Dynamic Duo’s and the Playoff Breakdown

Week 4

Welcome back to another week of  Tier 2 news! This season has been nothing short of exciting as we head into week 4. The back end of the league schedule is pretty slim with only 3 games in week 7 and 4 games in week 9 so it might seem early but stacking up wins now can ultimately allow teams to finish in the top 8 and allow for a double elimination in the playoffs. As per usual ill go over some weekly headlines and big matchups but first let’s dive into how the playoff format works in tier 2 this season.

Playoff Breakdown

A little complicated but I will try my best to explain how the post season bracket will work out. 17 teams in tier 2, luckily everyone will qualify for the playoffs. The first 8 seeded teams will play in their own top bracket and be eligible for double elimination. Meaning the top 8 seeds will be able to lose a game in the top bracket and will not be eliminated from the playoffs. They will be reseeded and will join the bottom bracket where a loss means elimination. Seeds 9 and lower will also play in a bracket that ultimately meets the top bracket in the finals.

  • The 16 and 17 seed will play each other once the regular season is over in order to bring the playoff picture to 16 teams.
  • Any loss in the playoffs by a team seeded 9 or lower is eliminated from playoffs.
  • See playoff breakdown image below for all details

Weekly Headlines

Arouch Still looking for their first W

After 3 games played arouch still hasn’t been able to get into the win column. Two ties and a one point loss brings this teams record to 0-1-2 with 92 points for and 93 against. Playing well but they haven’t been able to close out close games versus good teams. Unfortunately their schedule doesn’t get much easier as they play Dime and Bougie, Fins up and Les Potes a Bessette to close out the season. Eric Lalonde Qb for Arouch has had a great start to the season throwing for 14 touchdowns and only 2 INT’s. I guess their issue has to be converting extra points as they have scored 14 times and only converted 6 extra point plays. Worth noting their defence has not been able to force a turnover in 3 games so that will be something to monitor for this team.

3 undefeated teams remain

After only 2 weeks only 3 teams remain undefeated; The infantry, Kiss My Inlaws and EZW. Even though EZW is only 2-0 they beat a really good Ambush team and with Jeremy White back under center for EZW they will get back to their old winning ways. Their schedule should also benefit them as they only play a few big dogs of tier 2. Out of these 3 remaining teams I believe Kiss My Inlaws will be unbeaten the longest. A Big matchup between the infantry and KMI this week so one of these teams will get their first loss this week.

Week 4 spotlight matchups of the week

Dime and Bougie (1-1) Vs  Les Potes a Bessette (1-1)

Despite these 2 teams being in the same division in the winter and spring, they have not played each other once yet. But finally, we get the matchup I’ve been waiting to see. A battle between the divisions top Qbs, Jules Regimbald Vs Frédéric Paquette-Perrault. I am so exited so see how this game will unfold as the divisions best up and coming teams square off vs each other for the first time. Fred will get to see first hand how the Dime and Bougie defence suffocates opposing QBs and shadow Wrs. He and #1 target Tristan Fiske-Casault will have to dominate every possession if they want to keep things close vs. Dime and Bougie. I don’t think the defence of Bessette will be enough to hold Dime and Bougie to a respectable number and will need to trade shot after shot to win this game. Give me Dime and Bougie 48-31.

Kiss My Inlaws (2-0) Vs The Infantry (3-0)

Probably the biggest matchup of the week as the two top undefeated teams face off in a week 4 clash. The Infantry have been hot so far going 3-0 in the first 2 weeks. Knocking off some big teams in tier 2 against dime and bougie and Dirty Birds. All three of their games have been decided by a one score game so it just goes to show how efficient and clutch this team has been out of the gate. Their next challenge is probably their biggest and their defence will be tested the most versus a top 3 QB of the division. Kiss My Inlaws led by Iggy Manzanedo have soared over 40 points in their first two games. 12 TD’s and only 2 INTS. The KMI defence have also been on a tear as they have snagged 5 INTs in 2 games as well. This team is playing well and is stacked with ballers. Look for KMI to come out with the victory in a tight high scoring affair 42-40.

Week 3 Players of the week

QB: Jules Regimbald- Dime and Bougie

In a Week 3 clash against The Boys Are Back, Jules Regimbald of Dime and Bougie orchestrated an offensive barrage that left the league in awe. Regimbald’s performance was nothing short of extraordinary, throwing for a staggering 330 yards and delivering an astounding eight touchdowns, all without a single interception to make his day even more impressive. His precision, strategic brilliance, and composure under pressure were instrumental in securing a resounding 63-25 victory. Regimbald’s  performance was a testament to his exceptional skill and shows why he was last springs QB of the Year. His amazing TD-INt ratio is really what solidified his well-deserved title as QB of the Week. His performance will undoubtedly be remembered as one of the standout moments of this season and any repeat of this magnitude will surly make him a front runner for Tier 2’s Best QB of the season.

Wr: Tristan Fiske- Casault- Les Potes à Bessette

In a standout performance that showcased both skill and dominance, Tristan Fiske-Casault of Les Potes à Bessette delivered a tour de force against Fins Up, propelling his team to an emphatic 33-6 victory. Fins Up’s defense found themselves grappling for answers as Fiske-Casault left an indelible mark on the game. Out of eight passes thrown his way, he hauled in an impressive seven, amassing a total of 81 yards and securing three crucial touchdowns. Fiske-Casault’s combination of size and speed proved insurmountable for Fins Up, leaving defenders in his wake and etching his name as a force to be reckoned with in the league. His exceptional performance was instrumental in the resounding victory and earns him the well-deserved title of Wide Receiver of the Week. This display of talent and tenacity exemplifies the very essence of Flag Plus Football.

DEF: Vincy Biande- Les Potes à Bessette

In a game that hinged on defensive prowess, the standout performance of Bessette et Ses Potes’ exceptional defensive back was nothing short of awe-inspiring. His contributions were instrumental in securing the crucial victory and shifting the momentum decisively in his team’s favour. Ending the game with a whopping five tackles, two pivotal interceptions, and two pass defences, this defensive stalwart demonstrated a level of skill and determination that truly set him apart. His uncanny ability to read the game, anticipate plays, and disrupt the opposing offense was nothing short of a defensive masterclass. This remarkable display of defensive excellence embodies the very essence of Flag Plus Football and earns him the prestigious title of Defensive Player of the Week. His performance is a testament to the impact a single player can have on the outcome of a game, and his contributions will undoubtedly be celebrated by teammates and fans alike.

2-Way: Sanders Armand- Kiss My Inlaws

In a display of exceptional versatility, the two-way prowess of Kiss My Inlaws’ standout receiver and defensive back was nothing short of extraordinary. His impact on both sides of the ball proved pivotal in securing their latest victory. On offense, he was an unstoppable force amassing an impressive 71 yards, two crucial touchdowns, and executing a vital two-point conversion. His ability to find the end zone showcased his offensive brilliance and provided the team with much-needed firepower.

However, his contributions didn’t stop there. On the defensive front, he exhibited an uncanny ability to disrupt plays, snatching a key interception and registering a  pass defence. His presence in the secondary acted as a barrier, denying the opposition precious yardage and opportunities. This dual-threat impact was felt on every inch of the field, showcasing a level of skill and determination that truly set him apart in tier 2 this week. Such a stellar performance epitomizes the essence of a two-way player, leaving an indelible mark on the game. The teammates of Kiss My Inlaws undoubtedly recognize the magnitude of his contributions, and his name will resonate all season as he is always capable of changing a games outcome.
