a slight disadvantage in the 2nd half of the season!

2 Key Players: Phuc Pham / Anna Finkelstein

And that’s it! Sorry for the delay, but I was able to get this one out just before we started games! Have a nice read before you play tonight and stay healthy! I’m beat and still have to finish up Co-Ed 1. Enjoy Week 8!
