Div C Finals Predictions

Whats up FPF, we have finally made it to the weekend we have all been looking forward to and striving to play in…Finals Weekend. We began this journey back in May where every team in FPF was striving for one goal….to be crowned FPF champions. Div C is a special division as every year different teams enter the competition from lower divisions or form new ones with some of the best players in FPF. Teams like Bandits, Mengoose are great examples of division D teams from Spring 2024 to make the jump to div C and show that they can compete! The Cap allows for some division 1 players to play along side friends but still have a competitive feel. Names like Jeanslee Alexis, Jeremy Murphy and Felix Boutet are all great examples. This was a large but entertaining division to follow. It may seem like this division was top heavy has the #1 seed is facing the #2 seed in this weekends finals but it is extremely note worthy that no teams went undefeated and that 9 out of 15 team went .500 or just 1 game away. That just comes to show how tight a lot of matchups were and how many games were unpredictable. Congratulations to every team on a fantastic season as winning the championship is rarely what defines a successful season. Getting better, building chemistry and most importantly having fun and immersing yourself in our community is the #1 goal. Now onto our semi finals recaps and what your all really here for, my Div C Finals Prediction.

Semi Finals Recap

Les Petites Crottes (9-1) Vs Jagerbomb (6-4)

LPC took on Jagerbomb in this semi final game where LPC ended with the upper hand and took the victory 26-18. Jason Rayes was phenomenal in this one throwing for 150 cards 4 touchdowns and 0 ints. While he wasn’t effective running the ball like he usually is (3 attempts for 5 yards) he still had a great game and took what the defence was giving him. Jagerbomb played also played well but a slow first half held them back in this one. Were used to seeing much more from the Jagerbomb offence so to only see them score 18 pints was very surprising. The biggest reason why LPC got this win was the great defensive work they put on Duchesne and Felix Fontaine-Larouche. From being one of the top 3 QB-WR connections in the division the LPC defence held them to only 13 yards and 1 touchdown, as well as the least amount of receptions for the team. The 1 INT was all LPC needed to get ahead, and their stingy 4th down defence sealed the game for them as Jagerbomb only converted 1/4. LPC advances to another Final.

Lebrontourage   (8-2)  Vs    Speed Academy (8-2)

Lebrontourage took on Speed Academy in this highly anticipated matchup that pinned two of the most explosive offences in the divisions against one another. LeBrontourage won this semi final by a score of 38-31. Although this one may seem like a close matchup, LeBrontourage were leading happily by two scores towards the very end of the game when Speed Academy had some life left in their Spring season where they scored with time expiring to make it a one score game and Speed Academy needed the onside kick to have a chance at securing the victory. But unfortunately they were denied by the LeBrontourage defence as Charles Verrault made the game sealing interception that send them to the Finals. Speed Academy had a great year full of success but their defence was unable to get the crucial stops and turnovers when they needed it most. Emile Plante had also thrown 2 ints before the onside kick so their offence wasn’t as perfect as they could have been knowing their defence would struggle. Only 1 pass defence and a bunch of tackles show up on the stat sheet for Speed Academy so they will look to add some defensive pieces in their next few seasons to finally reach the mountain top. For LeBrontourage a tougher opponent awaits in the Finals.

Finals Prediction

Here we have the best two teams in the division facing off for ultimate glory. The #1 seeded Les Petites Carottes who ended the season with an astonishing but not surprising 9-1 record.

Believe it or not this regular season was less successful then their undefeated run last spring in 2024 where they ultimately lost in the semi-finals. But this team geared up and ran it back with the same squad of studs. Players like Xavier Brault, Zachary Cloutier and  Laurent Beauchamp have been cornerstone players for the franchise and keep putting up strong numbers and impressive performances. Their chemistry stems from a long time ago when they played youth and college football together and since 2023 LPC has been a force in FPF. But they still have something to prove as LPC is looking for their first FPF championship. The closest they have come was the water of 2024 where LPC made the division 5A championship but lost to Sleeping All-Stars. Will this be the season that their hard work in the regular season will finally pay off and end with them holding the trophy?

Who Stands In Their Way?  LeBrontourage

Just a bunch of dudes who love football, but LeBrontourage is much more then that as these Concordia guys are ATHLETES. Some of the fastest and most dangerous men in division C LeBrontourage has been a scary team all season. Their 8-2 record and the #2 seed in the division shows their grit and talent as this is their first season playing all together on an FPF field. With real dogs on the squad like Ahmed Boubacar, Dante Sparagna, and Tristan Mancini their offensive and defensive capabilities skyrocket any scale. It was clear from week 1 that they needed to be watched closely and were going to be a huge problem in this division. I did assume that the loss of Braves Division 1 player Jeremy Murphy would have been more of an issue for them but since his departure they have only lost 1 game and have made the finals. They boast one of the top offences in the division with an average of 35 points per game and a dual threat QB, not many defences have had answers for LeBrontourage. Will they cap off their special debut season with a championship or will LPC prove once again that they are the best in the division.

Previous matchup

These teams have faced off already in week 7 where LPC came out on top by a large margin 42-12. All roster players were present for both teams so this was a fair matchup that LPC just had the upper hand the whole way.  LeBrontourage couldn’t get much going offensively as they only scored 6 points in each half and threw 4 interceptions in the entire game. Their defence also had no answer for Laurent Beauchamp as he caught every pass thrown to him for 60 yards and 3 scores. One thing that LPC did particularly well that they are going to want to replicate was the success of their 2 point convert attempts as they scored 6 points off 6 touchdowns. Jason Rayes wasn’t bothered by any pressure from opposing rushers as he ran 5 times for 36 yards and took 0 sacks. I don’t think that LeBrontourage was ready for LPC this game, and they didn’t know what to expect from their system and their stars. I expect LeBrontourage to be bette prepared this time around.

QB Comparison

Jason Rayes

Jason has had another stellar season and for only playing 8 games, his stats are off the charts. 1400 yards and 40 touchdowns through the air in only 8 games is elite. When you add that he only turned the ball over 4 times and was only sacked 5 times you can tell that he wasn’t bothered by any defences this season. Completing passes at a high 72 percent makes him top of the division and shows that he was accurate in getting the ball to his playmakers. But Reyes’ ability extends beyond the passing game as he can make any rusher miss and make you pay immensely when running the football. He added 220 yards and 2 touchdowns in the regular season and has also ran for 30 yards and a score in 2 playoff games. His combination of accuracy and speed make him very difficult to contain as he can get first downs with ease but still hit deep routes if need be. Reyes is quickly becoming a household name and he’s just missing a championship to add to his already impressive resume.

Gianni Casati

While Gianni Casati is also a dual threat QB, he tends to lean on his arm more then Rayes.  In his 10 games this season Gianni was a top candidate for QBOY but unfortunately was missing total passing yards to solidify his case. He threw for a great 66% for 1400 yards and 43 touchdowns in the regular season. He did turn the ball over more then you would like one of the best QBs in the division to throw but 9 ints in 10 games is nothing to be worried about especially considering he threw almost half of them in his one poor outing against LPC. He did add 279 rushing yards to his total but did find himself in the endzone from the ground. Casati has been great all season but LeBrontourage needs more then great, they need close to perfection if they want to get their revenge on LPC.

After taking all things into consideration and after following these teams all season long and basically having them interchange the #1 spot on my power rankings all season long, I have finally made my prediction. As I said earlier LeBrontourage will be way more prepared after seeing the running ability of Rayes and the numerous weapons that he has. Even though LPC is without Xavier Brault due to injury, LeBrontourage themselves are probably without Jeremy Murphy so they both lose a player who has lots of height that has jump ball ability.  I do Think both teams will be successful on offence, meaning Lebrontourage will not struggle so hard versus the LPC defence compared to their last meeting. I think Gianni Casati’s key is to not force anything that isn’t there and to trust his teammates run after catch instead trying to pick-up the majority of their yards through the air. Like always converts decide games, even more so in the playoffs so Lebrontourage will either have to slow down LPC’s 2-point converts or the will have to score more of them on the offensive side of the ball. This one is going to come down to the wire. But I believe that Jason Rayes will be too much for the LeBrontourage defence and he will continue to carve out big plays. Give me LPC in a nail bitter, where they are the last team to score and they secure a final stop and win their first Championship. LPC 42-38.

Finals MVP Prediction

Jason Rayes: 205 yards, 4 touchdowns 1 int, 40 rushing yards and 1 TD.
