Tier 4: Week 1 Rust For Some & Back To Form For Others

Hey everyone, welcome to this week’s article. We are starting Week 2 and a lot to unpack. With this being an 11-week season for Tier 4, we have teams who have played one game, a few with two games and a bunch of teams who will make their season debut this week or even in Week 3. Last week I asked two questions for every team in this division and for covering 33 teams, I apologize in advance if some weeks I don’t cover your team. Before I get into what I wanted to introduce as a weekly segment, let’s recap the games from last week:

Nut N’ Run def Sans Pression 30-22
Nicolas Katerelos threw for 5 TDs without any turnovers on great efficiency with Samuel Deland and Vincent Malo scoring 2 TDs each for the victory. Sans Pression’s Isaac Chavannes threw 2 TDs, both to Kevin Felima showing that he might be an early safety blanket as a receiver. A good showing for both teams in the first game of the Tier 4 season.

Team Ethnik def FC Bing 30-6
Benoit Lawlor only needed 11 completions for the victory but with over 19yds a completion shows his deep ball ability to his receivers. Afdaal Martin led the game with 107yds and a game high 4 passes defended. For FC Bing, Marc-André Senécal struggles with only 9 completions and a TD but rushed for 34yds showing that he can be a duel-threat.

Rum & Coke def Ball Hawks 38-24
Dante Gerardi was back in season form with 5 TDs and a 3 TD performance for Hunter Beriault who also added two interceptions and a pick-6 proving a very early two-way player of the year type performance. Richie Mondesir was efficient with 68% completion rate and his 2 rushing TD and Rayray Franklin leading the way with both TDs. Ball Hawks may have lost but if they can tighten up on defence, this can be one of their few losses.

TuneSquad def Sour puss 34-33
Garner Ross was clinical with 5 TDs, three of them to Jess Dyn in a high scoring win. With three receivers over 6 targets, shows that he trust not just one receiver when it counts. Sour puss had Eric Carelli and Franco Russo combine for 5 TDs and both Carl Murray and Simon Labturc scoring two each. By only going 1/5 on converts, this decided the game for a Sour puss defeat.

Chomedey Chodes def Not Fast Just Furious 38-25
Matthew Bottazzi proved to be efficient with over 73% completion and 6 TDs, 2 to his brother Jonathan Bottazzi and 3 TDs to Brock Zwicker. A 12 point lead at the break proved to be enough for a Chomedey Chodes victory. For NFJS, William Seguin threw for 4 TDs with Gabriel Dambreville catching 3 of them. A defeat where if their defence can tighten up behind 2 sacks from Vincent Demers, NFJS can cause issues for others.

Reborn Prospects def Brewers 32-20
I scorekept this game and Reborn Prospects were in control early as McRodly JeanMarie threw 4 TDs and with a pick-6 from Dudley Ignace on defence. Nathanael Dinku continued from his strong Spring season with a TD and an INT. For Brewers, Paolo “Peeze” Della Rocca played well but with two INTs in the first half, it was a tough climb afterwards. Connections with receivers Matt Kirouac and Émile Skaf can prove to be a foundation moving forward.

Dragon Magique def Studz 31-24
There aren’t any stats on the website as of now but I was able to watch some plays from this game. From what I saw, Studz were having a lot of short plays whereas Dragon Magique was looking down the field more often. Both teams were not good for their converts as Dragon Magique had the only convert of the game. A close one throughout the game and both sides can use this as a learning experience moving forward.

The Peckers def Sour puss 26-6
Noah Lieblein spread the ball around with every player having at least two receptions. The Peckers defence stood tall as Nathan Twik had 4 sacks and Lieblein had two interceptions including a pick-6. Sour puss struggled in this game and a rare two INTs performance from Franco Russo which I don’t expect to happen often. Carl Murray continues to be a top option but with two losses in Week 1, Sour puss needs to regroup fast.

FC Bing def Dog Walkers 57-6
FC Bing came back strong with a blowout win of their own, behind a career-high 8 TDs! The FPF debut of Tony Lemire is to watch as he finished with 4 TDs and 3 INTs. With a 32-6 lead at half, FB Bing had full control. Julian McLaren-Thompson struggled with 5 INTs and it seemed that no one could step up at the position. It’s still early in the season but a blowout isn’t something to push to the side and Dog Walkers have talent but whether it’s McLaren-Thompson or someone else at QB, it needs to improve.

TuneSquad def Bible Study 27-20
Evan Vavinis is back at QB and with 3 TDs, showing promise with a safety blanket in Rocco Christiano. Garner Ross threw 4 TDs in the win and by having Kendal Mayers sub and contributed to 2 INTs, is this a one-time thing or is Mayers going to be full-time?

Fantasy Football Flag Edition
What I wanted to introduce every week in the spirit of fantasy football is my ideal fantasy football lineup for each week. I will predict the best fantasy football lineup in a full PPR format and I’ll only be able to use a player once all season and their points will be added from both sides of the ball. Here is the lineup below

  • Full PPR (points-per-reception)
  • 1 QB
  • 2 Receivers
  • 1 rusher
  • 2 defensive backs
  • 2 flexes
  • 1 Team for defence

Here’s the scoring format that I will use for each player:

  • Throwing: 1pt per 25yds, 4pts per passing TD, -2 per INT thrown
  • Receiving: 1pt per reception, 6pt per TD, 1pt convert, 2pt convert
  • Rushing: 1pt per 10yds, 6pt per TD
  • Defence (starts at 0): 1pt per sack, 0.5 per pass defended, 2pt per INT, 1pt per safety, 6pt per TD,

Here is my Week 2 fantasy lineup below:

QB: Mathew Yanakoulias (vs Team Ethnik)
WR: Standly Williams (vs Dog Walkers)
WR: Kevin Marcil (vs Texas Whales)
Rusher: Dante Talarico (vs Voodoo)
DB: Eric Hamparsoumian (vs Reborn Prospects)
DB: Mike Badibabungi (vs Briscoe Hawks)
Flex: Nicholas Fon (vs Chomedey Chodes)
Flex: David Collette (vs Glogang)
Defence: Uncle Rico’s Ryders (vs Team Ethnik)

Closing Remarks
That’s all for this article! Next week I’ll recap these games and also see how did my fantasy lineup turn out.
