Div C: Divisional Recap and QF Predictions

Whats up FPF, were happy to be here after an 11 week regular season in the playoffs where players become champions and teammates become brothers. As the pressure mounts, we really see who is the best in the entire division. Were already through with the divisional round and the Quarter finals are going to be under way tonight. Ill go over every playoff game from last week and give my predictions for the Quarter Finals. Lets dive into it.
Divisional Round Recap
Coldest 43 – Bandits 6
Coldest shows up big in this first round matchup as they were firing on offence and shutting down everything on defence. One thing to note is that Emile Skaf, usual QB for Bandits only threw two passes. Wether he was injured or substituted out if unknown but either way Simon Girard did not have a good day throwing the ball. Less then 50% completion and 4 interceptions, bandits could never get things going. It wasn’t until the second half that they got their only score of the game. Coldest cam out the gate striking as they weren’t stopped once in the first half and extended their lead to 24-0.
The player of the game for this one surly was Sammy Omombo, QB for coldest. 215 yards and 5 touchdowns passing, with an additional rushing touchdown to make it 6 total for him on the day. But he didn’t stop there, he also contributed a huge performance on defence as he secured 4 INT’s and one PD , making big plays on both sides of the field. Has Coldest finally found their rhythm? Can they keep momentum from this huge win heading into this weeks semi final.
All-Blacks 32 – MOFOS 12
As per my predictions all season, MOFOs without TIemoko Sanogo are simply not a threat in division C but instantly become contenders with him under center. Unfortunately for MOFOs Sanogo did not make an appearance and instead Micheal Remy took the helm. MOFOs were unable to score until their last possession of the first half, which they were already down 19-6. MOFOS tried to rally but again were only able to score another 6. All-Blacks came to play as they made no mistakes and capitalized on turnovers. Their offence was strong but their defence was stronger. 3 total INT’s and two of them were retuned for scores. Very hard to close the gap when trailing with multiple pick 6’s. I have no choice but to give credit to the whole defence for All-Blacks but QB Yannick Bissonnette as the star of this game. Controlling the clock and never putting the ball into harms way. 145 yard, 3 touchdowns and 0 INT’s is a fantastic stat line in a playoff game. Im sure All-Blacks would like to score more points off turnovers as they only got 2 points on 5 convert attempts. As they move forward in the playoffs games will get much tighter and everyone knows convert attempts are golden.
Jagerbomb 44 – The Commission 32
Jagerbomb came out on top with a 44–32 victory over The Commission, fuelled by a relentless aerial attack and a pair of game-changing interceptions.
It didn’t take long for the tone to be set, The Commission’s opening drive ended with Kevin Marcil jumping a route for a pick on the first play of the game, putting Jagerbomb’s offense in prime position. Simon Duchesne wasted no time, methodically moving the chains with short completions before finding Felix Fontaine-Larouche for the game’s first touchdown as he has done all season long. The Commission answered back behind Frederic Juneau, who connected with Zackary Alberts-Gill to cut the deficit. But Jagerbomb’s offense was in rhythm early, with Duchesne spreading the ball to all of his receivers as every player on offence for them received at least 4 targets in the game. A six-yard strike to Marcil pushed the lead, and another Fontaine-Larouche score gave Jagerbomb a comfortable first-half cushion as they led 19-6
If the first half was steady execution, the second was pure fireworks as Jagerbomb sacred another 25 points. Great offence and a pick-six proved crucial, as Jagerbomb always had an answer. The Commission made it interesting late with back-to-back touchdowns to Anastasopoulos, including a dramatic 40-yard onside conversion for a score. But the deficit was too steep to overcome, and Jagerbomb’s early defensive plays held up as the difference.
Player of the Game was easily Kevin Marcil. Marcil was a force on both sides of the ball, finishing 5-for-6 for 55 yards and 2 touchdowns on offense, while also recording 1 interception and 2 pass deflections on defense. His early pick set the tone, and his reliable hands in the red zone kept the offense rolling. This offence will continue to be one of the best offences in the division and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them treat every defence like this.
Beer Belly Brigade 25 vs The Hustlers 21
In one of the most dramatic finishes of the season, Beer Belly Brigade edged the Hustlers in a nail-biting Division C matchup, capped by a walk-off touchdown with just one play left on the clock. The win allows Beer Belly Brigade to advance in these playoffs but sends a clear message to the rest of the division: this team knows how to close out games under pressure.
The game opened with both offenses trading punches. The Brigade struck first when Jonathan Benoit found space on the outside for a perfectly timed reception and the game’s opening touchdown. The Hustlers answered with steady, methodical drives, using short passes and ball control to keep things tight. A super close 14-13 score at halftime with Beer Belly Brigade starting with the ball on offence in the second half. As the second half wore on, neither side could pull away. The Hustlers’ defense tightened, forcing the Brigade into tough third-down situations, while their offense kept the scoreboard ticking. The Hustlers regained the lead with a 1 yard touchdown to Eric Namts. With time winding down, the game was looking close to over with only 6 plays left, setting the stage for a dramatic finale. Picking up 20 yards in the air on 4 plays, they had cut the field in half but still had work to do. With just one play left in regulation, quarterback play execution was flawless. Benoit ran a sharp inside cut, created separation, and hauled in a 22 yard pass for his second touchdown of the game, the game-winner as time expired. The Brigade bench erupted, sealing a victory that will echoed through division C.
Jonathan Benoit was unquestionably the star of the night, finishing with 3 receptions for 39 yards and 2 touchdowns — including the walk-off score that sealed the win. Every catch came in a high-leverage moment, and his ability to find soft spots in coverage and execute precise routes made him the go-to target when the game was on the line. He also had one interception and and one pass defence. His performance not only lifted the Brigade to victory but also solidified his reputation as one of the most clutch players in Division C this season.
Quarter Finals Predictions
Speed Academy (8-2) Vs Beer Belly Brigade (5-5)
Previous matchup: 20-13 Beer Belly Brigade
Speed Academy has had one of the best offences all year, but they seemed to struggle back in week 5 as they only scored 13 points. Was it just a bad day at the office or does the Beer Belly Brigade defence have an answer that the rest of the division is looking for. An update on the qb situation for the Brigade has Philippe Gélinas stepping in for the injured Alex Fafard. Gélinas did a great job in their first playoff game with 150 yards and 3 touchdowns.
I assume Speed Academy gets their revenge and scores at least double the points they did in their last meeting. Expect Emile Plante to be the star of the show as Beer Belly Brigade has not been a strong team rushing the passer as they only have 2 players who totalled 4 sacks the entire season. If Emile is unbothered in the pocket he will have a big day and their offence will flourish. Give me Speed Academy 36-24
Les Petites Carottes (9-1) vs All-Blacks (4-6)
Previous matchup: 46-25 LPC
Can All-Blacks have the biggest upset of the season? While All-Blacks played a great divisional round game its hard to see them being food enough to take down this 9-1 LPC team. Back in week 4 we saw these two teams face off and it was all LPC as their offence was clicking as they scored 46 on the All-Blacks defence. LPC has playmakers in all positions and have proven to beat the best teams in Div C, their quest to a div C title begins with this win. For all Blacks, they are going to be near perfect if they want to compete in this game and pull off the upset. That means no blown coverages, no turnovers and everyone sticking to their responsibilities. It has been nice seeing the progression of All-Blacks in their first FPF season, But unfortunately I see LPC taking this one in similar fashion. LPC 42-18.
Sugar Daddies (7-3) vs Jagerbomb (6-4)
Previous matchup: 39-24 Sugar Daddies
This is the game I am most excited for in this divisional round as I predict this one will be the closest game of all quarterfinal matchups. Even though Sugar Daddies handled Jagerbomb in the early weeks of the season I’m sure this will be a different game. This game features two of the best Quarterbacks in division C, Jared Buck of Sugar Daddies and Simon Duchesne fo Jagerbomb. These two quarterbacks combine for 13 wins, almost 4000 yards and 90 touchdowns. Both in the race for QBOY in the division I’m expecting an all out light show. Defences will be important simply because I believe whichever team gets one stop or stops the most amount of extra points will be the winner. I can’t wait to watch this shootout. Give me Jagerbomb by a slim margin 47-46.
LeBrontourage (8-2) vs Coldest (5-5)
Previous matchup: N/A
A big game for LeBrontourage as they need to prove that they are the best team in the division despite losing their best receiver for the playoffs. Their last two regular season games were wins, but they weren’t the type of wins we became accustomed to this season. Both 1 score wins in a high scoring affair. Its clear that their offence can still compete but can their defence step up and start holding opposing offences to less then 30 points? Because their defence hasn’t been able to do so since week 4. Coldest definitely have the athletes to compete with LeBrontourage but do they have enough mental toughness to stay in the game if Lebrontourage gets off to a hot start. One thing is clear, if Sammy Omombo has a performance like he did last week Coldest will pull off the upset. So I guess the game lies in the hands of LeBrontourage QB, Gianni Casati. If their offence is still rolling it won’t matter how many points their defence gives up. I’m less confident in this prediction as I know Coldest has the ability to take down anyone and have been ranked in my power rankings almost all season, ill still take LeBrontourage 45-38.
