Bombsquad’s Breakdwon (Div A & B) – Week 12

Welcome to another edition of Bombsquad’s Breakdown. The finals are officially set and we are ready to roll. Neither game this past week was close so not much drama. But let us take a look at the action anyways. To the breakdown!!!

Countdown to detonation

2. Daron World Wide exacts revenge on AAA and destroys them 60-25. At least we know who wanted it more! wow DWW must have really hated losing to AAA twice. Also, always go with your first instinct. Last week when writing my article, I had chosen DWW to win the game and then erased it. I honestly thought this game would be too close to call but DWW proved me wrong in a big way as Alex Lever threw 9 TD’s and 316 yards in what must have been his best performance ever at the QB position in arguably his biggest game. The Bishara brothers and the beast in the middle, Anthony Comeau, all scored 3 times apiece as AAA simply could not find a way to stop the Lever-led offense on this day. On defense they definitely got the job done as well. They gave up 251 yards in the air but that only translated to 4 scores. They got the stops when it mattered most and Comeau even picked off AAA QB Francois Lebeau. AAA was just not on their game this week; too many incompletions and missed opportunities. Also, I am sure they were not exactly happy to lose to one of their own. I wonder who they will be cheering for, DWW or the other team in the finals which is…

1. The Roosters & Donkeys who defeated the Maniax 48-24. It basically boiled down to what I had mentioned last week. The R&D defense was too much for the Maniax. Rapha Beladjat was 12-22 for 171 yards, 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. JR Verger only had 3 grabs and was as much a non-factor as he could be. Meanwhile, the Roosters & Donkeys had a great game on offense. All the talk about Gentile choking might have been a week too early… or wrong!!! Scoop threw 7 TD’s and 2 to his favorite target Marco “Sleeves” Masciotra who also had a pick on defence and did a great job covering the aforementioned Verger. The non-defensive player of the season Antonio Lanni had 1 interception and 2 passes defended which is even more amusing when you see that the defender of the season actually was the offensive scorer amongst the brothers, as Giovanni hit the end zone on 2 separate occasions.

Moving forward, we have rematches from the last week of the season, as the Roosters & Donkeys will meet Daron World Wide for all the marbles, in addition to the Div A showdown we’ve all been waiting for.

BOOM!!! Like the hopes and dreams of all the other FPF teams who are eliminated.

So I guess that leaves us with the final matchups in both divisions. So let us preview the finals and even make a pick in one instance.

The first place Roosters & Donkeys face one of the teams that has defeated them this past season in Daron World Wide. DWW won 32-20 in week 10. Managing to hold this offence to 20 points is extremely impressive. It may have been the last game of the season and it meant nothing to R&D in the standings, but I am sure they definitely did not want to end the regular season on a losing note. The Roosters have had an amazing season. Daron World Wide has also had a good season but more importantly it really seems as if they have hit full stride coming down to the wire and are playing their best football. This really is going to be an incredible game. The R&D defense has played amazingly all season and the DWW offense scored 60 points last week!! The DWW defense has played great as of late, holding R&D to 20 points as mentioned above and then hold the second best team in Div B, AAA to 25 points this past weekend…which is also mentioned above, just further up.

This is a very hard game to choose the winner. But I am going to choose the upset. I think DWW is playing awesome football right now; I know the R&D defense can definitely get a stop or two but the DWW defense is also up to the task of a few stops. It will be close, but I am saying that Daron World Wide will walk away Div B champs. Sorry Scoop…your chance to prove me wrong.

DA Finest face the Alkaholiks for the third time this season. DA Finest have won both matchups. Again, it has been a running theme, it is very difficult to defeat a team 3 times in a season. And so far in these playoffs, twice teams have faced an opponent they had defeated earlier twice and twice these teams have fallen. This trend heavily favors the Alks. It is very possible this could be the end of the line for DA Finest. It has to happen eventually and this is a very strong team they are facing. Combine that with the 3 weeks off before the finals and this very well could be the end of the run. But on the other side of the coin, DA Finest have been here before. They have battled out of tough holes and come back against amazing odds. The core is still there and the talent cannot be denied. The offense scores…..often. In the entire FPF this past season, no team scored 400 points on the year…..except DA Finest who scored 467. But the Alkaholiks have the best defense in Div A&B giving up only 256 points. And this is a team with a ton of talent. They have speed at every corner and reliable receivers. Paul Lapierre has truly evolved as a QB. Is this the year they take the crown? It is possible. But you will all have to stop by Brossard this Sunday at 10pm to find out. This will definitely be a shootout. You don’t want to miss this game.

Finest & Alkaholiks,

Roosters & Darons.

The Finals are here,

Who’s up to the challenge?

No more talking or chirping,

For game time has come.

See who will be left standing,

Once Sunday evening is done.

That is it for me here. You can email me at [email protected] or tweet me @DonaldWShepherd with your own predictions on how Sunday will unfold. But until next time, another week has been defused.
