Leading by Example: Audrey Lajoie Interview + Week 3 Breakdown – Wom A
This week’s Women’s A coverage opens with a special feature — an interview with Audrey Lajoie, the division’s current interceptions leader and one of the most impactful players in the division. Following that, we dive into a full Week 3 recap. With Subzero and Cayenne remaining undefeated and others like IceCold and BLEU POUD heating up, the playoff race is beginning to take shape. Here’s how all seven teams stack up after another action-packed week.
Since debuting in FPF in Spring 2023, Audrey Lajoie has established herself as one of the league’s premier defensive players. Now leading Women’s A in interceptions and fresh off a Finals MVP performance after winning the Coed 3 championship, she anchors the BLEU POUD defense with elite football IQ. With over 100 games under her belt, Audrey’s impact goes well beyond the stat sheet.
We caught up with Audrey this week to talk about her journey, her mindset, and what drives her to keep raising the bar.

What originally brought you to flag football, and what keeps you coming back season after season?
“It was the teachers at my elementary school — who were already my soccer coaches — who suggested I try mini flag. So I started playing flag at age 10 and really discovered a passion for it. I already loved team sports in general, so I found that same environment in flag. I’ve also always felt that flag is a more advanced and developed sport that requires a certain level of understanding from the athletes, so I enjoyed the intellectual stimulation that came with it!”
With over 100 games played in FPF, what kind of leadership role do you take on in the huddle and on the sideline?
“I’d say my role varies depending on the team! In Coed, I play a bit everywhere on the field, so I like taking advice from other teammates. In Women’s, I feel more comfortable, and since we often don’t have a coach, I’m usually the one calling the defensive plays. In any case, I’m a player who brings what I observe back to the huddle to share with my teammates, and on the sidelines, I always do my best to encourage everyone as much as possible!”
What’s the biggest piece of advice you would give to younger players just starting in the league?
“I would tell them to say yes to every opportunity — to join multiple teams and accept subbing in for others — because that allows you to play often and meet different people in the flag community! I’d also tell them to accept playing positions they’re less familiar with, because it’s the perfect opportunity to improve and learn!”

You’re currently leading Women’s A in interceptions — what’s your mindset when reading quarterbacks and making plays in coverage?
“I’d say I have two mindsets. First, I try to get the quarterback to throw where I want her to — based on my positioning, planned movements, etc. The goal is to avoid just reacting and instead make the passing option less obvious for the opposing QB. Even making her hesitate for a second is a win for the defense! Second, I’d say I’m an instinctive player — it’s when you’re not playing too mechanically and you’re confident that you’re able to make the best plays. You have to try things and adjust!”
You’ve been a playmaker in both Women’s and Coed divisions — how do you adjust your game when switching between 5v5 and 6v6?
“I’d say my game is fairly similar in both divisions, but when I play 5v5, I’m more aware of the speed of the game and follow the plays closely to be ready to step in quickly. In 6v6, you need to take advantage of the extra space on the field and expect more running plays.”
What part of your game are you most proud of right now, and what are you still working to improve?
“Defensively, my greatest strength is my understanding of the game, and I’d like to work on being more aggressive. I also love playing offense, so I want to keep improving as a receiver.”
How would you describe the identity of this BLEU POUD roster — what makes this group different?
“I’d say the women on BLEU POUD are all underdogs. Every girl on this team adds value in her own way, and they’re all hard workers. I’m really excited to see where this project takes us!”
What’s one moment in your FPF career that stands out as especially meaningful or unforgettable?
“I have no choice but to say our Coed 3 championship win during the Winter 2025 season. That moment was especially meaningful because we built a team with my university friends just to have fun — and it ended up growing into something great. Some of the players had never played flag before, so it was a point of pride to introduce them to the sport. Also, I had played in two other FPF finals that ended in heartbreaking losses, so finally winning a championship surrounded by my friends made it truly unforgettable.”
Who’s the most impressive offensive player you’ve had to defend — and why?
“There are two players who come to mind. First, Mathilde Sybille, a former UQAM player. Her name comes up because when I started playing for UQAM, I used to line up at cornerback in front of her during practices, and I learned a lot. Honestly, I used to hope the coach wouldn’t ask us to play man coverage against her. I also watched her play for two years, and she’s a receiver with incredibly sure hands — she never drops the ball. Second, I’d say Laura Molimard. She’s a player who wins every matchup and always makes the necessary catches — sometimes even with just one hand!”

If your teammates had to describe you in one word, what do you think they’d say — and why?
“Looking at the way I play, the first word my teammates would probably say is ‘split.’ Since forever, whenever I make a jumping interception, I kind of do the splits. I’d say it’s my signature move, and my friends like to call me ‘Jordan’ because of it!”
Subzero (3–0)
PF: 95 | PA: 39 | +56
The defending champs still look the part. In Week 3, Subzero added two more wins — a 35–7 rout of Les Crocs and a 32–19 victory over Matrix. Sara Parker continued to be great, throwing for 10 touchdowns across those games. She now has 14 TDs, 4 INTs, and an incredible 77.1% completion rate.
Weapons like Mathilde Sybille (234 yards, 5 TDs) and Caroline Moquin-Joubert (162 yards, 4 TDs) are giving opposing teams big problems. On defense, Sabrina Gervais, Tamara Journeau, and Rachelle Vallieres have all contributed takeaways — but it’s the unit’s overall discipline that makes Subzero so hard to beat.
Cayenne (3–0)
PF: 93 | PA: 42 | +51
Cayenne continued their perfect start with a dominant 47–18 win over Monarchs. Quarterback Sandrine Gobeil-Huot put on a clinic, completing 15 of 18 passes for 242 yards, 5 touchdowns, and no turnovers. She now leads the division in passer rating (149.1) and completion percentage (90.9%).
Emma Racine was unstoppable in Week 3, torching Monarchs for 163 yards and 3 scores. On defense, Alexane Fournier has emerged as a star — with 3 interceptions, 2 defensive touchdowns, and 9 tackles in a single game. If Cayenne continues at this level, a collision course with Subzero is inevitable.
IceCold (2–2)
PF: 100 | PA: 98 | +2
IceCold split their Week 3 schedule, defeating BLEU POUD 33–25 but falling to 2–2 overall. Athena Ryan remains one of the division’s most productive QBs with a division-leading 885 passing yards and 16 TDs. However, her 8 interceptions are the most in the division.
Ashley Longin (277 yards, 6 TDs) continues to be a WR of the Year contender, and her 151-yard, 3-TD performance vs. BLEU POUD was critical. On defense, Laeticia Ngaleu and Elodie Lachapelle have been difference-makers, and Sara-eve Asselin leads the entire division with 25 tackles.
BLEU POUD (1–2)
PF: 81 | PA: 64 | +17
After a tough loss to IceCold, BLEU POUD exploded for a 50–6 win over Les Crocs in one of the most lopsided games of the season. Emmanuelle Bronsard threw for 302 yards and 7 touchdowns, giving her 12 TDs to just 1 INT on the year.
Marina Scalzo-Chrétien and Julia Paradis Roberge are developing into one of the best WR duos in the division. Defensively, Audrey Lajoie continues to be dominant — with 5 INTs in just 3 games — and she added 2 more against Les Crocs. She is the clear frontrunner for Defensive Player of the Year.

Matrix (1–2)
PF: 75 | PA: 57 | +18
Matrix is still figuring out its identity. They competed well against Subzero in a 32–19 loss, led by Gabrielle Deschamps’ 183 yards and 3 TDs in her debut at QB.
Daphneée Guérin, Élodie Carrière, and Marianne Quirion have been steady targets, while the defense is producing key stops — including INTs from Florence Beaulieu Clément and Lea Demers.
Monarchs (1–2)
PF: 67 | PA: 105 | -38
It’s been an up-and-down season for Monarchs. After falling 47–18 to Cayenne, their defense has now allowed the second most points in the division. Andréanne Cadorette is still putting up solid numbers (743 yards, 11 TDs), but turnovers (6 INTs) continue to be an issue.
Abygael Beauregard leads the team with 5 receiving touchdowns, and Morgane Le Foll remains a reliable weapon. On defense, the team needs to generate more turnovers and reduce big plays if they want to keep pace with the top half of the standings.
Les Crocs (0–3)
PF: 13 | PA: 119 | -106
Les Crocs are in a tough spot. They’ve now lost three straight by wide margins and have yet to show offensive rhythm. The quarterback position has been unstable, with a combined 6 INTs and sub-50% completion through Week 3.
Emma Townsend-Asselin and Stephanie Garey have been the lone bright spots on offense, while Vanessa Pierre and Garey have made contributions on defense. There’s time to grow, but they’ll need a spark quickly to avoid a winless season.
