5v5 Intermediate – Preseason Preview

5v5 Intermediate – Preseason Preview
The 5v5 Intermediate division is set to launch its Spring 2025 season, and this season’s lineup of teams might be the most intriguing yet. With seven squads preparing for go at it, the stage is set for a dynamic clash of playing styles, experience levels, and ambitions. From teams moving up the ranks after dominant seasons, to new contenders bringing fresh energy or veteran savvy, every roster carries a unique story into Week 1.
FC Bing
FC Bing enters Spring 2025 as one of the most closely watched teams in the division, and for good reason. They are a returning squad from Winter Division 6B, where they put together an 8-2 regular season before losing in the divisional round. That result alone would earn them attention, but what sets this team apart is their award-winning duo on offense.
Quarterback Marc-André Senécal was named QB of the Year in Division 6B — a recognition of his efficient play, decision-making, and ability to lead a team through a successful regular season. Lining up alongside him is Charles Vuong, who claimed WR of the Year honors in the same division. The pair helped drive one of the most dangerous offenses in Division 6B and will now look to replicate that production against stiffer competition.
The move up to Intermediate is a significant step — Division 6B is a lower-level tier in the FPF, meaning FC Bing will face more seasoned opponents and a faster pace of play. That said, the talent and cohesion this team has shown make them a compelling storyline to watch.
Montreal Mavericks
The Montreal Mavericks are a newer addition to the 5v5 Intermediate landscape. While little is known about their full roster composition, it’s safe to say they will bring a youthful edge to the division. Likely made up of young, fast, and athletic players, the Mavericks could very well be a team that relies on speed and agility to gain an advantage.
As a new team, the key for the Mavericks will be how quickly they can adjust to the rhythm of league play. Their athletic profile suggests potential to compete, especially in open space where speed is an asset. But their effectiveness will come down to how well they execute and adapt over the course of the season.
Still C.R.A.
New to the 5v5 format, Still C.R.A. is entering the Intermediate division with one significant edge: experience. While this team has yet to play under the Still C.R.A. name in 5v5, they are composed of players who bring substantial background in flag football. That veteran knowledge will be a key component of their identity.
Transitioning into 5v5 presents a learning curve, even for experienced players, as spacing, tempo, and defensive schemes differ from other formats. However, if any new team is poised to make that leap quickly, it’s a group built on a foundation of past competitive experience. Expect Still C.R.A. to be sharp from the outset.
Bleue Dry
Few teams in this division can match Bleue Dry’s combination of recent success and individual accolades. They return after going 8-2 last season and making it to the semi-finals, where their playoff run ended in a loss to CTE. The performance solidified Bleue Dry as one of the top squads in the Intermediate division.
A major reason for their success is quarterback Frédéric Juneau, who was named QB of the Year in Intermediate last season. His leadership, poise, and ability to control the tempo of a game are central to the team’s identity. With Juneau at the helm, Bleue Dry enters this new season as one of the most stable and dangerous returning teams.
Their playoff pedigree, combined with a high-level quarterback, makes Bleue Dry a serious title contender from day one.
Five Guys
Last season, Five Guys finished with a 5-5 record, a perfectly balanced campaign that leaves room for optimism. Their biggest obstacle wasn’t the competition — it was consistency. The team struggled with maintaining a full and reliable roster throughout the season, which affected both chemistry and momentum.
Heading into this season, expectations are higher. With more consistent attendance and player availability anticipated, Five Guys could be in a position to move beyond the middle of the pack. The pieces are in place — the challenge will be execution, week in and week out.
Les Giants
Les Giants are one of the most interesting new teams in the division. While they haven’t competed together in FPF’s 5v5 Intermediate division before, they are far from inexperienced. The roster features several seasoned players, and most notably, they are led by Marc-André Reeves, a quarterback who is already being recognized as one of the best up-and-coming QBs in the league.
Reeves’ presence immediately gives Les Giants credibility. His potential and current performance level have created buzz around the team before they’ve played a single game. With a strong supporting cast and the benefit of leadership under center, Les Giants could be poised for a fast start to their inaugural Intermediate campaign.
Ambush
Ambush returns after a strong showing in Division 5A, where they compiled a 7-3 record and reached the divisional round of the playoffs.
Having already demonstrated an ability to win consistently, Ambush comes in with the confidence of a team that knows what it takes to succeed at this level. They’re no longer building; they’re refining. While the outcome of the postseason didn’t go their way last time, this team has already proven it belongs — and will be looking to take the next step.
Final Thoughts
The 5v5 Intermediate division is built on contrast: returning powerhouses with playoff scars, new challengers with elite talent, and experienced squads looking to adapt to a new format. FC Bing’s promotion after a dominant lower-division season, Bleue Dry’s established consistency, and Les Giants’ rising star QB headline the early narratives. Meanwhile, teams like Ambush and Five Guys are looking to turn potential into playoff runs.
With every team starting 0-0, the next ten weeks will define who rises, who adjusts, and who surprises. One thing is certain — this division has no easy games.
