Division A Season Preview

Division A Season Preview
As the Spring/Summer 2025 season of FlagPlus Football begins, a lot of eyes turn to Division A. Home to the highest level of 6v6 flag football in Canada. With elite play calling, and talent-rich rosters, this division is where reputations are made—and challenged.
Now one week in, six of the seven teams have seen action. While the sample size is small, early matchups have already delivered some fireworks. But the real intrigue lies in how these teams are built, how they’ve evolved from winter, and which ones can separate from the pack over the course of the season.
The Jamesons
Formerly known as Run It Twice, this squad went 2-8 in Winter Division 1 but still clawed their way to a semi-final appearance. They opened their season with a 36-30 win over PartyCrashers.
At QB is Jeff Rosenblatt, one of the most respected names in FlagPlus history. Rosenblatt is second all-time in career passing yards and touchdowns, and he brings experience few can match. The Jamesons surely view themselves as one of the top teams in this stacked division and will be looking to prove that all season long.
Their upcoming Week 2 clash against the Braves could be a tone-setter for the entire season.
Braves
There’s no questioning the identity of the current alpha. The Braves are the reigning Winter Division 1 champions, Winter Competitive champions, Fall Tier 1 champions, Fall Competitive champions, and Spring Division A champions. The Braves are widely viewed as the best franchise in both 6v6 and 5v5 flag football.
Their success starts with Jonathan Maheu, a quarterback whose elite flag football IQ cannot be questioned.
Their Week 1 battle with the newly upgraded Infantry was tight—a 37-34 victory—and the Braves once again found a way to close when it counted. Their ability to adjust mid-game and maintain composure under pressure continues to set them apart.
Vultures
Jumping from Winter Division 2 to Division A is no small step, but the Vultures are trying to prove they belong.
Their Week 3 matchup against The Jamesons will be an excellent test for how far they’ve come—and how far they still have to go.
One Stop
One Stop hasn’t taken the field yet this season. Like the Vultures, they return from Winter Division 2, where they posted a solid 6-4 record.
The jump to Division A is significant, but One Stop has the tools to make it work. They’ll make their debut in Week 2 against the Infantry—a brutal opening test.
PartyCrashers
Athletically, PartyCrashers can match up with anyone in the league. Their 6-3-1 record last season in Winter Division 1 showed just how dangerous they can be. But despite all the speed and explosiveness, the breakthrough has yet to come.
Their Week 1 loss to The Jamesons wasn’t a disaster, but until they string together wins against top-tier teams like the Braves or Infantry, they’ll continue to sit just outside the inner circle of elite contenders. They’ll look to get back on track in Week 2 against Idaho Udapimps.
The Infantry
The most upgraded roster in the division belongs to The Infantry. While technically a returning team from Winter Division 2, their identity has shifted dramatically thanks to three major additions:
- Kevin Wyeth, widely considered the GOAT of FlagPlus Football
- Matt Kirouac, Wyeth’s longtime snapper
- Matt Bond, a game-changer on both sides of the ball, adds an all-around impact few can match.
They lost a tight Week 1 battle to the Braves, but it’s hard to view that as a negative. Expect The Infantry to be in the championship conversation all season long.
Idaho Udapimps
The Idaho Udapimps went 6-4 in Winter Division 2, showing some flashes of high-end talent. This season, they’ve added Sanders Armand, an elite defender who can shut down an offence.
They dropped a close one to the Vultures in Week 1 (42-45), but the offensive output was promising. If their defense can tighten up, especially with Armand anchoring the unit, they’ll be a tough out week in and week out.
With the regular season stretching until early August, there’s plenty of time for movement. The Braves remain the gold standard, but the Infantry, Jamesons, and even fresh squads like the Vultures and One Stop could shift that narrative.
The biggest storyline may be whether a new challenger can truly dethrone the Braves, or if Maheu and company are simply too seasoned and too sharp to fall.
