Game Recaps in a post-NFL season world

Division 3

Une Phrase Bien Fournie vs G.I.H.F

This game could have been called the battle of McGill, as it featured one team made up of former McGill Redbirds, and another that had four of their own in Owen Bujarsky, Chaz Kiddler-Alexander, Juwan Edghill, and Agostino Giagnacovo.

This game was a tale of two halves, as G.I.H.F came out on fire to start the contest. After forcing a turnover on downs from their opponents, the team’s offense took over, as Quarterback Ben McMahon who was his usual duo-threat self, used his legs to avoid the rush of Mikael Paiement, and hit Receivers Kevin Donnet, Brandon Parent, and Edgehill for touchdowns. Parent, who arrived late for the game, proved that he was worth the wait, as he intercepted Une Phrase Bien Fournie Quarterback Xavier Bilodeau late in the first half to set up a score for his team.

Une Phrase Bien Fournie, who came into the game riding high after their first win of the year and scoring a season-high 39 points in their victory over the Backyard Bullies, found their offense in the second half, as Bilodeau who struggled with accuracy early, was able to settle down and connect with Yvan Desjardins for a touchdown, and two others to Vincent Dethier.

The team’s defense also woke up as well, as they held G.I.H.F two touchdowns. A big part of that was the adjustment made by Paiement, as he was able to contain McMahon, and pressure him into early throws, as he did on an interception by Dethier hallway through the second stanza.

Down by only a TD after Dethier’s second trip to the endzone, Une Phrase Bien Fournie decided to go for a 1-point conversion instead of an onside kick. The convo was successful, and the decision looked liked it would be too, if not for a 41-yard TD by Edgehill, on a pass down the middle of the field and over the out-stretched hands of Yvan Desjardins, who took over at Safety after Dethier had to leave the game with what appeared to be a lower body injury. The score by the Mouth of the South, would spell the end for UPBF.

Final Score: G.I.H.F (31-19)

The Process vs Tokyo Sandblasters

This started off close, as both teams struck early with long touchdown passes to put their team on the board. The Process, who scored first, would retake their lead on a touchdown pass from Quarterback Noah Groper to Jonathan Perez. Both sides would not be able to score again before the break.

That would change for The Process in the second half, as the team would get a touchdown form Arie Baazov, and a pair by Yan Librati, who already had a trip to the endzone in the first stanza. The rookie had a standout performance on both offense and defense, as he would finish with a sack, an interception, pass deflection, and a game-high four tackles. Simply put, he was all over the field for his team Monday night in St. Laurent.

The only negative for the team in the game was after his final TD, Librati, attempted to show up the opposition by standing at the 1-yard line with the ball, and purposely taking his time before walking into the endzone. The Receiver received a long talking to from referee Jonathan Williams, right after the play, which continued after the game as well. Other than that little piece of ugliness, the player and his team played a near flawless game in their blowout victory.

Final Score: The Process (32-6)
