Dipping Our Toes back into the Waters

Welcome back Co-Ed 3! I apologize for the lengthy delay but we’re back and ready to dive deep. I, unfortunately, missed 2 weeks of my favorite sport and am very excited to get back into it this weekend. See you on the field! There have been some shake ups in the positions and with only 2 weeks left in the regular season, we are getting a very clear picture of where teams may lie come postseason. There weren’t very many games played this weekend, and, iIf you’re like me, you’re more focused on stats and the who’s who of the division, so without further ado, let’s explore Co-Ed 3.

THE UNSTOPPABLE THOUGHTS OF A MAD MAN

  • At 7-1, I don’t know if anyone will be able to catch up to HALF N HALF! With games against KANIKULE and MICHAEL SCOTT’S TOTS coming up, 1 more win will guarantee them first place (16pts). Can you say HOLY COWABUNGA, scoring 57 points against LA SECTE 2 weeks ago and a 43-0 game last week… Good luck to anyone who has to face this team in the playoffs.
  • There has been a swap in the Elimination Zone! SCOTT’S TOTS have beaten FAST NOT FURIOUS 3 for the second time. Kenny Boutilier took the lead this time and was able to get a much needed win for the TOTS. I’d imagine KANIKULE will lose to HALF N HALF (essentially making them a 3-5 team), meaning, it truly will be a fight for all 3 teams to stay out of the Elimination Zone.
  • Who the heck is this Kristopher Verreault!? With only 5 games played, he is arguably the best QB in the division, while simultaneously in the running for defensive player of the year. Could it be that we will see a 2 way player of the year award for a QB?! We better see him in Co-Ed 1 or 2 next season; he has been one of the player’s who has benefited from being both amazing and new to the league. Although you could convince me that Ryan Dobbs-Garnett is also a contender for QB of the year due to having the most yards (1278), Kristopher Verreault having the stats and rushing TDs he has, in half the games of most QB’s, is just insane.
  • How the mighty have fallen! I would not have guessed that LA SECTE would take a 4 game losing streak, but that’s where we’re at! Having to face SNEAKY SNAKES and HALF N HALF twice in those 4 weeks really makes me feel as though this is special punishment by the football Gods….. Almost seems unfair. They should be able to close out the season against KANIKULE and BLOCKED PARTY and finish 6-4, a tad worse than the 7-3 I predicted, but still a very dangerous team.
  • It is a pretty close race for Receiver of the year, however, all the contenders belong to FNF3 or HNH. Alexandre Noel has pushed ahead of the group with 10 TDs and 415 Yards, but Gabriel Wiseman is right behind with 9 TDs and 312 Yards. Both having already played 8 games, who will be able to convince their QB for some targets? The yards are close enough that the deciding factor will probably be TDs. I would like to give a shout out to Alex Laroche and Alyson Francillon for their amazing amount of yards this season, 374 and 400 respectively.
  • SNEAKY SNAKES have put themselves in a good place to snag the playoff bye week with 11 pts. PASCARES and LA SECTE will struggle to catch up to them. PASCARES will get their rematch against FNF3. LA SECTE seem to have the better shot due to their 2 games remaining being against KANIKULE and BLOCKED PARTY (a team they’ve already beaten). Either way, this all relies on the SNAKES losing the rest of their games… which I don’t see happening. The race for the bye week continues!
  • It’s a big weekend for KANIKULE and BLOCKED PARTY! Both teams play twice this weekend, once on Saturday and then again sunday. GOOD LUCK! I can’t wait to see what Co-Ed 3 looks like after this week.
  • First week of playoffs is April 2nd. The 4 middle teams better be ready! It’s anyone’s game!

TEAM REVIEWS

KANIKULE:

A new team in the league, KANIKULE have had a great first showing this season. They are currently 3-4 and still have the top 3 teams to play against. They were able to beat BLOCKED PARTY 19-18, but then lost to them the week after. They then had the challenge of beating the top 4 teams in the division. With the very real chance that they could lose out, they will need to pull an impressive upset to stay ahead of FNF and the TOTs! Athena Ryan is a relatively new QB to FPF, having only thrown 1 other season in FPF, but is doing wonderfully at keeping up with the competition! Despite having 12 INTs in 7 games, Athena Ryan has found herself in the top 5 QBs of the division, tied with 14 TDs! This team is full of new players, but that doesn’t mean they lack skill. Beating SNEAKY SNAKES and FNF3 was no small feat, and shows me that they can create an upset when they’re on their A-Game.

Despite only 2 receivers having over 10 receptions, KANIKULE has picked up 695 yards total. Both Lara Uzoka and Maria Manserri have been main targets for this offensive unit, and each have 1 TD. Leading this offense is Evan Gubert and Obed Larya! Together they have 9 TDs of the total 14, and 317 yards combined. When Lara and Maria are not being targeted, these 2 are scoring. Defensively, they have one of the top rushers in the division: Maria Mansseri. They can force a turnover, and have scored 3x pick-6’s! They will need to rely on this defensive unit to keep the divisional juggernauts to low scoring games. Will the 2 weeks off hurt them or give them the rest they may have needed?

Prediction : 3-7

FAST NOT FURIOUS 3:

Things have gotten a lot more dire for FAST NOT FURIOUS 3 since the last time I saw them! A win against BLOCKED PARTY was much needed, but the loss against the SCOTT’S TOTS has put them in the elimination zone against a strong SNEAKY SNAKES and PASCARES. They’ve beaten PASCARES once already, so can hopefully do it again if they want to keep their playoff hopes alive. This team is the offspring of FAST NOT FURIOUS in Co-Ed 1, and they have shown that they are just as dangerous! Ryan Dobbs-Garnett had control of the #1 QB spot in the division for a good while, and for good reason. His 4:2:1 ratio of TD:INT:SACK is phenomenal for the division, all while maintaining the most yards at 1278! With a core receiving team made up of Alex Laroche (Leading the division with 10 TDs), Tony Lalla (5x Championship Winner), and Alexandre Noel (6x All-Star), as long as this team can fight their way into the playoffs, they can manage some upsets.

Where I think they may struggle is when they rely solely on those 3 receivers. Diana-Janes Landry has been able to step up and bring in 99 yards and 2 TDs, but with all their female receivers having under 10 receptions, I think they are starting to struggle against teams that have been able to stop their main receivers. On defense, they struggle to have a consistent showing. Besides Diana-Janes and Maria Xenos, most other players have only 4 games played or under (2 more having 5 GP). They will be able to field enough players for playoffs, but with low attendance, they may not have the chemistry that they would like! 2 big wins would convince me otherwise, and FNF would shoot up in the rankings!

Predictions: 4-6
