35+ FPF : Weeks 9&10&11 In Review

35+ FPF: From the Field to the Page, Weeks 9&10&11 in Review

The battle for playoffs is upon us with only a few games remaining, so no time for chit chat, let’s jump right into the action with all the exciting results from weeks 9-10-11 of 35+ FPF.

WEEK 9

Week 9 35+ Legends

We start with a big matchup of division leaders here, as the Bearskins take on the Pacemakers. As mentioned, in my previous article, this is the first of 3 matchups in a row for these squads. It’s all Pacemakers here as they take the W with a solid 30-8 win.  Both QB’s have a case of the INT’s this day, but it’s Justin Anania who wins the day, with a team leading 6 tackles and a hat trick of INT’s. Marco Bertoldi for Bearskins steps up with 2 INT’s but it’s not enough as the Pacemakers take the first victory in the upcoming trio of showdowns.

In Game 2, we have Greyhawks v Team Ethnik Sr, and unfortunately no one is a winner, but also no one is a loser as we see both teams get a chance to win in OT but settle for a 13-13 tie. Damien Jean-Jacques has a great day on defense for the Greyhawks going for 4 tackles, 2 PD’s and 1 INT, but can’t connect with QB Aggie as they 0 for 5 on targets.  Team Ethnik Sr’s Guillaume Bedard spreads the ball to 6 different receivers but can’t hit the end zone enough for the win. This is a huge point for Greyhawks as with the single point combined with the Bearskins loss, they leap into 2nd place, but also a key point for Team Ethnik Sr, as they are now just 1 point behind the 3rd place Bearskins.

Week 9 35+ Draft

Spring Break Bye week for the whole division, no games!

WEEK 10

Week 10 35+ Legends

Upset alert! We start with a change of pivot and a big win as Everything Hurts helps their playoff chances with a 7pt win 25-18 over Greyhawks. New pivot Josh Currie has a day here going 21 for 24 and 4 TD’s for Everything Hurts while Greyhawks replacement QB Justin Lavallee fires for 3 TD’s but not enough to secure the win.  Both teams get contributions from everyone on both offence and defense with 11 receivers catching balls, 6 players with TD’s and 12 different players making plays on defense. This is a huge win for E-Hurts as they are currently on the outside looking in for the last playoff sport.

Over in Game 2, we have a 2nd of 3 consecutive games between Bearskins and Pacemakers.  While Pacemakers took the first game with a convincing victory, it was Bearskins who came through in the 2nd game with a 26-19 win.  Bearskins QB Vince Nardone starts the game at QB for Bearskins, throw 1 pass which results in an INT and benches himself in favor of Neil Etinson. Turns out to be the FPF Turning Point of the game as Neil throws for 4 TD’s on a clean 19 for 27 attempts and picks up 44 yards on the ground. Just like the game above, contributions from everyone on both sides of the ball for both teams. 35+ clearly shows the veteran knowledge as the ball is spread often and strong defense systems allow for everyone to make key plays defensively. Who will take the 3rd match-up?  Scroll down for week 11 action.

Week 10 35+ Draft

Pre-break On Rock had a heartbreaker with a 1pt loss on the last play of the game, so how would they bounce back in week 10?, pretty damn good is the answer. On Rock turns the tables on JMJ this week and takes home the 1pt win with a 38-37 victory. Both QB’s sling it well for 6 TD’s each, but the converts are a challenge for both pivots as they each only cash in 1.  The main difference however is Dave Weiss’s 2 pt convert vs Brian Martin’s Single convert, giving On Rock the win. Spare du jour Alex Moreau has 2 INT’s for JMJ but it’s not enough take the victory here. On Rock QB Chris Olson starting to get hot at the right time of year.

On the other side of the tarp, FPF probably has their worst outing of the season and gets punched 45-24. Since it’s my team, I can critics a little more harshly.  BroadyWindsor played like a top team and took advantage of FPF all night. BW pivot Sean Avraam only needed 13 completions to hit the end zone 6 times. BW with 5 different players hitting the end zone, and FPF in the interesting stat of the night, has 9 different offensive players with a pass attempt.  In the play of year candidate category, we have Darren Bicknell hauling in a 33 yard bomb while flat on his back. Unfortunately he didn’t connect on his other 5 attempts so maybe he should lie down more often.

WEEK 11

Week 11 35+ Legends

As we get close to playoffs, every game is a battle for playoff position and Team Ethnik Sr. helps their cause greatly here with a 1 score victory, taking down Greyhawks 24-18. Greyhawks have a case of the INT’s here with 4 landing in Ethnics’ hands. David De Andrade has a solid outing with 4 TD’s and a consistent connection with Henry Dam who hauls in 7 catches with 1 TD. Greyhawks Captain Derek Dugas chips in for 7 tackles but it’s not enough to secure the victory.  Team Ethnick easily wins the turnover battle and gives themselves a cushion over Everything Hurts to stay playoff eligible.

In the other game, we have the 3rd match-up between division leaders, as Bearskins win the season series with a 32-19 victory over Pacemakers.  Turnovers as usual tell the story, as Pacemakers have 3 INT’s vs Bearskins 1. Neil Etinson leads the way at QB with 5 TD’s and helps his cause with 1 INT on defense.  Vince Nardone picks up 2 TD’s and 2 INT’s and Kevin Libman show suo with 3 TD’s on 7 catches.  The change to Neil Etinson at QB is working wonders for Bearskins. Terry Tam continues his hot streak with 1 catch on 1 target. Justin Anania has a strong outing for Pacemakers with 5 tackles and an interception, but the Pacemakers offence is stalled this day with too many INT’s.

Week 11 35+ Draft

3 weeks in a row, we have a 1pt game.  BroadyWindsor take down JMJ 39-38 as they lock down 1st place and the regular season championship. In 3 meetings this season, all 3 games have been decided by 1 score or less. If they end up meeting in the playoffs, it will be a barn burner for sure. Both teams hit the end zone 6 times, but it’s those bloody converts that make the difference here. Both teams convert twice but BW cash in on a 2pt conversion and that’s the difference maker here. The stats sheet is a gong show of activity, both teams with 5 different players scoring TD’s and combined 14 different players with pass targets, 12 players with tackles. Great to see so many teams getting everyone involved. #35+Teamwork.

Field 2 hosts FPF vs On Rock in a battle for the 3rd/4th spots in the standings. After a couple close games, On Rock stumbles here as FPF takes the win, 30-14.  For FPF, in a season of defensive challenges, they step up here with their best performance of the year. FPF’s Tony Lalla starts the game with an INT setting the defensive tone, as FPF delivers 8 PD’s stalling the On Rock offence.

Post Week 11 Standings Analysis

1 game left for playoff final standings in Draft and a coulple in Legends, but much has been solved already.

In the Legends division, we have 4 teams making it to the playoffs, so 1 team stays home during the post-season.  Right now, Everything Hurts sits 3 pts behind Greyhawks and Team Ethnik for the last playoff spot. The week 12 match-up between EH and Ethnik will determine a playoff spot for Ethnik or if EH can keep their playoffs hopes alive. Everything Hurts also need Greyhawks to not pick up any points in their 9th game until they meet in week 14. EH has a double header in week 14 (schedule maker strikes again) so a lot might be on the line that night.  At the top of the division, we have a tie between Bearskins and Pacemakers with Bearskins taking their season series 2-1.  Wins/ties by either team in the last 2 games, guarantees a top 2 finish for both teams.

In Draft world, congrats to Broady Windsor for locking down 1st place and taking home the regular season championship for 2024. JMJ finishes in 2nd place.   The results of the week 10 games will determine the playoff match ups, with FPF currently holding down 2rd place with a 1 pt lead over On Rock.  Draft Semi’s are April 8th with the final taking place Sunday April 14th.

Randomness

When your team name isn’t a real word, it’s annoying in Word.  Yes, I could add to Dictionary, but I choose not to.

Some of you spend way too much time on NFL Free Agency, but it’s okay, that random DB signing will help your team, I’m sure.

Well played Steelers, well played.

Caleb Williams isn’t the guy.  Let’s see how this comment ages.

There is no greater scam than paying for Linkedin.

Enjoy the Madness. UConn v Purdue. UConn with the win, even though Purdue is probably the better story.
