A look ahead at Week 11

Last week is in the books and Week 11 is setting up to be pretty amazing.

I’ve been toying around the idea of the playoff scenarios in my head this past week and I couldn’t figure out who would end up in and out. So many possible scenarios, so many plausible ones. I was starting to grow nervous, not only for my own team’s sake but for others I’ve seen play for the past 10 weeks. It felt like going on a first date again; the outcome is completely unknown. Will she be hideous ? Will she laugh at my dumb jokes ? Will I need condoms ? So many unanswered questions.

After a while, I’ve figured there’s no reason to be nervous about D4, it’ll all work out in the end the way it’s supposed to; Football gives and takes in equal parts, it’s only a matter of time.

This week, I’ll look into the possible power moves the division could face in the next few days and how things will turn out. I break down every possible scenario for Week 12’s matchups and I also predict the one I foresee happening; it’s worth the read.

Anyways,

Week 11

So many good games on the docket this week. I’ll preview a few lower, as I usually do, but here’s a few ideas I’ve had going into this article :

  • Eagle keeps blaming others for his own mistakes.
  • ZOO clinched last week due to others’ results more than their own win.
  • Crisp could fall to 7th seed; that’s a serious blow.
  • Game Changers took down Maloudes in a defensive fashion; what does this mean for both teams ? Is both offenses really struggling or are they just THAT good at Defense ?
  • TrapStars were an early favorite and now they’re 13th They could really fall out.
  • Punt Returners are still spiraling and they need to pick it up before it’s too late. I really like the team as a whole, but they aren’t performing as well as they could.
  • I’m straight up impressed.
  • Will Frederic Viens maintain a 80+% pass completion throughout the whole season ? I guess he’s a steal at 77 rating.
  • Will I ever have a perfect prediction week ? It’s tough with 19 teams, you know.
  • GM’s face eating that burger at the end of the D3 Podcast was gold.
  • There are too many points in this segment.
  • I really need to stop.

Playoff Details

This week, I plan on doing things differently. Rather than going after every single team and letting them what’s what, I’ll run down the possible playoffs scenarios for every team that hasn’t clinched and the possible matchups we’re looking at for Week 12’s games.

Conference A

  • Team Ethnik : A win has them clinched. A loss from either Les Duck Dynasty or TrapStars would also have them clinch regardless of their game.
  • Les Duck Dynasty : A win has them clinched. A loss from TrapStars assures them a spot as well.
  • TrapStars : They need to win to make it in. Even with a win, they need either Les Duck Dynasty or Team Ethnik to lose to secure a spot.

Most likely to happen : Unless Les Duck Dynasty upsets 69ers, TrapStars will take the 11th seed above Team Ethnik at 12th.

Conference B

  • Show me your TDs : Win and you’re in. With a loss, they need either Lobster Dinner, Longhorns or A-Squad to lose their game to remain in the race.
  • Dragons : They clinch with a win. With a loss, they’ll need either Lobster Dinner, A-Squad or Longhorns to lose their game.
  • Lobster Dinner : They clinch a spot with a win. With a loss, they need 2 of the following teams to lose their game : A-Squad/Bruthers/Longhorns.
  • A-Squad : They clinch with a win. With a loss, they need Longhorns and Bruthers to lose to remain 12th
  • Longhorns : They need a win otherwise they are out. Even with the win, they will also need one of the following to lose their game : Dragons/A-Squad/Lobster Dinner
  • Bruthers : They need a win otherwise they are out. Even with the win, they will also need two of the following to lose their game : Lobster Dinner/A-Squad/Longhorns.

Most likely to happen : Bruthers will win, but will climb only to 13th seed with Lobster Dinner at 14th. SMYTDs will get the 8th seed, Mustangs at 9th, A-Squad at 10th, Longhorns at 11th and Dragons at 12th.

Previews

  • In this last week of the regular season, this is truly a Do or Die for Bruthers facing off Dragons in the week’s opener. Bruthers have had serious ups and even worst downs this season. Starting off 3-0 beating off good opponents, we foresaw Bruthers being “That Team” this season, but they’ve been spiraling and now they are on the outside looking in with a tough spot to be in. With a loss, they are eliminated from playoff contention. With a win, they’ll need a little bit of luck from the Lady herself. Facing off against a Dragons’ team that is fighting to secure a spot and better seeding, this won’t be the easiest matchup of their schedule nor the toughest. It’ll all come down on which Bruthers team show up on Saturday.

  • Technically still on the bubble, Show me your TDs really need this win to secure their spot and proper seeding going into the playoffs. Facing off a spiraling Affreux team, SMYTDs are definitely the favorite going in, but an upset isn’t impossible. Addona hasn’t been playing great and his offense is far from perfect. This is the kind of game they need before the playoffs; sometimes to set the clock straight and move forward with momemtum. Facing off a strong and known defense in the lower division, this won’t be a cake walk and this could be a serious trap for SMYTDs if Les Affreux show up to ball one last time; which I expect them to. Could we have an upset and see SMYTDs fall out or end in a low seed? Possibly.

  • Longhorns shoke the world (Okay, FPF Nation) last week by taking down Grip n Rip and keeping their playoff hopes alive. They’ve been playing fantastic football and it’s been paying dividends as of late. It’s a bit late to turn on the engine, but it’s not too late. With a strong divisional record, Longhorns could have their ticket with a win Saturday night. Eskimo Brothers are badly injured and already eliminated and I do not know what kind of Eskimo Brothers’ team will show up to play ball. Longhorns are favored in this matchup, but they could end up sitting at home next week if they aren’t careful. This is the kind of game that could really go both ways and it’s one of the reasons why it’s one of my favorites. I’m looking forward to who shows up for both teams and how hard they are ready to do at it one last time this season!

  • Sandlot Saints should still be alive right now, but Tim Kraemer missed one too many games and they are sitting out with this being the final game of their season. That being said, does this mean the Saints are throwing in the towel ? I doubt it. They’ll come in with one last shot at pleasure and they will take everything their opponents’ allow them to take home with; which could end up in a W if Lobster Dinner isn’t careful enough. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Sandlot Saints has a vicious defense and Vincent Alessandrini is a special talent. Don’t take them lightly if you see Kraemer lining up at pivot comes week 11. Lobster Dinner could fall out of playoff contention with a loss.

  • Two and a half Dans, aka The Infamous Dans, are taking on Backyard Bullies this week in what could most likely end up being a playoff game around Week 13. I’m excited for this matchup. As described in the podcast (Nation of Domination with Moe Khan and GM Kolethras), both QBs are similar style of play and their offense work in similar patterns. No one is like the Dans, but Backyard Bullies would be the closest comparison. The Dans are on a roll, but the Bullies really need this one to grab their bye-week and get a good seeding going into the playoffs for favorable matchups. It’ll come down to the defenses to make plays and allow their offense an extra shot at the endzone and I foresee Dans’ defense to be the one making it happen for their quarterback late in the game.

  • A-Squad are facing off against a tougher opponent than we’d thought in a must-win game. With Longhorns are the doorstep, A-Squad can’t allow a loss this week. Whisperers have been playing good as of late and they’ve really shocked many with a tie over Ghosts. Yan Fortin is playing good football and his receivers are finally catching the damn football. The offense is rolling, but I’m not sure if they can make the necessary defensive stops to put an end to A-Squad’s season this week. A-Squad is extremely talented, but they’ve had so many heartbreaks, I’m not sure they can really pull it together in the playoffs. Prove me wrong, go out there, pull it together in week 11 and come in next week with the momemtum you need to make a deep run because the talent is there for it. Prove me wrong.

  • Two of the best teams in Conference B, heck D4, are facing off in an epic fashion before the playoffs. This game is relatively meaningless for seeding as it’ll remain the same regardless of outcome, but it’s a serious playoff preview and a nice practice / learning curve for both teams. Shamrocks’ offense is something special and it’s something Game Changers haven’t experienced yet whereas Shamrocks have the experience advantage on Game Changers. I think Shamrocks might be “too much to handle” for GC in this matchup, but seeing how they square off now, if they face again the playoffs, with the baggage both teams will bring in, the advantage Shamrocks yield coming in this game could be no more in the following few weeks.

  • This game is all kind of exciting; Les Duck Dynasty vs 69ers. First off, the two teams face off extremely well. Both teams rely heavily on the deep ball and have the athletes to shut each other out. The two rosters are deep, talented and have the necessary to make a deep run in the playoffs, but a lot relies upon their ability to show up when it matters the most. 69ers proved they can, but will LDD do the same ? With a must-win over a strong contender, LDD need to bring everything they’ve got this week and I’m pretty sure they will. I’ve foreseen LDD going 5-5 at the end of the season to punch their ticket in and 69ers is the last step. I see the upset happening with week, but can they repeat in the following week if they square off again with a lot more on the line ?

Due to the tie between Ghosts and Whisperers, I end up at 14 / 19 which is still a pretty good average considering. The final week is upon us and I strive to do better and better. Here’s the future !
