Coed 1 Semi Finals Recap

BanaNiceTry 34 – 27 The IG Team
Halftime: 20-21 | Final: 34-27
The IG Team were forced to play with 5 players all game as they were down a female player but none the less they came out flying, putting up 21 points in the first half. BanaNiceTry kept this game closer than it had to be but in the second half, flipped the script to a lockdown defensive effort.
Offensive Stars:
- Jeff Rosenblatt (BanaNiceTry) was surgical, completing 23 of 27 passes for 223 yards and 5 touchdowns with zero turnovers.
- His go-to target? Maya Di Fazio, who was perfect on her targets (7-for-7) and totaled 62 yards and a score.
- Paul Lapierre contributed 2 touchdowns on 5 catches.

Meanwhile, Jeanslee Alexis of The IG Team had a strong all-around showing. He threw for 116 yards and 4 touchdowns, ran for 70 yards on just 4 attempts. That said, the offense sputtered after halftime with just one score.
Defensive Breakdown:
BanaNiceTry’s defense clamped down in the second half, led by Sanders Armand, who recorded 4 tackles and 3 pass deflections, frustrating The IG Team’s receivers down the stretch.
For The IG Team, pressure was scarce and coverage holes were exposed, especially with only 5 players on the field at all times, Rosenblatt also spreading the ball so evenly. Only one sack (Jeanne Gravel) and no interceptions made it too easy for BNT to stay ahead.

The Merge 47 – 42 Dominos
Halftime: 27-24 | Final: 47-42
If you like fireworks, this one delivered — 14 combined touchdowns, zero picks, and two quarterbacks going punch-for-punch in a shootout.
QB Duel:
- Marc-André Reeves (The Merge): 22/29, 178 yards, 7 touchdowns, 0 interceptions. He was smooth and creative, even adding 69 yards on the ground, keeping the defense honest.
- Kevin Wyeth (Dominos): 23/28, 269 yards, 7 touchdowns, 0 interceptions. The veteran was lights-out but just couldn’t connect on the extra-points.
Receiving Clinics:
- AJ Gomes (Dominos) was dominant: 7 catches, 121 yards, and 4 touchdowns. He carved up The Merge secondary all game and demanded double coverage, which never came.
- On the other side, Serge Pilon Jr. (8-8, 81 yards, 2 TDs) and Rémi Légo (7-8, 53 yards, 3 TDs) were unstoppable for The Merge, showcasing sticky hands.

Defensive Effort (or Lack Thereof):
Let’s be real — this was an offensive showcase. Both teams struggled to get off the field, but Geraldine Cabillo-Abante stood out for Dominos with 6 tackles and 2 PDs, showing her value contributing in both coverage and tackling.
The only real difference? The Merge got 4/7 possible extra-points while the Dominos didn’t convert any going 0/7, keeping them chasing until time ran out.
What We Learned:
- The Merge has the offensive depth to beat anyone. With four different players catching touchdowns and no turnovers, they’re proving they can hang in shootouts and win with balance.
