Division D – Preseason Preview

Division D – Preseason Preview
As the spring season of FlagPlus Football kicks off, Division D stands out as one of the league’s deepest and most unpredictable tiers. With 26 teams in the hunt, the competition promises to be full of surprises — from redemption stories to playoff veterans looking to level up. Six teams have already gotten a head start on the campaign, but with over 20 more set to debut in the coming days, the landscape is wide open.
Opening Week – First Impressions Matter
While most teams are still waiting for their season opener, six squads have already kicked off their spring campaigns:
- Super Troopers made the biggest statement, dropping a 46-18 win on Still an Inch Short. After finishing 3–7 in Division 5A over the winter and missing the playoffs, this returning team looks sharp early. It’s too soon to declare a turnaround season, but their offense looks revitalized and confident.
- Fumble Factory impressed in a 31-13 win over Born Ready, controlling both sides of the ball. Their 18-point differential shows signs of a balanced team ready to compete.
- The Boys Are Back? edged Vieux Lynx 26-22 in what could be a sign of a strong, disciplined team capable of closing tight games.
Early standings have those three teams tied at 1–0, while Still an Inch Short, Born Ready, and Vieux Lynx start at 0–1. The standings will shift quickly, but these early results matter — especially in a crowded division where every win impacts playoff seeding.
Returning Teams: Redemption and Revenge
About half of Division D is made up of returning teams from the Winter season. That continuity brings established chemistry — but also pressure to improve. Here’s a breakdown of some notable returning squads and their storylines:
Super Troopers
Winter Record: 3–7 (Division 5A)
Playoffs: Missed
They’ve already tripled their point differential from most winter outings, and their 46-point performance shows they’re capable of explosive scoring. If they can clean up on defense and avoid turnovers, they could sneak into the upper third of the standings.
Pump N’ Dump
Winter Record: 5–4–1 (Division 5A)
Playoffs: Lost in Divisional Round
One of the most experienced teams in the division, Pump N’ Dump brings back a battle-tested core. Their chemistry gives them a chance to go further this time around. The question is whether they can find that extra gear in tight playoff moments.
NIGHTHAWKS
Winter Record: 5–5 (Division 4A)
Playoffs: Lost in Divisional Round
NIGHTHAWKS could be a serious contender in Division D. They were competitive in the stronger 4A tier and should bring elite game speed, communication, and defensive ability to this level. Expect them to be among the most fundamentally sound teams in the league.
Brewers
Winter Record: 3–7 (Division 5A)
Playoffs: Missed
Like Super Troopers, the Brewers struggled in Winter 5A but return with a chip on their shoulder. If they can build on their experience and improve their red-zone efficiency, they have the pieces to pull off some upsets.
Snowdon Deli Degens
Winter Record: 4–6 (Division 4B)
Playoffs: Missed
The Degens were competitive in most games but struggled to close. Their strength lies in their quarterback play, Adam Malinoff needs to take a huge step this season. they could surprise teams not ready for their tempo.
Les Super Turbos Navets
Winter Record: 5–5 (Division 5B)
Playoffs: Lost in Semi-Finals
This is a team to watch closely. They were strong late last season and showed real playoff mettle. If they carry that momentum into Spring, they could emerge as a top seed by midseason.
Studz
Winter Record: 8–2 (Division 5B)
Playoffs: Lost in Divisional Round
One of the best regular season teams in their former division, Studz return with high expectations. After a frustrating early playoff exit, they’ll be hungry to prove they’re more than a regular season powerhouse.
Mighty Ducks
Winter Record: 4–6 (Division 5B)
Playoffs: Lost in Divisional Round
Always competitive, Pranav Sharma is a real dual threat quarterback.
Uncle Rico’s Ryders
Winter Record: 3–7 (Division 4A)
Playoffs: Missed
Despite their struggles, Uncle Rico’s Ryders have experience in higher-division flag football. They’ll need to stay disciplined and avoid self-inflicted mistakes, but their upside is higher than their Winter record suggests.
Bullshigh
Winter Record: 6–4 (Division 5B)
Playoffs: Lost in Divisional Round
A tough team with some playoff experience. If they open up their playbook on offense, they’ll be a dark horse candidate to win it all.
New Faces
While many teams are returning, the Spring season always introduces fresh faces. Teams like The Boys Are Back?, Fumble Factory, and Still an Inch Short are looking to write their own history, and opening week already gave us a taste of their potential.
New teams often fly under the radar, but they can disrupt the established order — especially with athletic, versatile rosters or creative schemes.
Expect at least one new squad to make a deep run this season.
Contenders, Sleepers, and Wild Cards
It’s early, but some categories are already forming:
Early Contenders
- Studz – Based on their 8–2 Winter, they’re the measuring stick.
- Pump N’ Dump – Veteran roster, playoff-tested.
- Les Super Turbos Navets – Made it to the semis and could go further.
Sleepers
- Snowdon Deli Degens – Under the radar, with high-upside.
- Bullshigh – Tough team that could beat anyone on their day.
- Super Troopers – If Week 1 was real, they’re better than advertised.
Wild Cards
- NIGHTHAWKS – Coming from a higher division, they might dominate.
- Uncle Rico’s Ryders – A mystery team with more potential than results.
- Fumble Factory – Only one game, but a statement win nonetheless.
Division D is a proving ground. It’s where experienced teams from mid-tier divisions come to bounce back, where newer squads learn quickly, and where playoff dreams are earned over ten tough games. With so many returning teams hungry for redemption and new challengers making early noise, this promises to be one of the most compelling races in FlagPlus Football this spring.
