Flo’s Forecast: Division A and B Preview

For those who don’t know me, I’ve played in this league for a while now and joined the media crew last season. I had a blast writing division 3 in the winter but this season, Mr. Commissioner Rob Campana himself asked me to take over divisions A/B, and so here I am. I’m the quarterback of the Predators in division B and have joined the Legends in division A this season, and so I’ll be seeing a lot you guys on the field. Be nice to me and I might not call you out in my articles! FPF is truly a privilege so to every newcomer and returning player, get out there have some fun and best of luck to all!

WHAT TO EXPECT?

Mise-O-Jeu

This weekly segment will peg none other than Peeze, Simon Dagenais and myself against one another as we pick every game against the spread.

Survivor Pool:

Starting week 2, I’ll ask fellow FPF writers and whoever else wants to participate to pick one winning team in division A or B. Once you pick a team, you can no longer pick them again. I’ll write a post in the FPF Facebook group and you will have to send me your picks by Thursday midnight every week if you want your pick registered.

FPF Fantasy:

Each week, I’ll peg two position players against one another and pick the one who I think will have the bigger impact that week.

Stud/Dud of the Week:

Here I’ll highlight a few players in each division that put the team on their backs (stud), or cost their team (dud).

Things We Learned:

This will be a place for random thoughts along with anything important that we may have learned through the week’s games.

Power Rankings:

I’ll include a top 5 power rankings of what I believe are the 5 best teams in division B that given week, and since there are only 6 teams in A, rank those in order as well.

With the spring season kicking off Sunday night, here are my preseason power rankings in both divisions A and B.

———————————–

Division A Power Rankings

  1. All Black Everything

Essentially Roosters and Donkeys, they come back to defend their title under a different name. They’ve lost Jamil Springer but this roster is still absolutely loaded with top end talent from top to bottom and I don’t see why this team won’t be making it back to the finals in August.

Prediction: 8-2

  1. Montreal’s Finest

Having not made the finals for the first time in a long time, you better expect Kevin Wyeth to come back with a vengeance this spring. The team has added two-way stud Pat Jerome to the roster looking for an added boost to get them back to their dominant ways.

Prediction: 8-2

  1. Rainmakers

Here’s a team that while able to compete with the big dogs, never seemed to really be a real threat. That could very well change this season with the huge additions of the Pilon brothers and defensive guru Rochdi Benabdelkader. Will they be enough to take down the obvious top-2 contenders?

Prediction: 6-4

  1. Top Guns

This team looks to be pretty loaded as well with some big-time names in Jamil Springer and Jacques Void highlighting. Paul Lapierre won’t have any shortage of very capable targets to throw to and they’re bound to cause some upsets.

Prediction: 3-7

  1. Legends

A consistent division 2 powerhouse attempts to move up to division A for the second time. Last year didn’t pan out well, but they return with a much improved roster adding Sean Kennedy, Travis Moses, and myself to the mix, while retaining their top player Ryan Lelinowski. They could have their growing pains early but to think they will be an easy out could be a costly mistake for any of their opponents.

Prediction: 3-7

  1. Monstars

Fresh off a division 2 quarterback of the year award, Rod Mashtoub brings his Monstars to division A where they will look to continue surprising people. While there were rumors that the Pilon twins would be joining the roster for the spring, they ultimately ended up going to the Rainmakers. Although I love this team and the balls they’re showing by moving up, the Monstars, on paper, have arguably the thinnest and weakest roster in the division if they don’t pick up a big name free agent.

Prediction: 1-9

Divison B Top 5 Power Rankings

  1. Grip N Rip

The division 3 champs just got a hell of a lot better. The additions of J-D Chevalier and Steve Sanner are brilliant pickups for a team that caught fire late last season. On top of that, James Donald is also back to reinforce what should be a dominant defense. Sure, the loss of Jason prince hurts but I absolutely love the moves they’ve made this offseason and it should pay huge dividends.

Prediction: 8-2

  1. Star City

This is a SCARY roster. Take the best of the Sea Assassins, combine them with a three-headed monster from The Brotherhood, and add Maxime Giroux to boot, and you have a hell of a team set to make life miserable for any team on their schedule. Watch out.

Prediction: 8-2

  1. Laval’s Finest

After a disappointing end to an amazing season, Laval’s Finest is back with the identical roster and set to avenge their loss. Honestly, their loss in the finals I think was due more to a weak gameplan and lack of in-game adjustments that cost them more so than any lack of talent. This team has that invaluable chemistry and a ton of talent to go with it. They will be dangerous and should be a force in the playoffs once again.

Prediction: 7-3

  1. Darksiders

I think people are sleeping on this team a little too much. Don’t forget, this is the same team that went 9-1 in div B in the regular season while sporting the #1 defense last year. They got upset by the eventual champion Predators in the semis but you’d be a fool to think that this team won’t be dangerous again, especially with the key additions of Rochdi Benabdelkader and Justin Blanchard to the roster.

Prediction: 7-3

  1. The Incredibles

Wow, some old-school stuff right here..yup The Incredibles are back! If Greg Stern can regain his previous form, then this is a team that will compete with the best of them. With Nardone, Peterson, Bertoldi and Papich guiding the ship, Stern should have an easy time getting the ball to these guys.

 Prediction: 7-3

Best of luck to all teams for week 1! If you want to reach me for any inquiries or to disagree with me, feel free to hit me up at [email protected] or DM me @JFloMusicMTL on Twitter.
