Bombsquad’s Mid-Season Breakdown (Div 1&2)

That’s right everyone. I figured since GM is late every week, I would give all the Div 1 / 2 boys some love with something to read. So here we are, halfway through the season and lots of things happening. You can still expect GM’s article…at some point, so I will not be recapping but instead giving my Random thoughts on where we are for your entertainment purposes.

Countdown to detonation…

Div 1

8. Montreal’s Finest have a +/- of +107 after 5 games and are currently the only undefeated team. Could someone please remind me where Montreal’s Finest stood in the preseason rankings? G.M.???

7. The Rainmakers in the offseason picked up some talented players and now sit in first place in their division with two games in hand. Shane Williams and C.A. Sinotte are proving to be quite the dynamic duo for Ryan Kastner. Great move making these additions. Could this be the Rainmakers season? They are 4-0 since their opening-week loss.

6. The Alkaholics continue to struggle. Standing at 2-3, we know this team is too talented to stay where they are but when will they turn it around? I see a win in their future and then a rematch which I know they can’t wait for. This team may be tied with Terror Squad but they are still very dangerous.

5. Flag Moi L’Sac is a very strong, talented and exciting team. But where was Alex last weekend as they were upset by Terror Squad? Not to worry though, this team will still be near the top and be a force to be dealt with come playoffs as they proved Monday night in the destruction of the Galdiateurs.

4. The Express just seem to get better each week. Chenard is developing into quite the QB. Definitely a much more dangerous team with S.C.C. but will he qualify for the playoffs? I highly doubt it. But this is a team with great defense and experience. It will be interesting to see where they finish.

3. The Maniax shot out of the gates with an amazing, shootout victory over Les Gladiateurs but have lost each game since. Even absorbing a 60 point output from The Express. I am curious to see if they can turn it around in the second half of the season.

2. Terror Squad is coming off a huge upset win over L’Sac. Is this the peak of their season? They have a very difficult road ahead. I wonder if they can turn it around as well. They are in a decent position right now for playoffs. Only time will tell.

1. Les Gladiateurs moved up to Division 1 and I admire the team very much for making the move. They have not won a game yet and their schedule is one of the hardest I have seen in a long time. But the experience they are gaining by facing off against these teams will help them down the road for sure. They are the Gridiron Giants for this season.

Div 2

14. DK is undefeated and even has a game in hand against the D-Boys who many ranked at the top. Rochdi has built an incredible team which many people are saying is unfair but he managed to do it without violating the cap for Div 2 so live with it and find a way to beat them.

13. D-Boys are off to an amazing start in their first turn in Div 2. Exceptional job after moving up to be considered one of the favorites for the season. Their defense is as strong as ever even after losing their rusher and middle man. But the addition of Anthony Comeau, and the play of Antonio Lanni and James Crowe has this team in the end zone often.

12. O.N.S. moves up to Div 2 and loses summer-rental Robbie Robinson, but gain Kevin Wyeth at QB. They are undefeated with a tie which happened due to a very strange anomaly with Wyeth throwing a pick with under 5 plays left. But still, they are a team that has been together for a long time and are looking to make a deep run into the playoffs. Watch out for them.

11. BodyHype is a team that is new to FPF and there is no doubt this team is talented if not inconsistent. They beat up on the Hustlers, get smashed by the D-Boys then defeat the Roadrunners. That has me a little baffled. They only thing I can see is maybe they are starting to get their feet settled into the FPF game and they are building chemistry. More to come from this team.

10. The Roadrunners are the Express part 2. And somehow the rusher for this team is even taller than the rusher for The Express. Where do you find these guys Pat? I mean seriously, are these NBA rejects?? This is a quick team with good defense. Also as mentioned above, Chenard is developing into a very good QB. But can they pull it all together to make a run? Only time will tell.

9. Ice Up Son is a talented team with many Montreal Transit players. They are aggressive and fast. Their defense has the Taylor brothers from MTL’s Finest; Adam Bailey is the scoring machine at this point. This team seems to get better each week. After losing a close one to O.N.S., they came back to lay a beating on the Wolverines. I am not sold yet that this is a finals team but they have all the ingredients.

8. The Wolfpack is once again in the hunt. They lost many key players from previous seasons but have also added some new faces including Felix Prevost from Flag Moi L’Sac and their scoring leader Francis Lapointe. This is a team that historically makes their run in the second half of the season so it will be interesting to see if they can build on this 3-2 record they already have.

7. The Hustlers are basically the Trojans 2.0. With Benny Goodfriend at the helm, we see Carmine Pollice receiving every second pass it seems. This team has been together for a long time and has also brought in close friends to complete the squad. I am not convinced they have all the elements to win a title but every team starts somewhere and there is still time to build on that tie with O.N.S. to establish themselves as serious contenders.

6.Team Padon is basically the Ducks 2.0. This team has a lot of athletic ability. They have a combination of speed and height which makes them dangerous. But they still seem to be missing that key element to bring them to the next level. Not sure what it is but they better figure it out soon.

5. Served With Ice is another team that made the jump up to Div 2 and for that they get the Wiserhood slow clap. They have a couple of wins to grow on and have added some experienced div 2 players to help them compete. Still not convinced they can defeat the big boys but they can now use that last statement as motivation. And since G.M. is on the team, he can point out how foolish I can be.

4. The speedy Top Gunnz are back but unfortunately they are suffering the same pitfalls as previous seasons. This team has had a very tough time putting up points against teams with winning records. They are still a very young squad and you can see they love playing the game so hopefully their passion will convert into wins.

3. The Pantheres are another one of those teams that you do not know what to expect week to week. QB Mike Grilli can be hot or cold and this team loses the close games. There is a lot of experience on this team and when they are on, they are a tough match. I guess they really need to figure out how to be that “HOT” team more often.

2. The Wolverines…I don’t know what to say here. I don’t recognize this team because of their record. They have the same boys but no wins. Is it because the talent level has improved? Have they devolved into a worse team? I wish I knew the answer. I think I need to sit with QB Tony Tabet and get the straight dope because at this point, I have no idea who they are.

1. Goonzsquad is MOMO Nation 2.0 but with the same results. This team is winless. They have a team full of athletes but this also goes to show you that athletic doesn’t always get you good results. This team has 2 games this season where they did not score at all. Fine it was DK and D-Boys but still. An FPF shutout is very rare. I think this team needs to do an outing with the Wolverines. Maybe bowling!! Always my favorite suggestion. Figure it out boys, you have the talent.

BOOM! Like a Wrecking Ball that shattered the career of Miley Cyrus

It is time to welcome back one of my favorite segments, just some observations, some things that might have crossed my mind, a segment I like to call…

RANDOM THOUGHTS

Was Pat Chenard possessed by an angry Peyton Manning after that horrible Super Bowl loss when he threw for 9 TD’s in a game and one incomplete pass?

Why have the Wolverines not gone bowling yet to sort out their 0-5 start?

If a tree falls in the forest, does Carmine Pollice catch a pass? And seriously guys, Carmine has 50 receptions, everyone else on the Hustlers has 38 COMBINED!!! Who do you think you should cover???

Does Kevin Wyeth really play better in his second game, Tony?

When doing the pre-season rankings, what was G.M. drinking while compiling his list and where can I get some because I want to know what color the sky is in his world. I thought absinthe with wormwood was illegal…

Are the Alkaholiks/Expos just playing possum and getting ready to make their move or do they actually get hammered before some of their games….at least 3 of them? I can confirm there was a sighting of the little “R” thingy in an SAQ buying bottles of Jack with a couple of prostitutes.

With a name like BodyHype, were they thinking this was a strong team name meaning.. Okay I don’t know what it means but it always makes me think of Public Enemy…  http://youtu.be/9vQaVIoEjOM

Did Peyton Manning return for the Week 6 Flag Moi L’Sac vs Gladiateurs game and possess another QB?

Why does Moe Khan constantly try to put me in a corner which in turn leads to ridicule and banter?

Why does bacon get so crispy when you over cook it? Almost like a chip.

Speaking of crispy, someone please take the Gladiateurs’ defense off the stove….they’re done.

How come no one seems to cover Rochdi Benabdelkader in Div 1? Does he smell? Is he bribing people? Does he shovel team’s driveways??? Seriously, I need to know.

When will people realize that Alex Nadeau-Piuze is fast and hard to flag?

How does Guillaume Ward decide to try rushing this season in Div 1 and be second in the entire FPF with 13 sacks after 5 games? Monster performer. This guy is a beast.

Where are the sleeves, “SLEEVES”?????????

Can Antonio Lanni get through one game without diving?

Why is Rehan part of the Div 1 / 2 fantasy draft; we are all glad to know you are still alive.

What is a “Padon”?

What type of car do you need to run over J.R. Verger to stop him from catching a jump ball?

How come no one seems to know who Chris Pinsonneault is? You see, for sure you just asked yourself “who the hell is Chris Pinsonneault” which proves my point.

When you do the luge in the Olympics, when people ask you what you do, is your reply “I’m a luger?”

Speaking of Luger’s…..I think I will stop now.

Half way through the season we are,

This is my only article so far,

For week to week, I sit with Moe Khan,

Doing the podcasts found on theunclehood.com

While I joke and poke fun,

And even make fun of some.

I have the greatest respect for all,

From the largest to the very small (Pilon twins).

So the best of luck to Division 1 & 2,

For playoffs will come for a chosen few.

So ball out you all to your very best,

If you wish to eventually take the Championship test.

Thanks to all of you for taking the time to read my ramblings. You can catch me and Moe Khan on www.theunclehood.com Wednesday nights and be sure to read G.M.’s article…whenever it happens to come out. That is it for me here. Until next time, another week has been defused.
