Bombsquad’s Breakdwon (Div A & B) – Week 8

Welcome back. Almost there. The playoff air is palpable. Some things are now decided while others are still up in the air. We had a crazy finish in 1 game and some amazing, high scoring affairs which are never boring. So without further ado, and ranting from yours truly, let us get to it.

Countdown to detonation

5. The Roosters & Donkeys had their hands full with a determined Jonesers squad but squeezed out the win 52-50 in an old fashion shootout. Danny “Scoop” Gentile had a very efficient game with 308 yards passing and 8 TD’s. Matt Kirouac had an amazing night with 4 catches for 4 TD’s and 108 yards receiving. While Sleeves and James Crowe caught the other 4 TD’s. The biggest story is the amazing performances on the Jonesers. While Ryan Leliknowski is a great receiver, he is also a pretty damn good QB as he threw for 307 yards, 8 TD’s and unfortunately 1 INT which cost them. His main target had a massive game: Dave Chitayat had 214 yards on 11 grabs and 5 TD’s. No doubt who the Golden Boy is Div B. I really want to see the Jonesers win a game!!

4. The Rainmakers barely beat the Mercenaries 33-32. As their playoff hopes dwindle Ryan Kastner is still doing what he has to and keep their chances alive. He threw 5 TD’s and spread the ball across the board. Tim Kraemer, Michael Samman and Bobby Mikelberg were all carrying the load. And it was enough on this night….barely. As the Mercs fought hard. Sean Kennedy had a huge game from Di Fazio with 7 catches for 132 yards and 2 TD’s, while Carmine Pollice had 3 TD’s. The Mercs are still unpredictable but they gave the D A Rainmakers a run for their money.

3. In another epic showdown, DA Finest defeat the Alkaholiks 54-46. Both QB’s had almost identical numbers as each threw 7 TD’s although Paul Lapierre had an interception. Paul had a good amount or time to throw as he had 1 of the worst rushers in the history of FPF chasing him. He managed to hit Theo Ojeaha for 3 scores and the Pilon wonder twins for 3 as well. On the other side, DA Finest were very under manned as they had only 6 players. The big story this game was Pat Jerome who had 3 TD’s on 110 yards receiving. Kevin Wyeth had another 7 TD performance and even ran for 1. These teams face off again in 2 weeks.

2. In another spectacular FPF finish, the Maniax defeat AAA 43-40. Francois Lebeau did not have a great day passing but he did run for 2 scores. Rapha Beladjat had an epic game with 21-29 for 269 yards and 7 TD’s. 5 of those TD’s went to the big man himself, JR Verger, who had 10 grabs for 185 yards. The most impressive TD was his last. AAA scored with 2 plays to take the lead leaving the Maniax 1 play. Rapha heaved the ball high in the air but surprisingly this was not a jump ball. Verger only had to stand and catch the ball in his stomach as AAA somehow forgot how to cover a Hail Mary!! Big finish and great game.

1. Daron World Wide dispensed with the Triple Sixers 33-6. QB Karim Chaoual was absent once again leaving Alex Lessard to throw the rock, this was not his best outing. He had 1 TD and 1 INT. No real stats to speak of. While Alex Lever continued his successful campaign this week with a 5 TD performance, 4 of which were to Jordan McLaren who had 72 yards. DWW got the job and the Sixers continue to struggle.

BOOM, like the playoff hopes of the Sixers if this trend continues.

Now for the individual awards.

D A
My Golden Boy has to be Pat Jerome with his 110 yards and 3 TD’s against a solid Alks defense. Great game, Pat.

There wasn’t much defense last week but my SHOWSTOPPA is Kishon Thompson who showed up at the field expecting not to play due to injury and still pulled out an INT and 5 tackles. Gutsy performance.

D B

My Golden Boy this week is JR Verger who had a monster game and won the game for his team. The man is a beast. 185 yards and 5 TD’s. Dave Chitayat gets a special mention.

My SHOWSTOPPA this week is the entire Daron World Wide team for holding their opponents to 6 points. Great team effort boys.

Well, the playoff situation is a little more clear. The Alkaholiks and DA Finest will meet for the championship and supremacy of Div A this spring. The Rainmakers have been mathematically eliminated.

In Div B, well R & D now sit alone atop the leaderboard and AAA sit in 2nd. If they are not careful, they can drop even further. The only real thing up in the air is who will be the last playoff team. Someone better win in week 10.

Guess maybe it is that time again. Another installment of the things that plague my mind. That’s right….

Bombsquad’s Random thoughts

Does Marco Masciotra have 20 different shirts missing sleeves or were they purchased like that? And where do you buy just sleeves, “Sleeves”? Impressive.

How many football games will Matt Kirouac miss to play soccer and when will someone return his testicles to him so I can stop calling him the “Spider”?

Is it really that hard to find out what M. Soutiere’s first name is or is he a character in James Bond?

Has anyone noticed that the Triple Sixers have not passed 100 points scored yet????? Can you imagine if they finish the season below 100?

How do you give up a Hail Mary to JR Verger when everyone and his sister knows that is exactly where the ball is going 100%?

The r thingy was just recently released on bail for being caught with 3 transvestites, 2 hookers and a bag of squirrels. The charges are pending once authorities can decide what the squirrels were for and what the charge should be.

Has anyone noticed that Scoop Gentile has jumped into 2nd place amongst QB’s in TD’s?

JR Verger is 25 yards behind Carmine Pollice with 20 less catches and 6 more TD’s. Receiver of the Year possibly?

What’s the deal with turkey bacon and why is it called bacon anyways? Is there a bacon cut?

Why is it that every time I write DWW I think of the kid’s show ‘Arthur’?

When is Ryan Kastner going to think of another type of magical way to enter my car?

Why does Daron’s hair make me think of Chia pets?

Previews for the coming week? Sure.

DA Finest take on the Rainmakers in a game that doesn’t mean squirt. Does that mean these guys will take it easy on each other? Nope. This will be another memorable battle. How many players will the Finest have out with all the injuries to their squad? Regardless, Kastner and company play with class and will give it their all to win this game. Go by Wednesday to see.

The Roosters & Donkeys face Daron World Wide. This is an interesting game. The first of two matchups these teams have against each other in the final 2 weeks of the season. Curious scheduling but why not. Both teams are playing great football but R & D just seem to have it all going on right now. I can’t pick against them at this point. R & D get the W.

The Alkaholiks face the Jonesers which is very unfortunate for the Jonesers. This is not a good time for the squad as they fight for the last playoff spot. The Alks just have a really strong team and I don’t think the Jonesers will be able to take down the powerhouse A squad. Alks win.

The Maniax face the Mercenaries. These teams know each other well as some of the Maniax used to be Mercs. Godfrey Abu knows this team. But the Mercs are a savvy veteran squad who know what it takes to win. But with that being said, the Maniax are on a roll. I think with their size, that roll will continue and they will inch out the Mercs in another nail biter!

Finally the Triple Sixers take on AAA. AAA is definitely not happy with last week’s result that toppled them from first. The Sixers are a team barely keeping it together. A very bad matchup. AAA will have no mercy against the Sixers and I think they will win big in this one.  Take AAA which I am sure has the name Alex in the their moniker.

Only 2 weeks left,

Until the season is done.

Time will tell,

Who has lost and who has won.

But for those playoff bound,

The results matter not.

For it is the title awaits,

The reason a season is fought.

That is it for this week’s Breakdown. You guys should know by now that you can email me at [email protected] or tweet me @DonaldWShepherd with your own random thoughts and thoughts about this summer’s TV lineup. But until next time, another week has been defused.
