Finals for Coed 1 & 2

The finals are taking place tonight at the Marie-Victorin complex. The roadshow begins at 1 pm, but Coed 2’s match is scheduled for 5:40 pm, and Coed 1’s match at 6:50 pm. This season has been characterized by ups and downs; it witnessed the most upsets compared to previous seasons. Teams that were expected to reach the finals lost in the early playoff rounds, while unexpected teams secured their spots. It was truly a peculiar yet thrilling season, keeping us on our toes to see what would unfold next. That being said, let’s delve into the finalists for the Winter 2024 season!

Coed 1

Plenty of Fish vs The IG Team

Plenty of Fish barely made it into the playoffs but managed to secure their spot by stopping the conversion in overtime against Party Mix. Unfortunately, Maude Lacasse’s injury has sidelined her for several games now therefore, Dylan Taylor has stepped up as their quarterback, and the team has adapted quickly, winning crucial games. However, facing The IG Team poses a new challenge as their previous encounter in February, to which it was Maude who was the quarterback. Playing against The IG Team’s versatile defense, known for its ability to intercept passes, will test Dylan’s skills.

The IG Team, with Jeanslee Alexi back in the lineup, it helped the team get to the finals. I’m not worried they will play amazing as they have a history of performing well in finals. Their aggressive playstyle and determination will make them formidable opponents and Jeanslee’s agility as a quarterback will pose challenges for Plenty of Fish’s defense. Despite the addition of Sarah-Maude Mathieu as a rusher and also to have the minimum of female athletes on the field, Plenty of Fish may need to strategize further, perhaps reintroducing Julian McLaren-Thompson for added pressure and speed. Although Sarah-Maude Mathieu did get an award for the most outstanding female player with 12 tackles and 10 sacks in the regular season of Coed 2, it will be intriguing to see if she can make the step in Coed 1 and apply pressure on Jeanslee and disrupt The IG Team’s offense.

Finals Prediction Winner: The IG Team

Coed 2

Y&Y vs Pass Whoopin’

Let me attempt to be unbiased during this segment, as I am a player for Pass Whoopin’, let’s analyze these two teams. Both Y&Y and Pass Whoopin’ were in the top 5 during the regular season, with Y&Y securing the 2nd seed with an 8-1-1 record, and Pass Whoopin’ being the 4th seed with an 8-2 record. According to statistics discussed in the podcast, Pass Whoopin’ boasted the best defense, conceding the fewest points throughout the season. Today, their defense will face a stern test against Y&Y as both teams never played against each other prior. Pass Whoopin’s team members are enthusiastic and prepared for the finals. Making it to the finals in their debut season with this team is commendable. They displayed exceptional performance during the playoffs, maintaining significant leads in their victories compared to Y&Y who have won with only a 2-3 points difference in their playoff games. I can confirm from a reliable source that the Pass Whoopin’ players are highly motivated on this day; they are coming in hot and ready to play against Y&Y.

Y&Y, boasting a roster of over 20 players, faces the challenge of managing their lineup effectively. It is hoped that all players will receive equal playing time, considering their investment in the team. As for their quarterback, he has never played against Pass Whoopin’, so it will be a slight challenge and a game of adjustment for him just as much as for Chris Rivest. Let’s see how this turns out.

Finals Prediction Winner: Pass Whoopin’ (based on a poll conducted on FlagPlus’ Instagram, reflecting the FPF community’s opinion)
