Inside the Redzone (Div C) – Week 6

Vinny Gualano plays for Trojans and he is a good player. There I said it! Happy now Vinny? On a more positive note, I would like to congratulate the Titans on their first victory of the season and I am sure all the players probably weren’t that excited because they knew it shouldn’t have taken this long for them to win one game. Will there be many more to come? Their three out of four remaining games are winnable so they have the opportunity to finish 4-6 or 5-5 if they can go undefeated from this point forward. Rick Cummins still needs to play better at the QB position and he should be completing half of his attempted passes. At 4-6, they will have a good chance at making the playoffs? It should be noted that the two teams, Jets and Darkhorses, with whom they are competing with, have tougher schedules. It all starts this Sunday when Titans and Darkhorses face each other. It will be a playoff like atmosphere.

Around The League

KGP Champs are now looking like they are ready to make a run to the finals. They manhandled the Cobras and it was an entire team effort. It is good to see these guys doing well, given the fact they are FPF veterans and haven’t won the big one but they are ready to change all of that. What does this mean for the Cobras? Absolutely nothing! As discussed on WEPL, they’re a good team and I am sure if they faced KGP Champs again, it would be a bit more intense. I heard one of the KGP players call them “garbage” so the streak does continue. JUST A NOTE to all these teams who feel they can put the Cobras down, Cobras are playing without their QB Alex Lever so I am sure if Phil Cutler or Sean Avraam or Tony Tabet/Richard Shefteshy weren’t QBs for their teams, I am sure they would understand it is not easy for someone else to step up. Having said that, I still think Frank Grenier has done an excellent job because a 3-1-2 record is solid.

Vicious Canucks win yet again and now have the upper hand in the playoff scenario against the team they just beat, Kludgies. But for how long? Their remaining four games are against strong teams (even the 2-4 Briscoe High Hawks) but most probably if they lose out from this point on, they can still make it because of the possible tie breaker against Kludgies (who will probably go 1-3). Yet I don’t recommend that Vicious Canucks go to the playoffs on a 0-4 run so I hope they can put together a win or two in the upcoming weeks.

BOOM! Goes The Dynamite are starting to come back to their old form as they are tied with Those Guys but are second in the division because of divisional record. It’s good to see a team so motivated after  losing a player like they did. It is looking like their week ten match-up against Those Guys might be the deciding factor in who wins that division. As much as I would love to show some love to Those Guys, you cannot beat Kludgies, Vicious Canucks and Vikings, and expect to be regarded as an elite team. If they can impress in the remaining four weeks, I will personally show them love on the WEPL.

I know The Big Lebofsky is a great player but can he please get some support? He had 66 yards receiving whereas the other players on offense combined for a mere 27 yards. If this team wishes to go far, they will need production from everyone and not just TBL. I am sure he can do it all, however, as we have seen time and time again, no team in Division C can survive with only one or two superstars.

**Please email me your responses (provided below) **

Sarwar Standings

1. Fools Of The Country (6-0) – Enough said.

2. Lobster Dinner (5-1) – After a brief absence, Jonathan Brown returned in time to beat Broccasion. It appears they’ve added Simon Richard from Div B who made a big splash last game with 2 interceptions.

3. Trojans (4-1-1) – A strong team just got stronger with the addition of Vinny G.

4. KGP Champs (4-1-1) – With the Cutler to Saleh connection, and everyone else helping out, who can stop them?

5. Mysterious & Magical Men of Terror (4-2) – They’re playing like a middle of the pack team and that is why they’re ranked fifth.

6. Those Guys (4-2) – They’re winning the games they should win and currently are leading the division but for how long?

7. BOOM! Goes The Dynamite (4-2) – A team with motivation and firepower on the horizon, they are surely determined to win out and take the division.

8. Chaos (4-2) – They’re currently flying under the radar right now but I can assure you their potential is much higher than an eighth seed.

9. Cobras (3-1-2) – A loss against KGP Champs drops them down quite a bit however they have a chance climb up high by defeating FOTC this Sunday.

10. Terror Squad (3-3) – A loss to the Titans has TS dropping to the bottom of this week’s power rankings

Grinds My Gears

You know what really grinds my gears, a player receiving five OCs in one game. What is going on in your mind? I would love to understand the thought-process. So you get one or OC or two but feel that it’s not enough because the more the merrier. Then you continue and end the game with FIVE OCs. I know five is a great number especially because Subway has a 5$ special and Dagwoods has a five after five promotion. However in the game of flag football, an OC or two should be more than enough but FIVE is ridiculous in a season, let alone a game. Do we need to get a psychiatrist for players in our league? Perhaps that will assure the sanity of players and will restore peace to FPF. And that my friends, is what grinds my gears.

That’s it for this week’s column. As usual if you have any comments/suggestions, email me at [email protected]. I leave you with the following quote:

“JP would know a thing or two about inconsistency at the quarterback position huh? Lol. I’ll take it as constructive, all good baby. Stop stat staring and WATCH Those Guys’ game, we’re niiiiiiiiiice” – Cody Hemsley of Those Guys.
