Div C: Bomb’s, Headlines and Rankings

Whats up FPF, I’m back with our weekly division C articles and I will be covering this division for the remainder of the season. For those of you who don’t know me my name is Raff Morelli and I playing in the 5v5 competitive division. I have been playing in FPF since 2018 and have had the awesome opportunity to cover the league and be apart of its media team since 2022. I see a lot of familiar names and franchises here in division C and I couldn’t be more excited to see how this season will unfold. Without further ado lets dive into all the action we have already missed and what type of action we can expect in the upcoming weeks.

Jagerbomb put up 60 in week 1
Come back in time with me to week 1 on May 20th where the spring season had barely began where Jagerbomb came out hot and scored 60 on a well known Big Fat Bats team. Jagerbomb who haven’t played a game together since last spring came out firing with Simon Duchesne at the helm. A spectacular way to kick off the season as he threw for 245 yards, 9 touchdowns and only 1 interception. Not only did he have a phenomenal game throwing the ball but he was also out thereon defence making plays as he recorded 1 INT, 2 PD’s and 2 tackles. Certainly a Player of the Week performance. His accuracy and play calling make him one of the top QB’s in the division. He shares the ball on offence and keeps everyone involved, making them a team to look out for on your schedule.
3 teams remain undefeated after 4 weeks
Speed Academy, Les Petites Carottes and Lebrontourage are the only remaining undefeated teams. I can’t say I’m surprised though as each of these teams possess university athletes, college football players and a very capable quarterback. More specifics on each team coming up in our power rankings but each of these teams have the opportunity to win 9 games and stay atop of the standings with only each other to beat. I’m not saying these teams will all go undefeated but it is clear to me that their losses might only come from playing eachtoher.
Has TC (The Commission) found their quarter back?
It has been a revolving door at QB for one of FPF’s longest standing franchises. The commission has been around since the league began tabulating stats in 2009. In the last 3-4 years the commission has failed to find stability in the most important position in our sport, Quarterback. I think this has contributed to the lack of success that the commission has had after only winning 11 games in 2023 and 2024. This begs the question who has Brent Bodkin asked to take the helm this season. That would be a man named Frederic Juneau. Quarterback of last winters Bleue Dry 7.1 where he would take home Quarterback of the year honours. Already his presence has had an impact as TC stands at 2-1. Is Juneau the answer to TC’s QB problems or will he just be another quarterback in the TC graveyard?
Top 8 Power rankings
Here’s what typically influences power rankings:
- Recent Performance: This is a big one! Recent wins, losses, and the margin of victory/defeat all play a role. A team on a winning streak is likely to climb the rankings. Big performances from star players will also weigh heavily on where I think you’re team belongs in the rankings .
- Strength of Schedule: Not all wins are equal. Beating a weak team is less impressive than beating a strong team. Power rankings take this into account, giving more weight to wins against tougher opponents. Beating a team that is in the top 5 will surly move you in the rankings.
- Historical Performances: A team’s past records and playoff performances can also influence their ranking. A team that has consistently been strong is unlikely to plummet in the rankings after a single loss.
- Advanced Statistics: Beyond wins and losses, my rankings will consider advanced metrics that attempt to measure a team’s true underlying strength. This is a power ranking, not a standings page so this can include things like points scored, turnovers committed, punts and extra point conversion attempts to show how well a team is actually playing. Essentially being at the top of the rankings means I believe this is a team that should be unbeatable at that point in time and my favourite for winning the championship.
- LeBrontourage 4-0

My top team at the moment has to be LeBrontourage, with one of the best Braves receivers in Jeremy Murphy, paired with great university athletes like Ahmed Boubacar, Tristan Mancini, and Dante Sparagna, this is the best receiving core in division C. With an experienced and talented Quarterback like Gianni Casati this team in the powerhouse of the division. After 4 solid wins, Im predict this team to go 10-0.
2. Speed Academy 5-0

After a great season last winter in division 4, this team forced to make the jump to division C has been killing it so far. Another team with great football athletes that have played tackle and flag football for a long time. Not only are many of their players individual studs, but many of these players have played together and have more chemistry than many of these teams. It also helps when your QB is one of the best in the division. Emile Plante has played Quarterback from a very young age and has been playing FPF since 2018. He is coming off a superb QBOY year where he threw for 55 touchdowns and over 2300 yards. Speed Academy fell short of a championship but they have come out hungry and don’t see to be slowing down any time soon.
3. Les Petites Carottes 4-0

Quickly becoming a staple franchise of FPF LPC have been on fire ever since they came into the league back in 2022. Last year in division C LPC ended the year 9-1 with the #1 or #2 seed. Unfortunately their season ended in the Semi Finals, but their efforts did not go unnoticed. With the same studs in the line-up like Xavier Brault, Zachary Cloutier and Laurent Beauchamp LPC are set up for another championship run. They do face Speed Academy and LeBrontourage in the upcoming weeks so it will be interesting to see how they match up.
4. Jagerbomb 2-2

A slower 2-2 start to the season but they have been more impressive then their record may show. Only a 4 point loss to Speed Academy and two other convincing wins against good teams, this team just knows how to play flag. I’ve already state it before but Simon Duchesne is a hell of a QB that knows how to run his system. He can throw it all over the field and has a nice frame that rushers can barely get in the way of his passing lanes. Id like to see this team keep winning to get a more respectable record.
5. The Commission 2-1

Not a big sample size here as TC has only played 3 games so far. But in the 3 games they have played I like that I’m seeing. Sam Anastasopoulos is a great addition to this offence as he leads in yards catches and touchdowns so far. This offence might be missing an over the top burner but that might not impact them too negatively as long as Fred Juneau is able to protect the ball. On the defensive side, with a rusher like Zackary Alberts-Gill it isn’t hard to have one of the scariest defences in the division. Lighter matchups await TC in the next few weeks so they will need to pickup as many wins early before they have to test themselves against the divisions best.
6. All-Blacks 2-3

This is a team that I’m not really familiar with but have impressed me in the opening weeks of the season. A 50 point win against Big Fat Bats and only a 2 point loss vs Speed Academy tells me they can put on some impressive performances. Their Quarterback Yannick Bissonnette is a first time FPF player but Im sure he has loads of football experience as he has already thrown for more then 750 yards, 18 touchdowns and has only turned the ball over twice. This team may only be 2-3 at the moment but I wouldn’t be surprised to see this team only have one more loss this season. FPF has somewhat of a learning curve and I expect this team to keep figuring it out and get better as the season progresses.
7. Sugar Daddies 3-1

Many would say that I have Sugar Daddies way to low on this list, and that may very well be true. But apart from their Jagerbomb win in week 3, nothing has impressed me so far. That may not be their fault as you can only beat the teams that are put on your schedule so I won’t fault them for beating lower tier teams early on. Jared Buck is a great QB who really turns the ball over and doesn’t get nervous when the lights get bright. I expect this team to climb the power rankings fast, and their first true test is coming up this week vs LeBrontourage.
8. Coldest 2-3

So I did have to think really hard about which team should enter the last spot of this weeks Power Rankings. Coldest finds themselves here in the last spot as this team possesses too many athletes to leave off this list. With names like Team Canada’s very own Jeanslee Alexis, Samuel Omombo, Kako Omombo and many more this team has got speed and size for days. Sammy needs to keep using his feet to get them out of short yardage situations and needs to keep feeding his athletes and this team will be just fine. I will say that I expected their defence to be their strong point this season and so far it hasn’t as they have already allowed 162 points which puts them in the bottom 3.
