A 35+ Football Story – Week 4

35+ FPF/KTFL Week 4 Article

Bonjour to all of those so bored that they need to read about 35+ football, but if it’s a red flag situation, I understand, we all need porcelain throne reading material.  As I write this it’s -30 out, so that sucks, but we’ve shut the door on January and Spring is closer than ever, but we I guess did something wrong so we get the deep freeze for now.

We have some decent parity in the KTFL division, as the week 1 results were flipped while the Legends division still has the Rainmakers fighting the injury bug but some quality replacements/reinforcements joining the squad will help right that ship sooner than later. Gladiateurs and Pacemakers lead the Legends division at 3-1 but Monster right behind nipping at their cold toes.

If you’ve never seen Andrew Blevings run back a full field pick 6, you are missing out on quite the sight.  He also lead the way overall defensively with 3 INT’s on Wednesday night.

This week see’s all teams have re-matches against this opening week opponent, good chance to see how teams have evolved since week 1.

Enough chit-chat, time to get to all the exciting Week 4 action from the legendary FPF 35+ Division.

Legends Division

Pacemakers 28 – Monster 22

A great battle coming down to the wire with a game ending end zone pick by Jordan Rossie. Rough night for QB’s as both end up with 3 INT’s with Shane Williams and Andrew Blevings taking 1 each back to the house. Great job by the Pacemakers defence holding Monster to only 8 completions. Andy and Tosi connect for 2 TD’s but it’s not enough as Pacemakers punch in the extra TD for the win.

Key Stats – Andrew Blevings 3 INT’s + Pacemakers defence with contributions from everyone.

Gladiateurs 34 – Rainmakers 12

After 2 close games, Rainmakers continue to struggle with the Gladiateurs and unfortunately, Rainmakers lose another player to injury but they also add Andrew Carruthers to their roster who brings tons of hype and experience. As for the Gladiateurs, they continue their strong play behind Francois Lebeau, who while only completed 50% this week, he cruises for 203 Yards/5 TD’s zero INT’s, including  5 Different players with TD’s. For Rainmakers the offence hasn’t hit stride, but super spare Chris Rosen leads the offence with 5 catches, an amazing over the shoulder sideline fade which is the highlight of the season so far. For the Rainmakers, a debuting Andrew Carruthers has a strong 2 way performance, with 3 catches, 47 Yards and 5 tackles. Once Ryan And Andrew get synced together on offence, that will be something to watch our for.

Key Stats –  Alex Moreau’s strong 2 way game, 3 Catches, 1 TD, 56 Yards, 3 tackles, 1 Int, Gladiateurs 4 out 5 for converts, easily the highest % of the year, not many teams converting a lot of converts this season.

KTFL Draft Division

JMJ 34  – FPF 24

A halftime time, see JMJ moved ahead in the 2nd half to take the rematch victory.  Rob Bohbot has a quality outing for FPF catching 6 for 8 and 1 TD., but it’s the good GM Kolethras who leads the way on the night offensively with a studly 7 for 7 and 2 TD’s.I was hoping not to write his name all year but Ron Oquet finally shows up for JMJ with 4 receptions and a really nice deep TD’s. Ron’s best qualities are the fancy beers he brings, his football skill is secondary.

Key Stats – GM and Ron with perfect catch to target ratios. in the least shocking statement of the year Yoni’s continues his pursuit of 2 way player of the year with 6 catches, 1 TD and 5 tackles with 2 PD’s.

Paramount 37 – Polvige 36

A shoot out right down to the wire, 69 pts in game 1, 73 pts in game 2, when these teams meet, defence is definitely optional. Last time Paramount held the halftime lead and couldn’t secure the W, this time it’s Polvige who squanders the early lead and gives away the game in the 2nd half. Owy and Olsend both go for 5 TD’s but an extra INT on the Polvige offence is the difference in this one. Bryan Joseph and Soctt Binns leads their teams offensively, but it’s Rob White doing end zone damaged with 3 TD’s on only 4 receptions.  The Paramount defence is led by Cory Sim-Robertson, Chris Olsen and Dave Mallais who pretty much play D by themselves with 23 tackles between them, did the other 3 have an off night? Or was the Polvige showing too much love to one side of the field.

Key Stats – Rob White offensive stellar performance with 4 catches, 88 yards and 3 TD’s. Cory Sim-Robertson’s Ray Lewis style 10 tackles.

We now sit at the halfway point of the KTFL Division and almost the halfway point of the Legends, so let’s take a look at the stats leaders after 4 games. (1 all star team + plus MVP’s, will be built from both divisions)
