Inside the Redzone (DC) – Finals Recap

AND THEN THERE WAS ONE! Congratulations to Triple Sixers who are the 2009 Spring Division C champions. The game between theTriple Sixers and Chaos came down to the last play on which a Hail Mary attempt by Eugene McLaren went unanswered; thus crowning Triple Sixers as the best team in Division C this Spring season. There would be no point in me recapping the game as it should be available for viewing in a few days on our website however I must admit that if I had to lose to any team, Triple Sixers are on top of that list. The squad is filled with class acts and hard working gentlemen who deserved to win it all so congratulations again guys, you have achieved the highest stage of success in FlagPlus Football Division C.

I would like to say a few words about my Chaos teammates: We fought hard all the way to the finals but came up just a little short, however, there is no shame to be felt. We won the first round of playoffs without our QB; also we won our second and third round when everyone picked our opponents to win. I am extremely happy and proud to have been a part of this team and look forward to many more wins and definitely a championship.

Now back to the Triple Sixers. Their path to the finals started with a win over For Teh Lulz. In the second round, they had a tough match up against Flight Of The Concords who had already beaten them in the regular season. The game was a tight affair but Triple Sixers pulled out the win and would face the undefeated Flying Weasels. In that match up they found a way to play great defense (2 INTs, 1 for TD) but furthermore penetrate the best defense in Divison C by scoring 3 offensive TDs and throwing 0 INTs. Last, the finals came down to the last play of the game in which the defense of the Triple Sixers stopped a Hail Mary play to secure the crown. In hindsight, they had to earn their way to the top and therefore have truly deserved to be labeled the best. I can see this franchise having a lot of success in Division 3 in Winter 2010 season with great players such as Karim Chaoual, Alexandre Giroux and 2009 Division C playoffs MVP Patrick Jerome. Therefore I wish them the best of luck in the future and I know they’ll continue to represent FlagPlus Football in the best way possible.

Now that the season has come to an end, it is time to hand out the awards. No, not the awards that FlagPlus Football hands out, but rather the real awards, known as STAR-AWARDS©. Winter 2010

This Winter season will see the Olympics in Vancouver, British Columbia but more importantly, FlagPlus Football will be in its 10th season. The league has gotten better and better every year and will be expanding even more next season, by introducing a new division for beginners. Furthermore, division 4 will be more successful because all of the powerhouse from 2009 Division C Spring season will be playing in Division 3. Therefore it will give a chance for the other teams to get better and play in a division that is best suited for them in terms of competition. I look forward to teams such as Flight Of The Concords, The Commission, Mongoose, Green Machine and a few other teams reach the next level in their game and go for the main prize.

I am not sure which division I will be covering at this point but I will be doing the weekly videos of pre and post game interviews. Plus weekly STAR-wars and Rehan’s role players (yes, that is right! Rehan’s Role Players is back) will be video taped and put in the column. There are a lot of fun things to look forward to in my weekly column but more so, FlagPlus Football will be celebrating its 10th season with great football all thanks in large part to you all. So enjoy the off-season for now by watching NFL and whatever else you like to do to relax and have fun because come Winter 2010, it will be back to business as usual on the field. Thanks again to everyone for making this season a HUGE success and see you all in a few months, Inside The Redzone!
