As the dust settles on yet another exhilarating season, teams across the league gear up for the ultimate showdown during the last week of the regular season. With just four games left on the schedule, the stakes have never been higher, and the intensity on the field reaches its peak. Every yard, every pass, and every touchdown carries tremendous significance as teams jostle for playoff spots, better seeding and ultimately, team chemistry for their best shot at championship glory. To the teams that have officially been eliminated, we thank you for your hard work and participation and look forward to seeing you again next season.

My Season Award predictions and actual results!

QB of the Year:

Prediction: Frederic Paquette- Perrault:  Bessette et Ses Potes

While Frederic has had a great season throwing for 1600 yards 41 Touchdowns and only 2 INT’s in 9 games, I don’t think he has produced enough be crowned Div C’ QB of the Year. Keeping in mind he still has one game left to play today, Frederic lands #6 in passing touchdowns and #13 in passing yards. He has led his team to a great season and 6-3 with a chance to finish 7-3 and in the top 5 of the standings. Unfortunately unless his 10th game this season is a stellar 8 TD 250 yard performance I don’t think he makes a good enough case for QB1 this season. Fred is still a fantastic player who is able to fit the ball into tight windows, and make accurate throws on the run. His large stature make almost every rusher unable to pressure him and disrupt passing lanes. Watch for Bessette et Ses Potes to make a nice run in these playoffs due to his play. I do believe he is a QB that will keep developing in this league and we will only see him get better!

My choice for QBOY after 10 weeks: Jules Regimbald: Dime and Bougie

In the realm of Division C, one name stands out above the rest: Jules Regimbald, the mastermind behind Dime and Bougie’s extraordinary season. With a stellar performance week after week, Regimbald has firmly established himself as the front-runner for Division C’s coveted QB of the Year award. Leading his team to an outstanding 9-1 record and the number one seed, Regimbald’s impact on the field has been nothing short of remarkable. A closer look at Regimbald’s season stats reveal the true extent of his dominance. He has thrown for an impressive 1,850 yards, showcasing his exceptional arm strength and accuracy. However, what sets him apart is his incredible touchdown-to-interception ratio. With a staggering 49 touchdowns and a mere four interceptions, Regimbald’s decision-making and ability to protect the ball have been crucial in his team’s success. One cannot discuss Jules’s achievements without acknowledging his exceptional completion percentage of 76%. This league-leading stat highlights his remarkable ability to find open receivers and deliver pinpoint accurate throws. Whether it’s short, intermediate, or deep passes, Regimbald’s arm talent and precise throws have consistently found their mark, earning him the admiration of teammates and opponents alike. Undoubtedly, his success is also indebted to his exceptional receiving corps. With a talented group of playmakers at his disposal, he has benefited from their skills and chemistry, allowing him to orchestrate a dynamic and high-powered offense. However, it is Regimbald’s ability to capitalize on these weapons that truly sets him apart. His vision, anticipation, and timing enable him to exploit defensive weaknesses and create explosive plays downfield. Physically, Regimbald possesses the ideal attributes for a dominant quarterback in this league. Standing tall, he commands the field with confidence, surveying the defense and making split-second decisions. His impressive speed adds an extra dimension to his game, allowing him to extend plays and escape pressure when necessary. Combined with his powerful arm, Regimbald is a force to be reckoned with, striking fear into opposing defences. As Division C basks in the brilliance of Jules Regimbald’s performance this season, it is clear that his impact extends far beyond individual statistics. Leading his team to the top seed and amassing an arsenal of touchdowns, Regimbald has become the driving force behind Dime and Bougie’s success. His skill set, composure, and leadership qualities make him a formidable competitor, and his future in this league shines bright with promise. He is clearly my pick for this season QBOY.

WR of the Year

Prediction: Jordan Panetta- Game Changers

After a hand injury kept Jordan Panetta sidelined for half of the season, his WROY aspirations disappeared quickly. Jordan started the season at a very fast pace scoring 7 TD’s and over 400 yards in the first few weeks of the season. Unfortunately Panetta did not have the chance to replicate his performances on the back end of the season. His teammate Benoit Gangnon-Brousseau had picked up the offensive load as he ended the season with 500 yards and 14 touchdowns. Im not sure if Panetta would have put up the best WR stats this season if he had stayed healthy but with Game changers success this season and with the confidence of his quarterback, I believe Jordan would have been a top 5 receiver at season end.

My choice for WROY after 10 weeks: Nick Groppini: Repeat offenders

Like I mentioned last week Nick Groppini has been the best WR in Div C this season. You can make a case that Ryan McGrath of TOPSZN has had a similar year statistically especially with one game left and scoring 18 TD’s. But Nick Groppini has consistently found the endzone and been the most threatening WR this season. In 9 games Groppini has amassed 665 yards and 20 TD’s. Unless Ryan McGrath has a wild final game of the season I think Groppini will have a more impressive season. With his height and speed, not many DB’s can cover him one on one. Recently Groppini has been facing double teams and bracket coverages to attempt to slow him down and get his QB looking away from him. Nick’s big play ability makes him a threat to burn you deep with speed or crisp routes. Thats why he is my pick for WROY for Div C.

DPOY

My prediction: Arthur Doyon- Dime and Bougie

After a wild 3 interceptions in the first 3 weeks of the season I had no choice but to select Arthur Doyon as the front runner for DPOY.  Playing on arguably the best defence in Div C, Doyon was leading the league in INT’s as his speed and man to man coverage skills and top tier. I might have jinxed him as he did not record another INT for the rest of the season. Dime and Bouge still had a great season and still has a top 3 defence in the division but Arthur did not grab enough INT’s to set him apart from the pack this year.

My choice for DPOY after 10 weeks: Vincent Benjamin: Kiss My Inlaws

Vincent Benjamin, a defensive back extraordinaire, who has dominated the field with his exceptional instincts and unwavering determination. In just nine games, Benjamin has etched his name in the league leaders, establishing himself as the premier playmaker in this division. A closer look at Benjamin’s statistics reveals his extraordinary impact on the defensive side of the game. With an astounding seven interceptions, he stands head and shoulders above all other defenders, solidifying his position as the league’s best in picking off opposing quarterbacks. Benjamin’s uncanny ability to anticipate throws, read quarterbacks, and make timely breaks on the ball has left offenses frustrated and searching for answers. But Benjamin’s impact extends beyond interceptions alone. He has also contributed six pass deflections, showcasing his exceptional skill in disrupting opposing passing plays. His timing, awareness, and technique allow him to stay hip to hip with receivers, limiting their opportunities and making every catch a challenge. Quarterbacks have quickly learned that targeting Benjamin comes with its own set of risks. However, Benjamin’s true masterpiece of the season came in the form of a pick-six, adding an electrifying moment to his already impressive stat-line. Displaying his speed, agility, and playmaking ability, he has the ability to intercepted a pass and seamlessly transition into an offensive weapon, taking it to the house for a touchdown. This exceptional feat not only solidified Benjamin’s reputation as a game-changer but also ignited his team with excitement and momentum. My prediction is he will be crowned Div C’s DPOY.

2-Way player of the year

My predictions: Quaysie Gordon-Maule: Sharks

This one is tough to evaluate as Quaysie had a great season on both sides of the ball. Although, I do think he is missing a INT or 2 to really solidify his standing as this years best two way player. A great offensive season for Quaysie as he hauled in 575 yards and 14 TD’s. On the other side of the ball he snagged 3 INT’s and took back 2 of them for TD’s. Really impressive as he is one of the best 8 WR’s this year. His speed also makes him a threat to score every time he gets an INT. His team is also one of the 3 best teams in the division ending their season 7-3.

My choice for 2-WAY after 10 weeks: Felix Boutet: Dime and Bougie

Felix Boutet, the epitome of a two-way playmaker who has left an incredible mark on the league this season. As a member of the dominant Dime and Bougie squad, Boutet has showcased his remarkable talent both on offense and defense, solidifying his status as the ultimate two-way player of the year. Boutet’s impact on the offensive side of the ball cannot be overstated. As a wide receiver, he has dazzled onlookers and confused defences with his exceptional route-running, reliable hands, and explosive playmaking ability. Throughout the season, Boutet has amassed an impressive 600 receiving yards, becoming a reliable target for his quarterback in crucial situations. His knack for finding the end zone has been evident, as he has accumulated an impressive 18 touchdowns, leaving opposing defenders grasping for answers. However, Boutet’s presence extends well beyond his offensive contributions. As a defender, he has been an unstoppable force, wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks and disrupting offensive game plans. Leading the league with an astounding 15 sacks, Boutet’s speed, agility, and relentless pursuit have made him a nightmare for opposing Quarterbakcs. His ability to generate pressure and sack quarterbacks in the backfield has been unmatched. When considering the overall impact of Felix Boutet, it becomes clear that he is a rare talent who has excelled on both offense and defense. His electrifying performances have made him a force to be reckoned with, leaving opponents in awe and teammates inspired. Whether making acrobatic catches, reaching the end zone, sacking quarterbacks, or deflecting passes, Boutet’s presence on the field has been a game-changer for his team. He is my choice for 2-way player of the year for Div C.

Matchup of the week

Prediction Record: 5-2

Dirty Birds (5-4) Vs. Junkyard Dogs (3-6)

In a high-stakes battle, Dirty Birds and Junkyard Dogs are set to face off in a crucial Week 11 showdown. With playoff hopes on the line, both teams enter the contest with a sense of urgency, for different reasons. The Junkyard Dogs find themselves in dire need of a victory to secure the last playoff spot, while the Dirty Birds aim to solidify their position and secure the best possible seed heading into the postseason. Dirty Birds come into this game riding a wave of confidence,  riding high on a string of impressive victories. Their recent win streak has injected them with renewed vigour and a hunger for one final regular season W. Led by their quarterback, Lonnie Johnson, the Dirty Birds’ offense has been firing on all cylinders, and Johnson himself has a chance to reach a season milestone: surpassing 30 touchdowns on the season. A strong performance from Johnson could be the catalyst for his team’s success, as they aim to notch their sixth win of the season. On the other side of the field, the Junkyard Dogs find themselves in a precarious position. A heartbreaking one-point loss to TOPSZN in Week 9 followed by another defeat in Week 10 has placed them in a must-win scenario in the season’s final week. The Junkyard Dogs, a seasoned and experienced team, have battled hard throughout the season, but have lacked a standout game-changer to consistently make big plays. However, they understand that a victory against the Dirty Birds would be enough to secure their playoff aspirations. One aspect that works in favour of the Junkyard Dogs is the fact that they did not face two other teams in contention for the final playoff spot, 4th & Shlong and the trapstars. Currently holding a 60-point advantage in points against compared to those teams, the Junkyard Dogs know that a win in this critical matchup could tip the scales in their favour and allow them to sneak into the playoffs.

As the two teams take the field, the atmosphere will be electric with the weight of the playoff implications hanging in the balance. The Dirty Birds, driven by their recent success, will look to capitalize on their momentum and secure a favourable bye week postseason seeding. However, the Junkyard Dogs, fuelled by their desperation and the opportunity to prove their worth, will leave no stone unturned in their quest for victory. With the playoffs at stake, expect both teams to leave everything on the field, pushing their physical and mental limits to secure the win. The Dirty Birds will rely on Lonnie Johnson’s arm to orchestrate their offense and create scoring opportunities, while the Junkyard Dogs will lean on their collective experience and tenacity to overcome their offensive challenges.

Junkyard Dogs keys to victory today are simply interceptions and converts. I don’t see a large separation between these two teams so getting any turnovers will absolutely turn the tide of this one. I also predict that these teams will score a similar amount of touchdowns so getting as many points on converts will be crucial to their success. Im not sure if Junkyard Dogs have the athletes to cause turnovers and consistently beat Dirty birds DB’s in the red zone but thats who i’m betting on today. Give me Junkyard Dogs 36-34.
