5 Plays ‘Till Halftime Week 3

Sometimes you do things without thinking. This is one of those times.  Each week GM Kolethras will send me 5, rapid-fire questions intended to entertain, disrupt and disturb.  I will answer without thinking and see what we’ve got in the kettle.  Feel free to contact GM at @GMKole44 to suggest questions and topics.

GM-Which team do you think will struggle the most after the Super Bowl Bye?

Peeze- In order to be able to answer this question coherently, (or at least, in the most coherent way that I possibly can, given my disposition for delirium) I restricted the sample size in this question to undefeated records and division leaders.  The team that I think will start to falter down the line is Past Our Prime.  Their schedule gets tougher and they play in a division where I find any divisional games particularly tough to predict.

GM-Which team will have the greatest bounce back after the bye?

Peeze-After the bye week some teams may spiral downwards while others may bounce back akin to a brand of an anti-static product that was popular in the 1980`s.  The team that I think will rebound well is Zio E Fraté.  While, on the surface it may seem that I gave this team a lot of hate throughout the season, I actually think they will be a good team moving forward. My comments were specifically that they were a good team but I did not see them as a powerhouse in this division.   So far they’ve underperformed, I think they will start to live up to their potential soon.

GM- Do you think that this is the strongest division 3 we’ve seen from an overall standpoint?

Peeze- I believe so and it isn’t even close. For one thing, the league’s entry level division used to be division 3 and it wasn’t even that long ago.  Referring specifically to this season we see former division 1 and 2 quarterbacks in Benny Goodfriend and Frédéric Dupuis playing in this division.  We see them competing against newer established quarterbacks like Ed Shoshan and James Floreani and up and comers such as Dan Lazzarra and Frédéric Morissette taking up residence. Aside from that, typical top level performing teams such as KGP Champs and   Prestige World Wide have had their struggles while teams that have made their way up from lower divisions (Buddays and Bearskins have been drawing a lot of attention). Division 3 looks impressive this season. I expect a lot of ratings to go up due to some incredible performances.

GM- Is one conference stronger than the other?

Peeze- After three weeks it is hard to tell.  Thus far however, I’d have to side with Conference A.  Not only does this conference host 5 undefeated teams, the bottom dwellers are strong and competent teams.  There just seems to be way too much firepower and too many exciting teams.  Look for Conference A East to cannibalize as divisional play picks up.

GM- What reality shows do you think each member of the FPF media team would excel at?

Peeze-

  • Simon Dagenais: Survivor, the way this guy is still employed by FPF is a mystery to us all.
  • David Della Rocca: Any Japanese Game Show, that stuff is nuts!
  • Brent Callender: The Weakest Link, it happens in every chain.
  • The Eagle at Master Control: Big Brother, cause…come on!!!
  • Brent Bodkin: That MMA one, simply because that dude scares me
  • Bryan Mongeau-Eastmond- Chopped, this dude cuts guys up on the field every week.
  • Rehan Sarwar: Jeopardy, technically, all game shows are reality shows and Rehan has the propensity for only asking questions to which he already knew the answer.
  • Terry Tam: The Bachelor, that’s the only way he could have landed such an attractive girlfriend.
  • Moe Khan: The real House Wives of Atlanta, if you haven’t tried Moe’s signature pecan pies, know that they are to die for.
  • Mat Domon: American Idol, he would be one of those hilarious auditions that never made the show. Honestly he only got on because producers misread the name as Matty Damon.
  • Daron Basmadjian: RuPaul’s Drag Race, not every dude can pull of sequins.
  • Nicolas Bealleau: So You Think You Can Dance, I imagine he has the ability to bust a move or two.
  • Vince Nardone: Celebrity Duets, Nardone partner’s up with the only one he respects enough to do so with: his ego!
  • GM Kolethras: Project Runway, this dude dresses too well to roam the sidelines.
  • Myself: Pawn Stars, I figure it only ends one way for me, pawning FPF memorabilia to make ends meet.

Power Rankings

There were some shakeups in the power rankings this week, however, there were few teams that fell out of the power rankings or climbed up.  This had to do with a lot of the top 10 teams facing up against each other.  What a week!  @PeezeFPF.

  1. Wild Boys (3-0): They beat two powerhouses and laid a beating on Brotherhood, which had all the makings of a trap game. Glad to see that wild boys came as prepared in week 3 as they did the first 2 weeks.
  2. Prestige World Wide (2-1): considering that there loss came in week 1, to Wild Boys, I think this is a fair spot for PWW.
  3. BearSkins (3-0): Having beaten the Buddays in week 2, BearSkins look to be the real deal.
  4. Past Our Prime (3-0): Craig O’Brien is back and Past Our Prime took it in stride picking up another big win.  They have a potential trap game in week 4, here’s where they will need to be strong veterans.
  5. OTF (3-0): We need to start to take notice. OTF has only allowed 44 points in 3 games.
  6. VPC (2-1): They fall far down the rankings here but keep in mind how many perfect teams remain.
  7. Les Buddays (2-1): They lost a heartbreaker in week 2. I expect Dupuis and co. to bounce back quickly.
  8. Predators (2-0-1):  They are still undefeated and playing well. However, with a +/- of 7, one asks the question, when will the excuse “It wasn’t as close as the score”, run its course?
  9. BD Bandits (2-1): GM Kolethras and I postulated that BD Bandits would need to develop a more quck strike approach to offense. Is this a new BD Bandits?
  10. Monstars (2-1)- After losing to the Predators by a score of 24-20, Monstars stay at 10 because I truly wasn’t impressed by any other teams ranked lower than Monstars this week.

Others receiving votes

Do you all remember or still take tests where you need to fill the circle with an HB pencil or some massive correcting computer would reject your results and assault you in your sleep?  That was the case here as the other votes could not be scanned and as such I picked three teams at random.

  • Sea Assassins (1-1): They don’t quite make the top 10 because so many top teams payed each other this week. If they keep performing that way they will work their way up quickly.

  • Snatchers (2-1): Beating someone with a winning record would be a start toward earning serious attention.  Until then, they may just be a product of their schedule.

  • Broccaision (1-1): Broccaision beat La Sauce this week.  This may not mean all that we thought it did in the preseason.

My full weekly article is coming out in a few short days that will cover recaps and announce my picks for the upcoming week. Until then please remember to tune in Thursday night at 7:15 pm eastern standard time as GM Koletheras and I will go over the first week of action.
