Week 5 Shakeup: Five Guys Stuns Still C.R.A. as Les Giants Go Nuclear

Intermediate Division – Week 5 Recap

Week 5 Shakeup: Five Guys Stuns Still C.R.A. as Les Giants Go Nuclear

June 19th will be remembered as the night the season shifted. While Still C.R.A. entered Week 5 leading the standings at 4-1, they left it reeling from a stunning 32-6 beatdown at the hands of Five Guys. Meanwhile, Les Giants delivered a statement performance with a merciless 60-0 shutout of FC Bing.

The Upset of the week

Five Guys quarterback Jared Buck put on an absolute clinic against the division leaders, completing 20 of 31 passes for 294 yards and five touchdowns. His favorite target, Mathieu Lepage, torched Still C.R.A.’s defense for six catches, 88 yards, and a touchdown, while Ryan Vanslet added 77 yards and a touchdown on just three catches.

Still C.R.A., forced to rely on receiver-turned-quarterback Nirosh Suresh, managed just 176 passing yards and six points in their worst performance of the season. The loss exposed vulnerabilities in what had been one of the divisions most consistent team.

Les Giants Flex Their Muscles

On the same night, Les Giants served notice that they might be the team to beat. Quarterback Marc-Andre Reeves carved up FC Bing’s defense for 355 yards and nine touchdowns on an efficient 20-of-24 passing performance. His primary weapon, Gab Couture, hauled in six catches for 149 yards and three touchdowns in the 60-0 rout.

FC Bing, meanwhile, managed just 78 passing yards and turned the ball over four times in a performance that highlighted the growing gap between the playoff contenders and the struggling teams.

Current Standings: 7 Teams, 6 Spots

With six teams making the playoffs and only one getting left behind, the pressure is mounting across the league:

Still C.R.A. (5-2-0) leads the division despite the upset loss, having scored 215 points while allowing 132. Their +83 point differential keeps them atop the standings, but their grip on first place has loosened considerably.

Les Giants (4-1-0) and Bleue Dry (4-1-0) are breathing down Still C.R.A.’s neck, with Les Giants boasting a league-best +114 point differential after their recent offensive explosions. Les Giants followed their 60-point outburst by dismantling Ambush 51-20 just three days later.

Five Guys (3-2-0) and Ambush (3-2-0) sit in the middle of the playoff pack at .500, with Five Guys’ upset victory proving they belong among the contenders.

At the bottom, Montreal Mavericks (0-5-0) and FC Bing (0-6-0) are fighting to avoid being the lone team excluded from playoff contention, though Montreal showed signs of life in a 47-24 loss to Bleue Dry where they managed their best offensive output of the season.

The Two-Way Superstars

What makes this league truly special is the abundance of elite players excelling on both sides of the ball. These aren’t just athletes playing multiple positions – they’re dominating at every level.

Anthony Drysdale (Ambush) leads the league with 29 receptions for 456 yards and 13 touchdowns, but he’s equally dangerous on defense with three interceptions and two PD’s. Despite Ambush’s average record, Drysdale has established himself as the league’s most complete player.

Nirosh Suresh (Still C.R.A.) embodies versatility, leading his team in receiving with 28 catches for 364 yards while serving as backup quarterback and anchoring the defense.

Charles Cossette (Bleue Dry) 21 catches for 307 yards receiving, and eight tackles with two interceptions on defense. His ability to impact the game from multiple positions makes Bleue Dry incredibly difficult to game-plan against.

Yvan Desjardins (Bleue Dry) showcased his two-way brilliance in the win over Montreal Mavericks, recording five catches for 77 yards on offense before delivering a pick-six that sealed the victory.

Quarterback Excellence vs. Struggles

The stark contrast in quarterback play across the league tells the story of this season’s standings.

Marc-Andre Reeves (Les Giants) is having a historically great season, completing 77.5% of his passes for 1,142 yards and 27 touchdowns with just two interceptions. His 149.0 quarterback rating is otherworldly, and his connection with Gab Couture (25 catches, 451 yards, 17 touchdowns) has been unstoppable.

Jared Buck (Five Guys) has quietly put up massive numbers with 1,338 passing yards – the most in the division so far – while maintaining a solid 69.8% completion rate. He had a great performance against Still C.R.A. He’s an elite talent.

Ryan Kharouf (Still C.R.A.) remains productive despite some inconsistency, throwing for 1,108 yards and 22 touchdowns, though his 58.6% completion rate suggests room for improvement.

Benjamin McMahon (Ambush) has been efficient with a 67.3% completion rate and just one interception in 113 attempts.

On the other end of the spectrum, FC Bing’s quarterback struggles tell the story of their winless season. Their three quarterbacks combine for a 40.6% completion rate with 15 touchdowns against 20 interceptions, making it nearly impossible to compete with the league’s elite teams.

The Playoff Push

With the regular season winding down and only one team facing elimination, every remaining game carries enormous weight. The upcoming matchup between Les Giants and Still C.R.A. on June 26th could determine the division leader, while teams like Montreal Mavericks and FC Bing are running out of time to avoid being the odd team out.

Bleue Dry remains the dark horse with their elite attack and exceptional two-way players. Zacharie Quiviger’s steady quarterback play (66.7% completion, 123.3 rating) combined with the explosive Frederic Juneau package (78.9% completion, 156.7 rating in limited action) gives them multiple looks to keep defenses guessing.

Five Guys proved they can beat anyone on any given night, with Mathieu Lepage emerging as one of the league’s premier receivers (36 catches, 558 yards, 11 touchdowns) and a deep corps of weapons surrounding Buck.

Ambush continues to hang around thanks to Drysdale’s game-breaking ability, though they’ll need more consistent production to make a serious championship run.

Championship Contenders

Based on recent performance and overall talent, Les Giants have emerged as the team to beat. Their combination of Reeves’ elite quarterback play, a diverse receiving corps led by Couture, and opportunistic defense makes them the most complete team in the league.

Still C.R.A. remains dangerous despite the upset loss, with a deep roster of two-way players and the league’s most balanced statistical profile. If Kharouf returns to form and they get healthy, they have the experience and talent to reclaim the top spot.

Bleue Dry shouldn’t be overlooked, with their multiple quarterback packages and array of two-way stars creating matchup nightmares for opponents. They’ve quietly put together a 4-1 record while flying under the radar.

Power Rankings

1. Les Giants (4–1)

They played two games in Week 5 and won both by a combined score of 111–20. Despite technically sitting 2nd in the standings due to fewer games played, they’ve been the most dominant team in the division in every measurable way: point differential (+141), QB production, and team depth.

2. Bleue Dry (4–1)

Quietly cruising. They’ve won four of their first five games with the 2nd-best offense and a top-3 defense. Week 5’s 47–24 win featured a complete performance: five passing touchdowns and two defensive scores. Quiviger and Desjardins are making a strong case for All-Star nods.

3. Five Guys (3–2)

Still behind in the official standings, but trending sharply upward. After demolishing Still C.R.A., they now sit at +71 in point differential and boast one of the best offences. Jared Buck leads the division in yardage, and Lepage continues to be a matchup nightmare.

Tier: Rising Fast

4. Still C.R.A. (5–2)

Despite being in 1st place by record, Still C.R.A. has taken two big losses and their strength of schedule is weaker than other top teams. Ryan Kharouf has been productive, but their defense has shown cracks against higher-tier opponents.

Tier: Volitile Contender

Tier: Dangerous Middle-Tier

6. Montreal Mavericks (0–5)

Still winless, but at least the offense is coming alive. Levy’s breakout game gives them something to build around. They’ve allowed more points than anyone except FC Bing, but they are starting to show flashes of identity.
