FPF News Week 8

This week, I turned 35 years of age.  I was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of timeline comments, messages, and texts I received during a mere 24 hour span.  Thank you all who took the time to wish me well.  I appreciate it and tried to reach out and show my gratitude in return.  In case I missed anyone, I thank you whole heartedly.

No more for now.  No ridiculous stories and nonsense…just a true honest thank you to a community of good people.  Thank you FPF, you have given me more than you’ll ever know.

Disappointed

·         Although they haven’t won their previous matchup, Braves kept it awfully close against FPF All-Stars even though they begun the game with only 5 players. It was, probably, Jonathan Maheu’s best game of the season and they’re finally looking like a top contender once again.

·         Top Guns were a play away from pulling off the upset against DK and I can’t help but be impressed with how they handled themselves and the fight they put up this week. Most (including me) wrote them off for this game and they proved us all wrong; kudos to them.

·         Trigger Happy Bunnies were without their starting QB Jonathan Lemieux, yet, backup Simon Richard played QB for the hour and performed excessively well scoring 34 points and making his opponents look bad for the entire time. Taking over at QB is far from easy and he, somehow, made it look effortless.

·         A-Squad have been going off the rails recently. Their defence is fine, but Corey Wawalski’s offence isn’t going anywhere (12 points won’t cut it). They’ve had tough matchups throughout the tournament, but this one was one of those they needed to bag as a W.

·         Mean Machine had this week’s game under wraps for most of the first half, but dumb penalties and the inability to score when it truly mattered came back to haunt them as they allowed their opponents, No Name, to make a comeback and steal the W right under their nose.

·         North Shore Finners have one of the best QB in the division, yet, can’t seem to find plays that work for them. Their ability to score at will on 40-bomb should elevate their game, but it’s barely used and they struggle to put up numbers week-in and week-out. This week’s game was just one more question mark for me.

Peeze

Impressed

Disappointed

·         Lockdown tied X-Men after two losses in the earlier games in this round. The fact that they could keep pace with Guatama Swaminadham’s offense is impressive.  I’m excited to see what they can do moving forward.

·         After a questionable win 2 weeks ago, Bearskins have turned it on recently.  This last game saw Marco Bertoldi turn up and look like one of the best receivers in the tournament. Bearskins are finally starting to look like themselves.

·         KGP RA Phil Cutler is really maximizing the talent on this roster.  They kept pace with a far superior Freshii Superfoods.  While they could not get the stops on defense their offense was truly impressive in a 45-41 loss.

·         Lightweight let me down a little.  Clearly #NR were a far superior team and Corey Pecker makes Lightweight QB Simon Dagenais look like an all-star where his mother is the only voter.  However,I thought this could have bene a trap game for #NR.  I was wrong

·         Farmers took a loss in a game against Dawson Caf’s Finest. It looks like in the absence of Corey Greenaway and/or Nicholas Belleau the Farmers simply have trouble competing. I hought this core had learned enough to be a contender in Tier 2.

·         After the Bruins won their grudge match against the Blacksox I thought that the team was ready to turn the page. Thomas Forget seems to have stabilized the quarterback position. However the Bruins still seem to have a lot to learn before the can expect to see success in FPF.

 Games of the Week

FPF Daily Fantasy

Perhaps our lowest scoring week in Fantasy.  Simon’s 93.2 beat my 89.4 and straggling far behind was Francois who merely scored 87.4 points.  Each week, in absence of pro injury reports, we hope that all of our selections will play.  This week the three of us had chosen AJ Gomes who did not dress for Warriors in week 7 and thus, we all hung a 0 in a spot that we thought we had great value on a talented player.

Let’s hope our picks suit up for week 8!

Peeze’s Top Performers: Gianni Settino (37.7 points), Yoni Loeub (15 points), Vincent Benjamin (21.6 points)

Francois’ Top Performers: Pat Riot (31.4 points), Alex David (28.4 points), Jared Buck (18.6 points)

Simon’s Top Performers: Rochdi Benabdelkader (41.8 points), Etienne Vaillancourt (24.8 points), JD Joly (16.2 points)

Fantasy Rules and Scoring

Each week, Simon, Francois and I will select a quarterback, 3 wide receivers, a rusher a defensive back (where only their defensive points will count) and a flex player who’s offensive and defensive contributions will count.  Players weekly price will be determined by their cap hit +/- the spread in their games.  Moreover, we cannot exceed a cost of 560 points.

This is a PPR league (Points Per Reception league) so, snappers you will not be neglected.  The scoring breaks down as follows:

Quarterbacks: 1 point per 15 yards passing, 3 points per passing td, 1 point per 5 yards rushing, 5 points per rushing TD. -2 points will be deducted per interception and -1 point will be deducted per sack.

Wide Receivers: 1 point per catch, 1 point per 5 yards receiving, 5 points per TD

Rusher: 2 points per tackle, 7.5 points per sack, 3 points per PD, 5 Points per TD

DBs: 2 points per tackle, 4 points per interception, 3 points per PD and 5 Points per TD
