A 35+ Football Story – Week 6

35+ FPF/KTFL Week 6 Article

Ring the bell, it’s week 6, with 4 team divisions, that means this is the final matchups in the 2nd round.  For KTFL Division with only  8 games , this is the final match ups between these teams during the regular season. Legends division plays 10 so they will meet again 1 more time during the regular season.

Superbowl, who cares.  Hurts looked unstoppable early, he’s a beast. Saban benching him worked out fine for everyone.

Mahomes is at the top of his game, but his wife and brother are pond scum. He needs to cut them loose.

Andy Reid is the king and deserves to eat all the taco’s he wants.

Travis Kelce is trash.  Classless. His postgame interview and parade banter shows how low brow he is. Lovely example for kids.  I know he’s reading this article so he’s very hurt by my words but trash is trash. I hope he stubs his toe really bad one day.

Greg Olsen, where did you get that hair from? Did you just sit down in the chair and say gimme the Trump?

Michael Keaton’s Batman return was the best part of the Superbowl.  That and Rihanna’s strut.

Don’t forget even though the NFL is over, we get the return of the Rock’s version of the XFL this weekend, I’m sure that will go smashingly well and maybe even complete the season this time.  3rd time probably won’t be the charm for this dead horse of a concept.  He Hate Me and He cancel me again most likely. The original XFL was great when they made 2 players fight for the ball in the career ending “go get it” to decide who had choice. They actually decided a coin flip was too boring and made players cripple each other for no reason.

Alouettes come on man.  Get your sh*t together.   Hard to get back to the top when you’ve had more QB’s, Coaches, GM’s, Owner’s than first downs in the past 10+ years. Fajardo better be solid. Cause Jason Maas ain’t the coaching saviour this team needs.

Weather Check – 6 degrees on Feb 15th means parking lot beverages were on tap.   In the long range, looks like this is the last of the February thaw for a while.

Crazy week in 35+ as defences across the board were clearly still in the loving mood and gave up tons of points, lowest points against was 33 and 2 teams put up 50+ points.

Let’s dive into the Post V-day 2nd round matchup action where we all try to sweat off the Chocolate pounds.

Legends Division

Monster 42 – Rainmakers 39

It’s another close loss for Rainmakers who were again driving for the win on the last drive, but come up just short again. Both QB’s were on fire with 6 TD’s but the game came down to converts where Monster out converted Rainmakers 6-3. Andrew Blevings leading the way for Monster with 6 catches and 2 scores, while Rainmakers Andrew Carruthers after probably his worst offence performance ever last week comes smashing back with only 4 catches but turns them into 3 scores.  Kerwin Clarke starts to make an impact as well with 4 receptions and a TD.  Tony Lalla is the lone offence player without a TD for Monster but he comes up big with a single and 2 point conversion in what turns out to be the difference maker in the game.

Required Reading : The Rainmaker by John Grisham is probably my favourite book by him, if you never read it, get on it.

Key Stats – Carruthers with 3 TD’s on 4 catches, Monster’s 6 pts on conversions and Bleving’s pre-game beltches which shook the rafters.

Pacemakers 38  – Gladiateurs 38

Kissing your sister time here, as Pacemakers squander a solid 24-13 halftime lead as the Gladiateurs come back to tie the game in the 2nd half.  Shane Wiiliams has a monster 2 way day with only 4 catches but they were all quality as he turns them into 3 touché’s and stretches the field for 103 yards while also punching in a pick six on defence. Les Alex’s have big nights on offence with 8 catches/1TD for Moreau and 6 catches/2TD for Lever. Tie’s aren’t fun for anyone but lot’s of action here as the teams combine for 12 touchdown’s including 2 pick 6’s so if you were watching on the 35+ livestream, you saw an action packed game.

Required Reading : While there was no winner here, The Winner by David Baldacci is a great read if you need a book to get you through the down times when you don’t have my thrilling articles to read.

Key Stats –  Brian Tock’s 9 tackles, Pacemaker’s Defence with 3 INT’s, Shane Williams 3 Offensive TD’s and a pick 6

KTFL Draft Division

Paramount 51 – JMJ 36

Usually 36 points is enough to be close, but not on this day, as the Paramount offence explodes for 51 points. Chris OlsON doesn’t go for above average yards but turns 14 completions into 7 TD’s. That’s a sweet ratio.  He’s helped out by the Teal defence with 3 INT’s giving him some short fields, but you still gotta finish the job which is what he did. 7 Receivers with catches and Binns following his Qb’s ratio getting 3 TD’s on 6 Catches. Binns also picks off his Pacemakers QB’s for a pick six. GM and Jordan Rossie have strong defensive days with 5 tackles each but it’s not enough to stop the Paramount Offence. JMJ #3 matches his jerseys # with # TD’s but he craves glory so we don’t want to mention his name here.

Required Reading : Paramount kicked dirt on JMJ here, but my type of dirt is The Dirt by Motley Crüe, the best music autobiography of all time. Full Chaos and several lifetime’s of sex, drugs and rock and roll. A must read.  How these guys are still alive is amazing.

Key Stats – Chris OlsOn with 7 TD’s, Scott Binns 2 way day with a pick 6 and 3 offensive TD’s and fine, Ron Oquet’s 9 catches and 3 TD’s.

FPF 52 – Polvige 33

Much like the above, the FPF Offence came out swinging and Glass Joe’d the crap out of Polvige this week. They however tell Paramount to hold their beer as they hit a season high 52 points. Rosenblatt was perfection on this day and shockingly Yoni was equally perfect punching in 5 TD’s on 11 catches. An absent Chris Rosen definitely was noticed as FPF scored on every drive. Monster teammates Owy and Tosi connect for 2 TD’s but it was all in vain.  The season series between these teams ends at 1-1 and a potential Donnybrook awaits if they connect in the playoffs. The newly installed OnSide kick made it’s first appearance and Owy successfully complete’s the OnSide kick to Kevin Kousaie.

Required Reading : While I don’t want to relive this game, I would re-read Dan Brown’s DaVinci Code over and over.  Pure fluff and mostly impossible to have any sense of realism, it’s an easy read and good for anyone who likes to read quickly, he writes like he’s telling you a good story.

Key Stats –  Rosenblatt’s career day warrants a solo mention, 8 TD’s, no INT’s, 25 for 35, 312 yards and a 138.3 QBR!

While I gave you book suggestions above, let’s balance it out with TV Tips of the week, 5 shows you should be watching

  1. YellowJackets, way better than expected.
  2. Mayor of Kingstown, not great, but just solid entertainment
  3. Stop Watching Yellowstone, it jumped the shark a few seasons ago, but 1899 and 1923 are top notch
  4. I can’t tell if I like Your Honor yet, but Bryan Cranston is good in anything
  5. 5 episodes into The Last of Us, almost perfect so far.

But rather than watching TV, you should come out Wednesday nights and watch live 35+ football action!

Here is your 1 year warning!……we most likely play on Valentine’s Day next season…..start laying the groundwork now so you can play.

And with that, Week 6 comes crashing to an end. I tried to point out as much defence as possible, but this was definitely a Offensive outburst type of week. Teams will meet up for the 3rd time in week 7 so let’s see how it all unfolds next week, same bat channel, same bat time!

See you on the field

Thanks

Dave
